Best Handyman on the Peninsula I don't write public reviews often. But I have to say we have a terrific handyman and his name is Nick Fleres (415-793-6549). Nick is an alert, energetic and efficient guy who has been consistently reliable. He has a sizable wealth of experience. and is an impressive problem solver and a good communicator. Recently we had a stubborn sliding pocket door jam. Nick wrestled with it briefly, returned to his van to get a tool and in a finger snap, corrected the door and frame alignment; no fuss, no muss. read more

if I could give Nick and his team 10 stars, I would. this man is SO nice and efficient! ensured to tell me he was vaxxed and masked up since I had a little baby in the house when he came in to fix my disposal. I will be calling on Nick and his team in the future for all of my house needs. Honestly, would also love to just invite him to a family BBQ too- you don't come across many people like this in the Bay Area anymore.! read more

I've worked with Nick and Dan multiple times and they have been nothing short of amazing. Any little project I need done - They are right there to assist! read more

Not only is Nick and crew professional they are great people to work with. We had a house full of crown molding and baseboards that needed to be painted. Guys came in and made our home look new. Also did some outside work on eaves. Matched our house paint perfectly and replaced with quality wood. They became like family members! We found our handyman. Thank you Nick, we look forward to working with you again. read more

Nick Fleres - Front door, crown molding and baseboards. - Handyman Near Me

Nic is awesome. He is fast in responding and scheduling. He has handled several different tasks for us now efficiently, including plumbing. Very reasonable price and pleasant to work with. Good sense of humor as an added bonus! He has a wide skill set and I highly recommend him. read more

I was referred to Nick from Nextdoor.com. We remodeled a bathroom last year and the exhaust fan never seemed to work. After mopping up the ceiling from condensation for the 10th time, I decided to get some help. I called Nick and he came by to take a peek. They do not make men like Nick anymore. He was gracious and honest and truthful. He wasn't sure what the problem was and would need to come back to pull the fan from the ceiling. Back he came and pulled the fan from the ceiling. He was able to visually see the problem (flap door to the vent was stuck shut) quickly and charged me literally nothing. As with most homes, ours has a never ending list of things to be fixed. I am so grateful to reach out to Nick to help! read more

Our basement had water coming in during the most recent storm, but we were away on vacation so couldn't handle it. We called Nick on the strength of his NextDoor recommendations, putting a lot of trust in him since we were going to need to let him into our home when we weren't there. Even though it was just a small job and I'm sure he had better things to do that night (it was Christmas Eve!), he promptly made the time to get out there and fix things up so the carpet wouldn't be moldy when we got back, and reduce the water coming in. His price was also extremely reasonable. He's not only skilled, he's also kind, and I'm thrilled to have found such a great handyman. read more

Nick is awesome! Responded back to me, did an initial consult, did the prep work and finished the job all under 2 hours. Friendly, knowledgeable and easy to work with. I have now found my handyman here in San Mateo! read more

Another happy customer here. Nick is professional and on-time. He's helped me on several occasions with random home problems (once with a storm door, and another time with a strange noise in my attic). I found him through numerous neighborhood referrals through on a competing website :-) and think highly enough of him and his work ethic to also recommend him here. I wouldn't limit his expertise to painting; he's an all-around handyman and a true neighborhood gem. Thanks for your help, Nick! read more

Had problems with our garbage disposal. Nick was quick to return my call, quick to come out, and did a professional job! Highly recommend!

If you are looking for a good and honest handyman, you have to call Nick Fleres. I'd give him 20 stars if there's such an option. Nick was quick in returning my call and came within the hour. He is a honest man who really cares. He not only helped me getting the job done, he went BEYOND my expectations. He's an extraordinary person with a tremendous heart. He's now the only handyman I'd call for help around the house. It's extremely hard to find someone as trustworthy as Nick nowadays. Give him a call, you'll be very happy with his work. read more

I called Nick, asking him to do a bunch of repairs, and he came over the very next day. He was lightning-quick to assess what needed to be done and he and his son, Daniel, did an excellent job. They were friendly yet extremely efficient. Nick gave me an estimate over the phone and he stuck to it even though one repair was far more complicated than first appeared. I've hired various handymen over the past 20 years and Nick is the best of all of them. I highly recommend him and plan to stick with him for all future repairs! read more

My experience having Nick and his crew replace my kitchen counters couldn't have gone better. His crew does high quality work quickly, and the original price Nick quoted me was the final price. He returns calls and texts immediately, and he and his crew show up reliably on time. I would recommend him to friends, and in fact already have. read more

Nick and his team did a great job in an emergency situation. We had family coming and a plumbing emergency four days before they arrived. Nick rearranged his schedule came in got it fixed including the drywall, paint, etc and went the extra mile. We highly recommend Nick and his team! read more

I found Nick's contact through NextDoor where a ton of my neighbors recommended him and I'm shocked a good man like him only has a few reviews on Yelp? Just hired him to do a project on our roof. At first I was worried nobody would take the job because it's so small. Nick not only came to do an on-site visit as promised but also got it done on the same day and brought his son to help him! The price was very honest. He's one of those that bear customers' best interest in mind instead of just making those $$. We have another few small projects we want to do later this year and he will definitely be my go-to person for any such needs around house. Highly recommend him to those who are looking for a reliable handyman. read more

What a wonderful handyman who helped me,when I needed a small drywall problem in a second bathroom. I also needed help in the recent storm, with a window problem. I have a couple doors that need new weatherstripping and also a couple boards in my fence need mending. He is dependable and doesn't overcharge. read more

Nick is friendly responsive and very reasonably priced. He fixed my backyard gate and hung a mirror and a picture for me. Very comfortable having him in my home. Local guy and enjoyable to work with. Highly recommend you give him a call first before looking at other options. read more

We had a vacant rental with a lot of water damage on one wall in March at the start of covid restrictions. We were hoping to get the work done quickly. I found Nick on yelp and called him. He got his guys in there right away and got the job done within a couple of days. We have used him for various projects since. He is always on time, his projects are done when he says they will be done (unless there are additional problems out of his control), he is fair in his pricing, and he's an all around great guy! He communicates well, sending texts and pictures of the work. I will continue to use him as he is trustworthy, good at what he does, very personable, and extremely grateful! read more

Nick remodeled a neighbor's bathroom and also prepped a friend's home for sale. Both of them sing his praises and now it's my turn. Nick removed a poorly installed room from our basement, and also cleared insulation that became a literal rats nest. All gone now, and basement is swept and vacuumed clean. Nick brings the A Team of fast and friendly guys with good judgement. As he worked with us, friends and neighbors who knew Nick came by to say hello and chat. He is well loved in town and for good reason. A few months ago, we had a drainage in our bathroom and couldn't get ahold of a plumber. Nick was able to come that day and make things right again. He does small and large jobs with the same good cheer. Thank you, Nick! read more

Nick is a fantastic! I've worked with dozens of handymen before (used to manage a construction company), and he's hands down my favorite. Always offers the lowest price quote on the market and his quality of work is top notch. Super honest and reliable. Great human being and someone I can trust professionally and personally. read more

i am so happy I called Nick based on what others have said about his work. I told him I needed someone to put together a patio set that I received for my birthday. He asked when my birthday was & I said today. He said he would get the job done that day so I would have it for my birthday. He did a excellent job. Everything I heard about him is true. He is an upfront, no nonsense, honest person who takes pride in his work & feels responsible to do his best for you. It is a relief for me to have someone i can trust to be reliable, honest & do excellent quality work. read more

I recently contacted Nick about hanging some curtains. He was great to work with! Responsive, friendly, very fairly priced, and the curtains look awesome. I saw referrals for him on Nextdoor and I'm so glad to have found him. read more

Nick was very professional and honest - I trusted him in my home while I was at work to paint my kitchen and he did a great job. The kitchen is fresh and new and he cleaned up so well afterwards that I could move right back in without having to worry about cleaning up anything myself. I'll definately call upon Nick for other painting needs and for a floor replacement - try him out! read more

This review is so long overdue, but well-deserved. My previous experiences with various service providers in the Peninsula have been utterly disappointing. I could never find someone to come out and do the job in a reasonable time frame, much less do good work. Within 24 hours of our first phone call, Nick came to my house to evaluate the project scope and provided a verbal estimate. Less than 24 hours after that, he and a laborer were back in my house addressing the long laundry list of items that needed repair or assembly. Everything was done to perfection! Nick set expectations about what could and could not be done, and he exceeded expectations on everything he did work on. Nick also stayed within the quoted estimate. His work is not bargain basement cheap, but trust me....you don't want that. His rates are reasonable, and you only need him to do the work once! The icing on the cake: Nick has the best attitude and upbeat demeanor. He's a pleasure to have around....an absolute gem in every way! read more

Nick is amazingly the best! He painted my house inside and out including my shed. He installed new cabinets, installed the tile floor. Gave me lots of various ideas on how to improve my home. He had lots of referrals for electrical & gas work that needed to be done. He was kind to my kids and my dog. I'm sure if my mother was still alive, she would approve of him and would love him as well. read more

As Yelp says, 5 stars and Nick is as good as it gets! Nick is an excellent, reliable and reasonable handyman. He and his crew does everything from painting, remodeling, installations and more. Nick finishes one job and goes on to the next, there is never a delay. Nick is also very responsive, great communication skills and he knows EVERYONE. If you need a referral, he WILL have one. Very well connected! Give him a call, you will not be disappointed. read more

If I could give Nick 20 stars, I would! He and his crew just completed painting my house (inside and out), exceptional work. Extremely meticulous and thorough, very responsive to my family's needs and limitations, we couldn't be any more thrilled with the end result. Nick also has a big network of very competent people who can help with anything home related. If you contact Nick, he will respond back asap, guaranteed, that single quality sets him apart from all others in the home maintenance business! And as a lot of other reviewers have mentioned, he truly cares about the families he works with. read more

Nick was very responsive and accommodating. I called and 20 minutes later he was at my front door. Our dishwasher took a turn for the worse and he diagnosed the problem. Great experience! read more

Nick and his workers just did a fantastic job on a garage upgrade for us. They were very professional and I recommend them highly.

I found myself in a jam on Monday when I wasn't strong enough to replace a heavy trap door to the basement, leaving a gaping hole in my floor - not safe for my pet and child. I found Nick on NextDoor and called him after 5PM, not expecting an answer. Instead, he answered right away, arrived within a few minutes, and helped me out with a smile. He didn't even charge us for the help. We're looking forward to hiring him for a long list of repairs, and I'm so glad we found someone local we can trust. Thanks Nick! read more

Had a smoke detector that would not stop chirping on a Sunday afternoon. After I changed the batteries and did everything else recommended on YouTube, I called Nick. He was out of town and at a basketball game, but he walked me through a couple of steps. When those didn't work, he gave me the contacts for two electricians and said to use his name. Well, it did the trick. An electrician came out right away from Sunnyvale on a Sunday and took out the detectors, to be replaced. Thankfully, the chirping has stopped! Thank you, Nick!! read more

We had a really great experience with Nick this week, super responsive, professional and friendly. His team was thorough and communicative and I wouldn't hesitate to call for his help again in the future. read more

Nick Fleres told me he was a licensed contractor (he was NOT!) - he collected over $7000 from me and didn't do the job. He hired subs who then came knocking at my door asking for payment because although I paid Nick - he did not pay the painters or plumbers. They threatened to put a lien on my house. Don't walk away from this guy - RUN!!!!!!!! read more

I've used Nick for various jobs for a few years now and cannot recommend him highly enough. He has repaired drywall, fixed a light fixture, built a gate, painted and helped us fix up a room damaged by a flood. He always does great work, and leaves everything clean. He also helped me find a great gardener and roofer. His prices are reasonable, and he's just an all-around great guy. Definitely worth more than 5 stars. read more

You're not going to find anyone more skilled and honest than Nick. He can figure out anything -- structural, mechanical, electrical, whatever. We live in an old house and Nick is able to solve all the odd issues that arise. He even devised a hanging hook for a heavy, antique Spanish wall sconce. I bought it five years ago, but it's been sitting on the floor because no one could figure out how to hang it securely -- and I called in two handymen. That sconce is now hanging on my living room wall and it's not going anywhere! Nick is also one of the kindest people you'll ever meet. A real professional and a gentleman. read more
