Dr. Cap was absolutely the best choice I could have made. I was a high risk pregnancy with a history of stillbirth so I was an absolute wreck. He never hesitated to go above and beyond to help me through my pregnancy, even coming in a day off because I was freaking out to do an ultrasound for me. He helped me through a natural delivery and gave me the birth I had dreamed about. I would never think twice to recommend him to my friends. You are lucky to have the opportunity to see him! Dr. Cap assisted me in giving birth to both my babies. My husband and I traveled from San Diego to have him attend both births. He is an awesome OB - excellent bedside manners, very calm (a trait you definitely would want in a doctor especially when you're in labor), down-to-earth, and supportive in natural birth. Gosh I where do I start....Dr. Cap is simply amazing. He helped me have the most beautiful birth with our son who was born via VBAC on 11.12.17. Dr. Cap is kind, warm, confident and reassuring. I'm so beyond grateful to have been recommended Dr. Cap. He delivered my first baby and now I'm pregnant with my second. One of the reasons I chose Dr. Cap is because he delivers his own patients so you know you're going to be in good hands. His team is awesome! Angie is amazing and is always on top of it! His office is super clean and welcoming. They even offer snacks in the lobby. What I love most about Dr. Cap is his natural approach. He doesn't pressure anything and always gives options. Hands down the best OB out there!!!! I had gone to Dr. Capetanakis based on a referral and I'm so very happy I did, which is why I decided to review him. Everyone should know what a great doctor he is and how much his team compliments his practice as well. From the minute you step in his office, (which doesn't feel like a normal doctors office might I add), you feel comfortable. It is an inviting environment, as are his staff. Everyone is happy, welcoming and smiling. Unlike some doctors, Dr. Cap has great bedside manner, and in fact, he often makes jokes to keep things light hearted and comfortable. He was our doctor for the birth of our first child and without hesitation, I can say that he made our birth experience much better than I think it would have been with a different doctor. He was always upbeat and excited to talk about our pregnancy and answer any questions. He is professional and knows what is best for you and your baby. He is much about as little intervention as possible (in my opinion) which was great! I was hell bent on going the "all natural" route and he helped guide me to success by taking into consideration my wants and needs as well as the baby's. He made important decisions when it was needed so that the health of myself and the baby were the top priority and at the end of it all we had an unmedicated, beautiful birth. I was hoping for a VBAC and due to baby having kidney concerns I had to be transferred to a maternal fetal medicine doctor, but was relieved to come back for follow up care with him. His office staff is compassionate, professional, and immaculate. I absolutely love him and hope that if we have another baby, we still be in this state so I can continue to see him. He has also placed an IUD for me and while it hurt he talked me thru every single step, gave me a little break and thanks to his patience and calm demeanor I made it thru. Cannot say enough good things about Dr. Cap! Everyone says that you cannot have a "perfect birth" but I would say that mine was... Mainly because of my Doctor and his staff! I had heard about Dr. Cap even before I was pregnant and kept his contact information in my back pocket. When we found out we were expecting, I immediately called and his sweet wife set us up with an appointment. She was always so easy to work with and Dr. Cap would always call me back right away if I ever had a question or needed anything - They are amazing! When I went to Dr. Cap I was very pleased. My first visit I was expecting a complete body checkup i.e. Pap smear etc.. However he did no such thing. Well, a few months later I moved back home to another state and my ob here did a complete body exam including a pap. He found a bacteria, that is very common, that could cause me to go into early labor and give me and baby complications. This is easily fixed with a around of antibiotics but if goes untreated is very dangerous. I also told Dr. C my concern with a few things and he told me we would worry about them after I had the baby. Well my new Ob looked into it and it turned out to be very serious and the doctor took care of those immediately. Dr.C didn't even want to look at what I was talking about. (Doing a thorough exam he would have seen these as well) I was very upset that Dr. C did not do a thorough exam. I am thankful I moved and had another doctor who did a thorough examination and found these things out. I just want to warn other women so they aren't put in dangers way and that they and their babies are safe. Very disappointing and scary!! read more

Lived up to his reputation, every pregnancy FB group I was a part of would recommend him over and over. I switched to him from Scripps Coastal at six months pregnant. He was everything my husband and I wanted in an OB. Completely patient friendly, willing to work with you to have the birth you want. Let me take an alternative glucose test when i didn't want to do the regular one, very laid back, positive and personable during each appointment. Front desk is outstanding, super friendly and supportive. Even their office and wait rooms are homey feeling. I got my successful VBAC with him and I'm pretty sure I wouldn't have had it without him, he was able to get my son out after he was stuck for a good two hours. A veritable god among doctors. A true mold breaker. I am not a lover of Western Medicine but Dr Cap is in a league by himself. My sons birth was VERY challenging. I am pretty sure that any other doctor would have gone for a C Section. Dr Cap informed us and let us get to a vaginal birth. My son and wife are healthy and happy and Dr Cap was a major player. My only complaint is the word is out and it's hard to get in. He can also run very late on appt times because he spends all the time necessary with his patients. Dr. Cap just delivered our healthy little boy and I couldn't be more pleased with my obstetrical and postpartum care. We are new to California and Dr. Cap's entire staff made us feel welcome when we entered their care at around 16 weeks. I have had 2 c-sections and one VBAC so it was also important to me to have a skilled doc that could handle potential complications. I will never have the words to really express how much my life was changed by Dr. Cap and his entire team. I transferred to him at 20 weeks. With no complications, the checkups were simple and easy. The entire office staff is kind and thoughtful; it's a beautiful facility; and you're given all of the information you need for a healthy pregnancy. I met with Michelle the midwife for a handful of visits and she was equally spectacular! But the real magic comes when you go into labor. I was alone when labor started due to my husband being away for training. I texted Dr. Cap and my doula and let them know what was going on. He called back right away and helped me stay calm and plan for what to do. I had my doulas support (Jen Graham - the best there is!) and together we decided when to go to the hospital. It was my time there receiving support and guidance from Dr. Cap that I will never forget. He spoke in a calm and collected manner about everything that was happening to help me feel safe and relaxed. He is gentle and asks before doing any kind of exam or procedure. During the last 15 minutes of pushing he coached me in a way that got my baby here quickly and safely, as well as kept me at ease. I never once worried about my delivery or baby because I saw and heard him tending to everything in the way that you only dream a doctor can do. I am eternally grateful for his care and support; there will never be a way to repay him for the experience I was able to have with my pregnancy and birth. There's no question that having a baby can be anxiety provoking. Get yourself registered with Dr. Cap and create the support team that will help you achieve the birth you want. Get a doula from his team. Go to the classes at CAP Wellness. It's so important to take care of yourself during pregnancy, so get that team started early. I found Dr. Cap at the advice of my chiropractor who is also a doula and am so glad I did. My birth was natural but very fast! Even though i basically walked into the hospital pushing, Dr. Cap kept a very calm demeanor and was able to help me be calm and talk me through the rest of my birth. He delivered my first child, 3 days before Christmas, and left in the middle of his own eye-doctor appointment to be there for my delivery. He's calm, confident, explains everything, and just brings reassurance with him whenever he enters the room. Now I'm pregnant with my second child, but have moved to another state, so no Dr. Cap. I'm practically in tears trying to find a doc that will deliver their own patients' babies (and not leave it up to whomever is on call), let alone one that can measure up to Dr. Cap in any other respect. If you are looking for a baby doctor, look no further, Dr. Cap is AMAZING! This review is long overdue. I actually found Dr. Cap on Yelp after moving to North County shortly after I became pregnant. My obgyn was in Hillcrest and I didn't want to have to make the trek down to the city all the time for appointments. I must admit I was a little apprehensive going to a guy doctor as my baby doctor, but that quickly vanished after our first appointment. It is a small family practice. His wife Angie works at the front desk. She is super sweet and always chatted with us as we waited to see the doc. We never waited long, which is a huge plus at a doctor's office. Dr. Cap is down to earth and I felt totally comfortable with asking him questions. Huge bonus is that we got sneak peaks of the baby frequently at our visits! I am actually pretty sure my husband was more excited to see and joke around with Dr. Cap at our visits, than to talk about the baby. (Okay slight exaggeration, but not far off hah). We actually didn't end up delivering with Dr. Cap, but that is a whole other story. The short and sweet version: I made a trip to Lake Tahoe for a friend's wedding 2 weeks before my due date, my water broke after the ceremony at the reception, and I delivered at a hospital in Tahoe (totally like a scene straight from a movie). Dr. Cap was nothing short than phenomenal answering our calls and texting my husband back and forth during my labor on a Saturday night. The doctor at the hospital in Tahoe was trying to push all sorts of drugs and I was set on having a natural birth. We were so fortunate to have Dr. Cap to help us handle the situation. At our 6 week post partum visit, he even said he takes credit for delivering the baby remotely. We will definitely be going back to Dr. Cap for baby number 2 and this time I will be staying right here in San Diego for my entire 3rd trimester. read more

Dr Cap was my wife's doctor when she was pregnant with our son. We moved into the area when she was already 6 months pregnant and Dr Cap treated us as if she'd been seeing him the whole time. I attended most of her prenatal appointments with her and he would spend as much time with us as we needed. We'd come with lists of questions for him and he'd sit down and go through each of our questions and concerns, even if he was behind schedule. He could not have been better through that important time. We were disappointed that he was not on call the evening our son was born to share the special moment with us, but he was there first thing the next morning to check in. I switched to dr Cap halfway through my pregnancy because I was looking for someone with a more holistic approach to birth and I am so happy that I did. Dr Cap is so great - he is compassionate, laid back, very thorough, dedicated to his patients and to his work and it really shows. He is not an alarmist, not someone who treats pregnancy like it's an illness, he would never suggest any unnecessary interventions and is a proponent of natural child birth. He makes you feel so comfortable, as soon as you meet him, takes his time and explains everything and answers all questions. I am a first time mom so I had a ton of questions during my pregnancy and he always spent time on addressing them and helping me feel relaxed and at ease. My birth involved more interventions than I had planned on/wanted but they were necessary, and throughout the whole process Dr Cap was attentive and considerate and I trusted him 100%. I couldn't be happier with the care I received from him, and his midwife (Ana). Only thing is - his amazing reputation is spreading and he's getting more and more patients which is great but I do think that sometimes it makes their practice a little less efficient administratively (I.e. Long wait times sometimes, scheduled apts not being in the books, etc). Minor little mishaps here and there, but the friendliness and compassion of everyone at that office makes up for it. I was striving for a VBAC after a tough recovery from my first daughter and I found Dr. Cap on yelp after moving to North county and not knowing where to turn.
