We stopped for lunch on a road trip. First time at Nick's. Perfect lunch place. Service was friendly. My wife had a great Greek salad and I had a club sandwich with fries. All good. Restrooms very very clean. Recommend highly.

A local steadfast and community hub, this sentinel of Madison is open on generators in the roughest of storms. As a kid I canoed here the morning after hurricane Sandy. This is my it pains me to leave this review. The quality of the food is a 0/10, their idea of an omelet with cheese is a Kraft singles plopped on top. Their potatoes are bland as soap and their hash is both from a can and worse than most types of dog food. Their cinnamon toast is Stop and Shop brand, and somehow not even the good kind. Their prices are the same as better quality local options. Service is decent, two staff today, regular rounds, kindly locals. 4/5. Ambiance is 4/5, the old style was a quintessential 70's diner but the son's renovations have brought it to an early 2010's vibe. It has those gray panel floors from HGTV, you know the ones. There are those posters, advertisements, community wall, it's cute. This review is poor because of the food.

    Perfectly cooked prime ribs

We went to Nicks Place a month ago, we're still talking about the magnificent prime rib dinner we had. The service was excellent as well.

This is the only breakfast place I'd ever go to- their prices are the best on the shoreline and the eggs are cooked perfectly every time.

The fireplace perfect on a cold winter evening. The food prepared with finesse. Even something as simple as the fries were above average-likely the oil used. For the portion and preparation and everything the food was priced very fair. The service was fast and friendly. A great place to watch the sunset and they have what looks to be a nice deck when it's not mid winter. We will be back again.

The crab and corn chowder was delicious though lighter in crab than I would have liked. Could have been "the pour" I guess. The Asian Salmon was delicious and something about the basmati was just right. Others got the crab cakes dinner, and the chicken salad wrap w fries, and the cod dinner. everyone was pleased and all plates were empty at meals end. We did notice it was hard to hear at the height of the busy time but wonderful to talk as it cleared out. There is beautiful art decorating the walls. This added to the homey feel. A nice variety as well. I especially noticed the quilted and framed art which were delightful birds and nature scenes. Some appeared available for sale and at very reasonable prices. Very nice spot, well recommended.

This is our second attempt to come here, we finally made it. Our first attempt, the line was out…read morethe door, and every outdoor table was taken on a hot summer day. This time around, there was ample seating outside, but it was way too hot to sit outside, so we settled for inside, which was pretty comfortable. Menu offered your typical seafood variety of fried foods, as well as some soups, and hotdog. No Fox and park over here, unfortunately, and that was an absolute buzz kill! Regardless, we stayed hopeful since we've heard some great things about this place. Ordered the flag cramp strips with tater tots, 6 ounce lobster roll and an order of clam fritters. I was really excited to try the clam fritters as I had never had them ever. The weight was manageable, we waited maybe about 15 to 20 minutes for our food. They bought it over to our table, and the initial site, the lobster roll was a nice copious amount of lobster on a rather beefy hotdog roll. The fright clams were also a nice amount, but they did not look fried enough, there was no golden aura to them as typical clams look, and this look concerning. The clam fritters consisted of six balls of clam fritters, and they looked beautifully, golden, a color that's so lacked on the clams. Now let's talk about the food and flavor... The lobster roll was pretty solid. My one source of contention here is the amount of bread on the roll, a little too doughy compared to what I am used to. But the lobster itself was nice, flavorful, and sweet and not overkill with butter. The clam strips were got awful! No crispiness to them, no flavor, they were actually soggy, and even the tater tots, which are generally delicious, there was no flavor to the tater tots as they needed a little more cooking time to them. The clam fritters were surprisingly good, it wasn't just fluff of filling, they were actually clams in there, and the breading definitely had clam juice flavor to it. This is a hike for us, and I don't think it's worth it for us given other places like the mottos in New Haven, which is always consistently good. We tried once and we're good... And if we're in the area sadly we won't be back unless I come with some lobster, loving friends to try that. 2 foot lobster roll for $190! We saw that, and that was quite the sight!!!
