As a New Yorker, I was excited when I stumbled upon Nick's, as it read "Authentic New York Pizza" on the window. I went in and asked the chef where in New York he was from. He said he was not (from Bangladesh, just a little bit away from NY). He pointed to the cashier who was from NY. I asked her and she said she is from Tennessee but lived in Brooklyn. So I asked what her favorite place in Brooklyn was. Considering this was a pizza place, I thought that question was pretty self-explanatory. Her reply: the beach. When I clarified, she said some $1 slice in a train station that was now closed. It was clear that pizza knowledge was lacking here. The pizza was truly tasteless. There was near zero sauce so it was just dough and cheese. The garlic knots looked good, but probably just because I hadn't seen one in a few months. All in all, pizza of the same quality of New York is not available in Paris. read more

I spend half of my time in the USA and I can tell you this is the first time I have a real New York style pizza in Paris ! The margarita and the pepperoni are so good. Cheap and amazing pizza ! Alsatians have something called a flammekueche, or tarte flambée. A delicious flatbread topped with fromage blanc, onions and cured pork belly, it's the closest thing France's culinary tradition has to a pizza. It's not a pizza, though. The French simply aren't known for their pizzas. They are quite fond, unfortunately, of the kind you defrost in a microwave (seriously-a visit to any French frozen aisle will confirm this). Pizzaioli, the French most certainly are not; finding a good slice in Paris is no easy task. I'm also difficult to please when it comes to Pizza. I have eaten hundreds (literally) of slices of Chez Panisse's. I have eaten pizza in the Midwest, and indulged in plenty of slices in New York. Purely for professional purposes, I spent much of a year avidly sampling countless Roman pizzas (sorry, Doc!). I ate plenty more on excursions to Napoli. I've made my fair share of pizzas too. Pizza is far from my favorite thing to eat, but I'd like to think I know a thing or two about it and its consumption. This is a roundabout way of introducing Nick (and Nick's pizza). Nick is a New Yorker who has spent most of his life in France. About two years ago he decided it was time to give Parisian pizza an upgrade, so he opened his eponymously named pizzeria. Chatting with him is like talking to someone I have known for years. He's one of the most affable people I've ever met. His personality is winning and so is his pizza. I really appreciate how much pride Nick takes in it. His secret is probably the dough, which he lets ferment for three days. His sourdough is delightfully tangy and crisp. The first slice I had was Margherita dotted with pesto. It was daringly garlicky; it was almost dangerously garlicky. I loved it. I've been back to sample a smattering of his slices and none disappoint. The other thing I'm very fond of are his cheekily named house sodas like "Nick's not-Red Bull," which are good and can be refilled as much as you'd like for 1 Euro (he cheekily explains that he doesn't think sugar-water should cost more than that). read more

As Americans in Paris, NYC style pizza seemed like an odd thing to search out. With a fussy eater of a kid - it became a little more important. Nick's was absolutely as good as it gets in Paris; compared to good NYC pizza - good meaning those shops you walk up to, and all that need be said is 'a slice' and it's done - it would fall a bit short. Given that standard alone, I'd give it a solid 'B', maybe a C+. But this ain't NYC, and NY style pizza is an odd touristy sort of food here - which typically means a a pile of inedible flavorless crud, or French fries. So given that aspect - Nick's knocks the ball out of the park! I'd add it's in a great, bustling neighborhood with a ton going on all around; that the shop is tiny and warm and friendly, and that the staff we encountered spoke English well. I was looking to grab a bite before heading home and on my way I remembered Nick's pizza place that was featured on David Liebovitz' s instagram account last week. So... if it is good for David then it is good for me! Tried their margharita, a large slice with tons of cheese on it and the mini garlic buns. It was good for the price I paid (3€ for the slice and 1€ for the garlic buns) The thin crust, my favourite, was good and it was very generous in cheese. They do offer some toppings as garlic powder, Italian herbs, dried red pepper... and they served it very hot. Please don't expect some fancy place or flavour, it is very simple and offers few seats to eat ur slice (s) and go. Don't come with a group and expect to sit in. I saw many people actually eat their slice just out the door. During my visit, I nocited that most of the patrons were very familiar with the place and get greeted with a friendly welcome. It really feels like a tiny good neighborhood place to grab a bite frequently. The team is very friendly and make you feel at ease. Would definitely come back if I am in the area and want to treat myself to some comfort food. read more

For an American living in Paris, this tastes like home. And Nick seems to be a sweet guy!

My husband had us walk from the Lourve area, all the way to this pizza place really late one night. I made sure to bookmark it so I would write a review when we returned. My review my not be respected because some may say I don't know what pizza should taste like. I have had AMAZING pizza in Italy that is far away from the tourist location and eaten with an Italian family in Florence. I just don't want my review diminished because some may think I don't know pizza. :) First I want to say that the guys who work here are extremely nice and friendly! They were so welcoming and even gave us extra bread, though I did not need the extra carbs. We really enjoyed visiting with them at the restaurant. Now on to the pizza. I had much better pizza at the airport in Milan. I hated everything about this pizza. I ordered a 4 cheese with no pizza sauce and it was extremely bland. In my opinion, they do not use the best quality cheese and you can taste it. It was thin and dry with no flavor. Then I ordered a pizza goat cheese pizza with tomato sauce. It is the sweetest tomato sauce we have ever had. It taste like a bag of sugar was in it. Again nice guys, but you can find better pizza elsewhere. read more

My husband and I were in Paris for the weekend when we stumbled upon this pizza place while looking for an ATM. It did not disappoint!! Having lived in Germany for the past two years, you can imagine how excited my husband (whose from New Jersey) was about eating pizza that reminded him of home. It's authentic NY style slices were delicious! We were lucky enough to meet Nick and loved hearing how he got started. Such a nice guy and his pizza is spot on! That place was disappointing; I was expecting better given the good reviews on Yelp. We tried 2 slides (€4 each) and both were a bit meh - too salty, not crunchy enough, lukewarm (and it was not that late in the evening). Won't be back! read more

Extremely nice and humorous staff! We ordered a large pizza for 28€ for 3 hungry germans. Our favourite was the chicken bbq pizza. Wunderbar! At our first visit we received complimentary garlic bread (which usually costs 1€ for 2 pieces) and the second time we went there the boss himself gave us free drinks! I read that this was the best pizza in Paris, so I went to give it a try. I AGREE. Delicious pizza, at a reasonable price too. I had the Chicken Pesto slice that I will never forget; it was a one-of-a-kind pizza heaven. The toppings are not skimpy, like Meghna implies below, and they all looked homemade and delicious.
