A&A Towing & Wrecker Service

A&A Towing & Wrecker Service

I called AAA for a tow about a month ago for a small Subaru truck with a trailer hitch, on level…read moreground--gravel road. The A&A driver lowered his truck bed and attached the chain to the front of the chassis. The bed angle was quite steep, and it was clear that the back of my truck wouldn't clear the ground. We talked about it and he agreed. I suggested that he change the angle of the bed on the tow truck. He said that he couldn't do that. Short story, AAA called another company that quickly and easily performed the tow. Today, AAA called A&A again for my son's Toyota Camry. It was parked in a flat convenience store parking lot. I waited the suggested time (1.5 hours) then drove to the convenience store, worried because I hadn't heard anything. About 10 minutes later, the same driver showed up. He had not called. He pushed the car to his tow truck (why instead of backing up to it? I don't know) and hooked it up from the front. Then walked to me and said "You need to sign this." "This" was a hand written note that said he/his company weren't responsible for any damage to the bumper. Really? I asked why, and he said that the bumper was XXXX (sorry, I didn't understand what he said). I said that the bumper was standard issue, and he said "You have to sign." I said, "No, let's look at it. I don't have to sign anything." We walked up, and the car had been pushed to the lip of his truck bed, and attached to the chassis. It was clear that at the angle and closeness of the truck bed lip and the bumper, that the bumper was going to pay. I suggested that he realign it. I reminded him that we had dealt with a similar issue before. He called his boss. I spoke with Josh (owner of A&A--I wasn't given a last name). He remembered the situation with my Subaru. He said that we would tell AAA that I refused service. He stated that they tow all kinds of cars, including Porsches (not sure why he brought that up, but ok?!?). I said that I was thought there was an equipment or training problem, and that I thought that needed some review, based on my experiences in a single month. I asked why I was being asked to sign something, and he said that it was company policy. Well that of course may be but I wasn't asked before and I wouldn't expect a company policy to be enacted with a handwritten scrawled request. He reiterated that he would tell AAA that I refused service. I said that was fine, and that I would call AAA myself and report the problem as well. So, I did. I spoke with an internal manager there. She reviewed the notes from the two calls, and my retelling of my experience. She agreed that there was indeed an issue (in fact, several issues from competence, professionalism, courtesy and communication), and that the local representative agent would respond accordingly. Both A&A and I will be notified of the investigation, finding and action taken. So yes, I took pictures of the truck, license plate, bed angle, hook up and disclaimer request. I will be happy to share them with Yelp users, AAA, A&A and the BBB, if requested. I have used AAA since the early 1990's. I have never, ever had an issue before these last two incidents. I trust that they will rectify it. In the meantime, just sharing my very, very negative experiences. Yelp requires me to post at least a star (Eek, methinks not) but if I could post an 0, NO STAR, then I would.

Two days ago my husband and I were traveling through the area on the way to my husband's back…read morespecialist(he's had back surgery and unfortunately the closest specialist is by ATL). Our truck broke down and we called AAA. We were supposed to go to the Ford dealership, but the driver promised us that it would be cheaper to go to their shop. That's a laugh! It cost us almost $850! We even showed him where Wal-Mart had the parts for less. I've since reported them to AAA, the BBB and have even gotten a lawyer involved. STAY FAR AWAY FROM THIS BUSINESS!!! My husband even had to miss four days of work due to the fact that the winch on the tow didn't work and the guy, knowing that my husband's back was bad, asked him to help him push the truck up the ramp and onto the pull along car carrier. The whole thing was so messed up, that I don't even have enough room here to put everything.
