My family didn't place dad there blindly, it was by choice, after weighing all the options. We have a family member who is a long term resident there currently as well as a long time family friend who is there too. They love the care they receive and the staffers they receive it from. Their recommendations were well received. From the moment I entered the front door and was greeted by the front desk attendant Lana, I knew dad was in a great, loving, caring and Holy place. I went up to dad's floor, was greeted by every staff member I passed. Not just on my first visit, but every visit. No matter how busy they were, every single person said hello. As time went on, those greetings were by name. It truly felt like dad was being cared for by loving family. My visits only lasted a week or so as I live about 700 miles away, but my experience and my opinions of my dad's treatment are fact based. He could not have received better care anywhere else. The facility was spotless, well maintained and the staff all love why they do. It takes a special kind of person to do this work. Ozanam is blessed with the best. Ozanam is even updating the rooms one floor at a time. It's nice to see the investment back into the facilities. The office staff was extremely helpful, kind and very communicative. They assisted in every way possible, making the daunting logistics of dealing with the insurance companies a less daunting part of the experience. I could not ask for better! I'd like to name everyone I met there who cared for me dad and assisted my family throughout, but I would have to name every person in the public eye as well as everyone behind the scenes there. By God's plan, my dad, Donald B. declined due to advancing medical conditions. He received great personal care and was treated with dignity up to and beyond when he took his final breath. He passed on Sept 22, peacefully in his sleep. The staffers who knew him were as sad as we are. Thank you to everyone at Ozanam Hall of Queens for all you do for every person in your care every day. To date, I have religiously attended twice weekly sessions for about 8 weeks, with at least that amount of time to go prior to termination. My experience this time has been superb! My therapist has consistently, expertly and sensitively worked with me so as to improve my level of post surgical functioning. I am more than pleased with the help I have received. The Dr. requires quad strengthing and range of motion exercises and Christopher ran him through the paces, he also gave him online exercises to accomplish at home. I can see Christopher cares about his clients well being and just doesn't go through the motions. There is a private parking lot in the rear which is a plus. Due to Covid restrictions you must mask up before entering the facility and have your temperature checked before entering the workout area. This place gets busy so book early for future appointments. Even though she "left the appointment open", she pressed me in a quick tone that I had to cancel on Zocdoc myself- presumably so their office wouldn't get charged for the referral. They are helpful if you're in need of No Fault, Worker's Comp or just rehab. Julie asks simple but important questions regarding your case, what options are available and what you should do which were very helpful. She is knowledgeable about the workings of insurance so ask her if you have anything you're not sure of and she will direct you in what you can do. Eric is always helpful in getting you on track with your rehab routine. Encouraging with suggestions on how to perform the exercises and tips to get them done right so you're getting the most benefit for the time you're spending rehabbing . Alex, is the new guy covering this location. He's studied various methods, skilled with the manual massage therapy and with use of blades to work out your muscles. When I was unexpectedly injured and my back was affecting my ability to attend and perform my rehab exercises he was able to work on me to alleviate the pain in my back and get me back on track. There are other therapists as part of the Movement Concepts company so there is coverage if someone is on vacation or out sick and their good too. The atmosphere here is one where you're like in the TV show 'Cheers', where everyone knows your name. You're in a comfortable setting which promotes your attendance and encourages you to work harder to speed up your recovery. It's not always too busy so the sound levels at good. They have a TV and/or Music playing which keeps your mind off any pain you're working through and the time passes away quickly. Parking like most locations on Northern Boulevard can be difficult and is best in the morning to early afternoon hours as evenings after work are possible but you may have to search some at times. They have arm bikes, leg bikes and a few other machines. Additionally they have exercises bands and ropes along with Heat & Ice therapy and Electro Stimulation machines, other equipment like stacked steps, agility ladder, balancing board and various other equipment. Not every place is everyone's piece of cake, but if you come you'll know this is the place for you. Your rehab depends on you. I know that there is pain which is part of rehab. If you can go through the fire within reason Alex will guide you and help you attain a full recovery as quickly as possible.
