He was the very first to respond to our request with an actual estimate --- when I also supplied multiple photos -- while 3 others wanted to first evaluate in person with an additional appointment, and last 1 said they did not actually fix leaking faucets despite that being listed on their business profile. My husband and I asked Michael after his initial very fair estimate if he perhaps could also fix some other issues for us at an additional cost -- a loose house siding board inside our light well, and two loose plumbing bits, a kitchen faucet and a bathroom sink hot water handle. He thought it best to come out for the initial cellar sink fix, and then evaluate the other 3 tasks in person, which seemed very reasonable. He made quick work of the cellar faucet, handily fixing our amateur attempted earlier repair into a straightened and 100% water-tight fix. Then he climbed into our awkward light well, only accessible through a waist-height open window, jacked up a ladder, inspected the siding and determined the loose board was luckily only a cosmetic cover for the original 1905 redwood siding, reattached the loose board and caulked the edges for good measure. Then he promptly fixed our loose kitchen faucet and wobbly bathroom hot water handle. I cannot recommend him enough -- 5 stars all around -- on time, friendly, thorough, gung-ho for awkward work fixes like our light well, and very fair pricing. I almost want more stuff to break in this old house to hire him again. Two definite thumbs up!

Guilherme texted me 15 minutes before our appointment to say that they were running behind schedule and would be at our home 20 minutes later than our scheduled appointment. I appreciated his communication with me that they were going to be late. When Guilherme arrived, he was accompanied by Isabella (who I learned was his fiancée who works with him). Doron was the first contractor that I spoke with about my project, and was by far the best experience that I had. He took the time to really look at my space, listened to my needs and specific requests, and gave great suggestions on how I could improve it. After taking measurements he sat down with me for over an hour patiently answering all of my questions. This was my first time considering a major remodel and he was great at anticipating where I would need guidance. He also showed me various completed projects in his portfolio and I was so impressed with the quality of his work. I could tell that he really takes pride in his team and his craftsmanship. Doron was able to provide me with an initial quote on the same day as our consultation. I ended up with further questions and changes, and he graciously set up a zoom call with me to address them the following day. Out of all the contractors that I spoke with, Doron stuck out for being the most passionate about his work and also the most detail oriented. I really appreciated his honesty with me about what I could reasonably expect. As this was my first project, I didn't have a good idea on what to expect regarding costs. Nick Fleres is a true angel! Just a few days before Christmas we found ourselves with a door that wouldn't close. Spending time in the house was miserable -- it was very cold and drafty. We called the local window and door stores but we could find no one who could help us. Then a neighbor recommended Nick Fleres. Boy, are we happy we called him. "Go fuck yourself!" is the last of several outbursts yelled at me by handyman Michael Andrews…read more He was hired to replace 2 rotted deck boards and repair dry rot on my threshold. At the preliminary meeting, I asked him how much he charged but he would only say, "I will be fair, and I will work with you," waving away my question. I mentioned I did not want to be charged for chatter, as he loves to talk. The oak threshold was warped and had to be exchanged. The 2 porch floor boards were also warped. It took him 3 hours to remove and replace 2 boards, which he did competently. Then he tried to install the new threshold, which was too thick for the space, as the door would not close. We noted the original threshold was not rotted; only the narrow horizontal strip abutting the threshold had rot. I asked several times that he use the old threshold, but he refused, instead trying several time consuming maneuvers, including removing carpet tacking, cutting the edges of the oak threshold, and trying to shim an already too thick threshold. Finally he was about to plane the oak when I protested again. He got increasingly more angry with me for asking he use the original threshold. Finally he waved me away, saying, "Get out of here, I am the professional." When I did not retreat as "commanded," he said, "I don't like you!" Soon after, he made a strange and uninvited attempt to hug me, only to regain his rage when I again requested using the original threshold. He slammed down his tools and left, returning with an additional board to shim the new threshold, which also failed. He finally agreed to reinstall the original threshold and replace only the dry rotted strip, which should have taken 30 minutes (see photos). His bill was $350 plus materials. He finally advised me he charged $85 per hour. We settled on $250, which I thought was excessive, but I was glad the ordeal was over. Later that day, I went out to prime the replaced strip, only to find the vertical door frame abutting the threshold was dry rotted as well. Photos show rotted area, which I cleaned out. He either did not notice or did not bother to advise me. He came over the next morning to see the damage, and began by yelling that he did not appreciate my accusing him of not addressing the additional dry rot. Naturally, I have hired someone else to complete the job. I am a 74 year old woman, and if I did not have better things to do, I would consider reporting him to the CSLB for elder abuse. Anyone who hires him needs to insist on an upfront estimate of charges, guard against his chatter adding to the time charged, and make sure that his work has been completed satisfactorily.

Firstly when everything arrived he didn't bother to open the box and see what hardware was included and what may be needed for the install. Then he did the initial install and blamed the parts for being bad. After a lot of back and forth with him and the company we decided to go a different route and purchase the main rail ourselves and have Jason fit it. The project that was supposed to take a few hours ended up taking days with Jason continually making excuses and blaming the product instead of taking accountability. At one point even saying to me "I'm not redoing this rail, we should just cut the door." A $3,000.00 custom door?!? Yeah no we're not cutting that. So he had to come back and redo everything again, this time chipping and damaging our barndoor and making the soft close in operable. By this point I had enough of his services so we paid him and were done with it. While he did offer to come help fix the scratches and gouges he made on the door, it was done so in a rude manner at one point even being extremely misogynistic towards my wife, needless to say we simply do not trust him to ever set foot in our house again. You're better off paying the extra money and going with someone that is actually licensed, bonded and insured. Learn from our mistakes and save yourself the time, money and headache.
