Virginia Beach Pools does not complete work in a timely manner and the people employed by them to install pool liners/spas, etc have the filthiest mouths I've ever heard. Once the owner has all or most of your money, he won't return your calls or complete the project.
I signed a contract on for installation of dry well with electric pump, pool liner, hot tub, concrete around spa and under a gate, and pool light. A better drainage system also was to be installed. $4,800 remitted on signing. Was told work would begin in 2 weeks or less and be completed in 3 weeks of less after that. Anticipated final date to complete work April 30. To date: dry well is in as is the pump within this dry well but the plug for the pump remains on the concrete since the electricity has not been wired in as promised. Moreover, the dry well appears to be caving in in the middle. WE HAVE TALKED TO the owner, NICK, ABOUT THIS AND HE SAID HE WOULD HAVE SOMEONE COME BY AND FIX IT. We've been waiting for more than 2 months.
Liner installed along with spa, but clips to hold the liner up and in place have not been installed and the light is not installed. We still have not received an owner's manual for the spa. Concrete and tape stains are on the sides of the spa. A plate under the spa's spillover to keep water from getting under the spa is just taped on; was told that they could not get the cement (concrete?) into the spot without getting cement into the pool. Cement is, however, splattered across the liner near where the spa was installed. Again, Nick has been informed about this to no avail, though he always says that someone will come out and take care of this.
The spa spontaneously flushed out all the water twice. When we finally reached Nick, he told us that this had happened to other customers and would be fixed with the installation of a check valve. We're still waiting for this to happen (3 week wait at this point).
Several sprinkler pipes were broken during the digging for the spa, dry well, and drainage pipes installations. First they claimed that they had repaired the breakage AS THEY went. This is not true. Nick told us he would send his sprinkler person out to correct the problem. We've been waiting 8 weeks for this to happen. Our grass and gardens are dying because we can't use the sprinklers.
When the concrete was poured to surround the spa, no expansion joint was placed along side the existing concrete pads that surround the pool. The metal spacer that was there has disappeared and thus we have no expansion joint.
When the electricity for the light was supposed to be wired into our existing electricity near the pool pump/spa pump/heater, the Polaris pump was disconnected and the wiring for that was used for the wiring of the (nonexistent) light. The wires were taped together (incompletely) with a piece of white tape and look like a jumbled mess now in a once uncluttered pool pump area. Polaris pump was left to rust on the ground by the heater.
We have called NICK repeatedly (usually 4-5 times a week). He used to promise that he'd send people out the next day or so to address the issues. People rarely showed up and when they did, they worked an hour or so but never completed all of the above. Nick now refuses to answer when we call and he does not return messages. WE have paid all but the last $1,200 owed, which is to be paid at time of completion. To date, we have paid $22,800. Once Nick collected the last of the staggered payments, he seemingly has disappeared and won't return our phone calls. Though we have filed a complaint with the BBB, we aren't seeking restitution from or punishment of the owner. We just want the work completed. This project has lasted three long, hellish months.
Save yourself the grief and hire another company if you want a liner replacement, repair, or installation of a pool or spa. At best, the owner is totally a disorganized manager, and at worst, possibly a crook. read more
