I didn't feel like he was ever rushing out appointments which was nice. I also liked that he wasn't too over the top with lots and lots of ultra sounds if it wasn't necessary. Midwife Chris ended up delivering my baby. It was an amazing experience, she really was incredible, and I hope I can have her deliver my next baby as well. I feel like I didn't thank her enough for being as good as she was. My whole birth experience was really awesome, especially as a first time mom Will be using them again in the future

Dr. Capetenakis misdiagnosed my Stage IV Deep Infiltrating Endometriosis. I was referred to Dr…read more Capetenakis by a functional medicine doctor, and was hoping that by establishing care with a "boutique medical practice", I would get the care that I so desperately needed. Long story short, I ended up having an excision surgery for Stage IV Endometriosis, and it was so bad that I also ended up needing a bowel resection. For being told multiple times during my visits that my pain was due to ovulation, my fibroids weren't an issue (he had women with 12cm fibroids get pregnant), and that the developing cysts on my ovaries were nothing to be concerned about, it was a genuine shock that my situation was so dire. My doctor that did the excision surgery shared that I had a life expectancy of 5-6 years if I had not been treated. With regard to the office experience, it is a shock that his office does not send out appointment reminders. According to his staff, they are too small. Given that my dog groomer, acupuncturist, and my therapist all manage their own schedules and send automated appointment reminders without issue, that is definitely an area of improvement. Especially when I was charged a $50 no show fee for an appointment that I never scheduled. All in all - they tried. However, when a patient is far too complex they should be referred out to another provider, not told that everything is fine and to move on. If it were his family, I doubt he would have taken the same approach as he did with me.

Ok- so my story is embarrassing- I'm OLD- and I've NEVER been to a Doctor for my Lady parts…read more (horrible experience as a teenager in a room alone with a male Doctor) I really needed to go and my sister referred me to DR Samina Makani. I have to say that DR Makani listened to my horror story and to my fears. She was VERY patient with me and explained everything. I survived. We discussed a minor surgery and I also needed to get blood tests. When my tests came back she wanted to meet with me which scared me but, it was so she could go over everything to make sure I understood. (which I really appreciated) She had a concern with one test and had me take it again in her office. I barely got in my car when one of the gals called to tell me I need to see a specialist. (I wanted to get through my surgery 1st and then I'd schedule that one) Surgery went well and my follow up appointment where DR Makani wanted to make sure i was healing properly went well. I would definitely recommend DR Makani

I initially began as a patient with Dr. Truong but later switched to Dr. Makhani in Encinitas,…read moreencouraged by friends who praised her HRT care. Unfortunately, my experiences with both providers have been consistently disappointing. With Dr. Truong, I often felt rushed and that she was distant. During my annual exam, she seemed more focused on the clock than on me, and I left feeling unheard. After switching to Dr. Makhani, I requested an order for a pelvic exam and ultrasound to monitor ongoing ovarian cysts, as well as to investigate a recent increase in migraines around my periods. Despite this legitimate concern, the office refused to order the exam. I had to go through my primary doctor, who had no issue sending the order immediately. Communication and support in Dr. Makhani's office have been poor. When I asked the front desk, including Nicole, for guidance on a location for my annual exam, no recommendations were offered. I ended up going to Perlman Clinic, where a female physician conducted a thorough, supportive exam that felt far more attentive and resourceful than my experience with Dr. Makhani's office. Even after preparing for a focused hormone consultation--including completing my annual exam, blood work, and Pap smear in advance--Dr. Makhani did not have my results. Despite texts from Nicole confirming they had received everything, Dr. Makhani tried to place blame on me rather than acknowledging the oversight. She promised to follow up regarding my blood work but never did. The situation worsened with new lab orders. The day before a critical blood draw, I called the office urgently because Quest Lab had no instructions from them--no fasting details, no clarification about which tests were to be run, including ferritin/iron tests I specifically requested. Despite multiple attempts to reach both the staff and the doctor, I received vague responses, resulting in wasted time and missed opportunities to complete testing during the first day of my cycle. A friend of mine reported a nearly identical experience, suggesting this is not an isolated issue. After five years of appointments with this office, I feel both Dr. Truong and Dr. Makhani treated me more like a number than a patient. Communication is inconsistent, follow-through is lacking, and even important health concerns--like monitoring ovarian cysts--were dismissed. Even my daughter did not feel comfortable there. At this point, I am starting over to find a gynecologist and HRT specialist who listens, communicates clearly, and follows through.

This review and experience is extremely important for anyone considering Dr. Chandra…read moreSpring-Robinson for endometriosis surgery or hormone-related care. I genuinely wish I had not spent most of this year trying to remain under her care, because I am now in the position of having to start over with another physician after losing so much time. Anyone with endometriosis understands how debilitating the pain, hormonal changes, fatigue, and disruption to daily life can be. No patient dealing with symptoms like these should spend months trying to access the physician responsible for their care, only to be told they cannot speak with her. I am incredibly disappointed to be writing this because I originally had a great deal of respect for Dr. Spring-Robinson. Earlier this year, I nearly left a negative review and then removed it after speaking with the office because I wanted to give both the practice and the doctor a second chance. By then I had already dealt with roughly months of mix-ups, repeated calls and emails, referral problems, poor communication, lack of follow-through, and significant scheduling delays. I tried to look past those issues because I trusted Dr. Spring-Robinson and wanted to continue my care with her. I also drive about two hours for appointments. I wish I had trusted my instincts then, because the situation has only gotten worse. Earlier this year, Dr. Spring-Robinson told me things should improve because she would be reducing the number of insurance plans she accepted. Unfortunately, from my perspective, access has become even more limited. Follow-up care now appears to be largely shifted to an NP or PA. I have an extensive and complicated medical and surgical history and have been waiting almost a year for a second endometriosis surgery with Dr. Spring-Robinson. I am now dealing with significant hormonal issues after stopping hormones and, after speaking with my endocrinologist, wanted to discuss with Dr. Spring-Robinson whether something like very-low-dose or microdosed estrogen might be appropriate. Instead, I have been told by Michelle and Abby that my chart says follow-up only with an NP or PA and that I cannot schedule an appointment directly with Dr. Spring-Robinson. I understand she is extremely busy, but this was never discussed with me as a change in how my care would be handled. I have already had a prior follow-up with an assistant and then needed an additional appointment with Dr. Spring-Robinson because the provider did not have enough familiarity with the complexity of my issues. I should not have to repeat that process for important medical decisions. I chose this physician for a reason. I did not choose a model of care where I have no reasonable access to her. I have no problem with NPs or PAs being part of a medical team. My concern is being told that, as an established patient with a complicated case who is awaiting another surgery with this physician, there is apparently no reasonable pathway to speak directly with the doctor about significant treatment decisions. That is completely different. At this point, it feels as though Dr. Spring-Robinson has chose to be hands off from her own patients. I do not understand how a physician can continue planning another surgery, and HRT but then be essentially inaccessible when that patient needs to discuss an important change in care. Today, I canceled my endometriosis surgery. I will also be writing directly to Dr. Spring-Robinson so there is a clear record of what has happened and of my conversations with Michelle and Abby. I am genuinely disappointed. I waited an extraordinary amount of time for this surgery and did not make the decision to cancel lightly. Continuity of care matters, particularly for a complicated patient. I cannot feel comfortable proceeding with another surgery when I am being told that afterward, or when another significant medical issue arises, I may not even be able to speak with the surgeon managing my case. I wish I had trusted my instincts when the office was such a mess earlier in the year. Unfortunately, what I was worried about then has now become a much bigger problem. I am also submitting a complaint to the Medical Board of California so the appropriate licensing authority can review whether this level of physician access and continuity of care is appropriate.
