We contacted Nick to sell a large stamp collection. He met us. We helped him and his partner load his truck. About a week later he gave us his offer. We were pleased with the offer and accepted it. He paid us. We found Nick to be professional and knowledgeable. We highly recommend him to anyone wanting to sell a stamp collection. K & C Thompson read more

Did never returned my call or text. I read many good reviews about this company and was very disappointed not getting a response.

When my dad recently passed away, he left behind over 70 books of carefully collected stamps--a true labor of love that he hoped would one day be appreciated by someone who shared his passion. I reached out to several registered stamp collectors in the area, and Nick was one of the few who responded--on a Sunday, no less! Nick went above and beyond. He took the time to have a thoughtful conversation with us about his interest in the collection and explained the appraisal process in detail, including potential costs. What really stood out was that he drove all the way from San Diego to Orange County to meet with us in person. Throughout the visit, Nick was incredibly kind, respectful, and knowledgeable. He answered all of our questions patiently and made us feel at ease during a very emotional time. It was clear he not only respects the value of stamps but also understands the sentimental weight they can carry. We would wholeheartedly recommend Nick to anyone looking for a professional, compassionate, and trustworthy stamp expert. A true 5-star experience. read more

I had a stamp collection which had been stagnant and just sitting in boxes for quite awhile. It was just taking up space and since I had run out of steam on updating it a few years back, it was time to find someone to sell it to. I happened to have Nick's website bookmarked, so I checked it out and gave him a call. He answered right away (which was nice) and we spent around 10-15 minutes talking about my collection. He was really nice on the phone and asked me to send him some photos, which I did. Based on the photos, he expressed interest in purchasing my collection and we made arrangements for him to drive up and check things out. I can't tell you how awesome it was for him to drive 8 hours to look at my collection as sending it all to him would have cost me over $1000. He arrived on time and immediately started looking over my collection. He works fast as he has a really good grasp of stamp values and is able to judge very quickly what the value is. I would say it took him about two hours to go through everything and then he made me an offer which I considered very fair. Payment was instant via Venmo, so no worries about waiting for a check to clear. After that, we packed all the collection in his van, I gave him directions to a nearby spot to grab a bite to eat, and he was on his way. I'm still shaking my head a bit thinking about how all of this took place in the span of about five days. I can't think of how this could have worked out any easier or faster! Thank you Nick for being so easy to deal with and really going the extra mile to make things go smoothly. read more

We just sold our family stamp collection to Nick and he made the process so easy on us; I was surprised that he was wiling to pick them up 2 hours away and then dropped off a check after he reviewed the collection. We had a very positive experience. read more

We had a wonderful experience with Nick's Stamp. My grandfather left us an extensive stamp collection that we had been trying to get appraised for sale. We had talked to other buyers and nobody was as accommodating and kind as Nick was. He took time with us, and gave us a fair price for what we were trying to sell. We highly recommend him if you are looking to sell a stamp collection. read more

Nick is awesome! Great communication and super honest. I highly recommend if you're looking to sell a collection.

Nick came to my house and made an offer I was glad to accept considering my collect would be considered modern stamps, or stamps only 40 years old. He wrote a check for my collection, which I considered fair, especially when no one else cared to even consider buying it. So I'm happy!!! read more

Was trying to settle an estate during covid 19 and had a stamp collection. Nick agreed to look at it. I mailed it to him and the day he received it he made an offer, I accepted and he wrote a check and mailed it that same day. Never expected that kind of service. It really helped me out. Nick was prompt returning a call about a stamp collection that we were ready to sell. I waited to contact him till my day off, not necessarily expecting a call back right away. He called back and first asked for photos of the collection. I texted some to him. He was ready to look at the stamps that same day and bought the collection. I feel grateful that he bought the collection and feel he offered a good price. I would definitely sell stamps to him again. read more

Nick knew his stamps and was fair while I was helping a older friend sell her husband's stamp collection.

My son and I drove an hour to meet this guy after texting him pictures the day before of a collection that my world traveler great grandfather started back to the late 40s. We had about 8 binders and several boxes of VERY WELL organized stamps, appraisal information from years back as well as several envelopes of holiday stamps dating to the 1800s. When we pulled up, he came out the door of his home (no shop), barely said hello and said "what do you have?" We were expecting to bring in our collection and sit down with him somewhere but when we opened the trunk he immediately reached in , picked up a binder and flipped through it, set it aside, flipped through a second one, glanced around and said "You should use up some of these stamps", and that was it!! No other advice, no "Nice meeting you...NOTHING! The whole experience lasted less than 3 minutes! The guy had no mask on even though we did, so using Covid19 as an excuse is weak. He looked disheveled like he just woke up and was hung over, was horribly rude and frankly seemed to have ZERO interest at all. STAMP EXPERT? I seriously doubt it. It appeared as if he was looking for something in particular for HIMSELF more than "Appraising" our collection! Since then, we have sold less than 20 stamps individually to a Antique Stamp collector in the bay area for over $1,000 and he wants to do an appraisal on the entire collection. After telling him our experience with Nick he said there are a lot of "So called" experts out there just looking to cash in on someone else's naivety. Hoping to run across that cash cow stamp and buy it for pennies on the dollar from some unsuspecting person cleaning out the closet at grandma's house. read more

As I'm getting ready to move out of state, I decided it was time to let go of my mothers stamp collection. Nick was the dealer I chose to work with and I couldn't have made a better choice. He was cordial, professional, and ensured I understood what I had. He assessed the collection, knowing that it was the collection of a hobbyist and not an investor. He gave me a fair price. It was a relief to me to know that mom's stamps are going to someone who will use them appropriately. If you have a collection like mine, Nick is the right person to deal with when you are ready to sell. I recommend him highly. read more

A great experience. I'd accumulated a number of stamps over the years and was ready to sell the items that would mean more to others than they would to me. I spoke to a few other dealers before Nick, explained what I had over the phone and we agreed to a price subject to his seeing my materials in person. I brought them over the next day and received a check right then and there! Nick is a very personable businessman and family man; I'll bring more items to him in the future, and recommend him highly! read more

Nick was wonderful. He got back to me quickly, was very knowledgable and although my collection wasn't worth that much, he took time to explain some fundamentals to me. I would recommend him to anyone looking for an honest business. read more

I have been doing business with Nick for well over 10 years and know him well. He is a very honest man, always gives a good deal but does not over- sell. In the stamps business, you run into a lot of unscrupulous, dishonest characters. However, Nick is one of the good guys and a straight shooter. He will tell you the truth and not give you a line. Some collectors may not want to hear the truth thinking their collections are worth millions when actually they are not. Nick will give you an honest appraisal. He knows the market well and what things are worth. If you have a collection to sell, you should have no hesitation to call Nick. He will give you a good, honest deal. read more

Nobody replies to anything!!!! I called/emailed and nothing! Website is cryptic as what is really done...

As I was helping my parents downsize, I took home my mom's large stamp collection. She was ready to let it go and didn't expect anything for it. I told that to Nick, and said I knew the collection wasn't worth much. Still he insisted on evaluating it and giving my mom a fair price. He also took (and paid a fair price for) two jars of coins, just some random pocket change from my parents' travels. I am so impressed with Nick's knowledge, professionalism, and honesty. I would definitely trust him if I were selling or buying stamps again. read more

I had a very positive experience with Nicholas when it came time to sell a grandparent's cherished stamp collection. From the first phone call through to the sale, he was professional, respectful and pleasant. Nicholas educated me on the collection and the types of collectors. It was clear he had a passion for this hobby, which made it easier to sell. I felt comfortable with Nicholas from the start. He even went out of his way to return some pieces I meant to pull from the collection. The whole process was a positive experience. I believe this business is falsely advertised. 1) It lists business hours but no specific location, does not list that it's a home office. It says first step is to call but didn't even answer their phone during their business hours. So I submitted a contact form. 2) First, when I got a call back I got some attitude from him. When I spoke with Nick I did find convenience in being able to text him pics of the collection, but he couldn't possibly get a great idea of what their was without seeing in person. Which he then advised that it wasn't worth it and I should just use the stamps or donate them. Seriously?! That's not why I'm inquiring to your business. It's to sell valuable stamps, which I know for a fact there are several that are worth $100s and $1000s, but he won't even take the time of day. 3) Initially he said he's busy and to come next week, that's not how business hours work. You're either available during them or they're not your business hours. 4) He said "No one buys stamps anymore." So I guess you're out of business then, huh, bud? Good luck making a living with that attitude. At this point even if he did want to do business I'm not interested in giving my business to someone like that. Common courtesy, customer service. Why even have a stamp business if no one is buying stamps? Why have business hours when you don't want to adhere to them? Many flaws. Look elsewhere for your stamp needs.. read more

I recently inherited a stamp collection from my uncle, loosely packed into 4 large boxes, amassed over about 80 years by three different relatives. I found Nick's stamps through a Google search, contacted him through his web site, and then received a return email within a few hours, and had subsequent contact via phone and text. We arranged a time and then I drove over to Nick's house and dropped off the collection. (Note that this is a home business--it's not a stamp shop, which was fine for me--I wanted to sell the entire collection in one lot, and this appears to be the specialty of this business.) A couple of days later Nick called me up and gave me an assessment of what was in the collection, the condition, and an estimated value. It was less than I had hoped for, since my grandmother had always spoken of "the stamp collection" as if it was something of great value. So for the sake of my grandmother's memory, I decided to take the collection to another stamp shop here in San Diego for a second opinion. When I picked up the boxes from Nick, he had partially organized the collection as part of his assessment. At the second shop (this one was an actual stamp shop), I didn't get much of a reception. The owners are elderly, and were actually kind of overwhelmed. I think they are not able to really assess a large, heterogeneous collection like that. They're more used to someone bringing in a shoe box with a few stamps, probably. In any case, after looking at the stamps a bit and discussing the contents, the dates in question, the way in which the stamps were acquired, I was told they could do a thorough appraisal at $75/hr. We talked some more, I told them Nick's estimated price, and they said I should just take Nick's offer. Same reasoning as Nick-basically, the stamps were mostly common, it would take a lot of time to sort and identify any that were of higher value, they hadn't been stored properly so even a "good" stamp would not command the possible highest price, etc. So I went back to Nick and sold the collection. Regarding the recent review of Meghan F--I wouldn't say it's false advertising. No, it's not a homey old-time stamp shop. It looks as if most of the business is actually done via shipping of collections, not via a "storefront" kind of operation. Maybe he shouldn't post "business hours" because I can see how that would lead to the expectation of a storefront presence. Nick is a straight talker and that may have put off Meghan F, especially since she seemed to be expecting to be able to retire on the proceeds from the sale of her stamp collection. But in my experience, Nick clearly knew his stuff, spent time (efficiently) looking through my collection, communicated in a timely manner, and gave me a realistic appraisal. And no, I don't post a lot of Yelp reviews--in fact, I've only done it for a couple of small one-man operations that had treated me more than fairly and I felt could use the review. John read more

I never leave reviews for companies, but this time I had to. I inherited a big stamp collection from my grandfather who just passed. I am completely clueless about stamps myself. I live in San Diego so I started calling local dealers. I got 3 different appraisals, but they all seemed so low. One of my coworkers referred me to Nick's Stamps. At first I was a bit reluctant because this company is based out of Orlando, FL. To make a long story short, I ended up shipping my stamps across the country to get an appraisal. They offered me 40% more than the 3 local dealers here. The man I dealt with over the phone was just a pleasure to deal with. I didn't feel as though he was trying to rip me off like the others. He was completely honest with me. He was even telling me how I could sell them myself online if I wanted to. Needless to say, I'm glad I was referred to this company. read more

I inherited a very large stamp collection early this year when my brother passed away and I spent about 6 months going through it and trying to assess what sort of value the collection was worth. I knew that a significant amount of money had been spent in purchasing the collection over the years because many of the receipts were still in the boxes. I spoke with several dealers in my area but was struggling with finding the right person to help educate me as well as appraise the collection. I decided to search again for another dealer when I came across Nick. We connected via phone and talked about what I had and I was able to ask some questions and I felt very comfortable that I was speaking with someone who would give me a fair appraisal. Nick came to my home, 1 1/2 hours from where he lives, and spent several hours going through everything. He answered a number of questions that I had from my research and made me an offer that I felt was fair and honest and I was happy to sell the collection knowing it would ultimately be enjoyed by other collectors. I would highly recommend Nick to anyone who wants straight answers about the current value of what you own. Thank you Nick for making this process easy for me! read more

I'm giving a 5 star rating because I don't want to skew the rating scale unfairly, but I do want to note - for others - that Nick's buys and sells large collections of stamps. So if you're looking to buy small lots of stamps for artistic purposes - for decorative use on envelopes, for example - they don't do that here. I didn't know there was a difference in how stamp shops operated and drove out to La Mesa only to discover that they don't sell small amounts. read more
