I want to add an important follow-up to my original review. After trying to make an appointment with Dr. Chandra Spring-Robinson last Friday and being denied access to an appointment with her, which ultimately led me to write my original review, I ended up in the Cedars-Sinai Emergency Department on Sunday night. As I mentioned previously, I have serious and complicated hormone-related issues. I specifically need physicians who understand reproductive hormones and who are willing to work collaboratively with endocrinology to determine what is happening and how to appropriately treat it. Without going into the private details of my medical situation, Cedars-Sinai has now documented in my chart that they believe this extremely frightening episode is hormone-related, including possible involvement from the fact that I have only one remaining ovary. This is exactly why I had been trying so hard to obtain follow-up care with Dr. Spring-Robinson (per my endocrinologist) rather than simply being redirected to her PA. My concerns were not routine, and I was not asking for an appointment without reason. I had been experiencing significant hormonal symptoms and was actively trying to obtain appropriate specialist care before things escalated. Unfortunately, only two days after I was unable to get an appointment with her, those symptoms became serious enough that I ended up in the emergency room. I am sharing this follow-up because it further explains why access to the actual physician mattered so much to me and why I was so concerned about repeatedly being unable to speak with or see Dr. Spring-Robinson despite the complexity of my case. Another important point is that I spent apx. 3 months waiting for my first appointment with her as this journey started in November 2025 and only after my first appointment and more testing I was told surgery was 1 year out. As someone that also deals with pain management and surgeons for on going procedures it is usually customary to be transparent from the beginning when patients call to give them a heads up of how scheduling looks, not 5-6 months into the process. This gives the patient transparency on what to expect so they are not caught off guard months into the process wasting valuable time. read more

I am done with this practice. I sought care here because I have complex endometriosis and needed specialist input and diagnosis. Instead, I repeatedly encountered extraordinary delays, poor access to the physician, and ultimately a complete breakdown in communication around an unresolved extrapelvic cystic lesion. The wait times were not isolated minor delays. On multiple occasions, I waited hours past my scheduled appointment time. On one occasion, the delay became so extreme that I ultimately had to forgo the appointment entirely because the projected total wait would have been upwards of four hours. Patients seeking specialist care should not routinely be expected to surrender half a day simply to find out whether they will actually be seen. The final breakdown concerned an extrapelvic cystic lesion seen on imaging. Dr. Spring-Robinson had offered an interpretation that differed from what other physicians later told me. Because her opinion was different, I specifically wanted to understand why she interpreted the lesion the way she did and what features of the imaging or my clinical history led her to that conclusion. This mattered because I had already paid for appointments in which these issues were discussed, yet I was still left without clarity about her actual position. I did not expect unlimited medical advice through portal messages. I was entirely willing to schedule and pay for another appointment to have this question answered. Instead, my efforts to obtain clarification were characterized as an attempt to get "free help." That accusation was both inaccurate and deeply offensive to me. I was trying to understand a specialist opinion I had already spent substantial time and money obtaining. I then attempted to schedule a telephone or telehealth follow-up specifically so that I could discuss Dr. Spring-Robinson's interpretation of imaging she had already reviewed. I was told that she would not provide a phone appointment with me. I was also told that the PA had been instructed not to provide telehealth with me. So despite being willing to pay for the physician's time, I was effectively left with the proposition that I would need to appear in person simply to ask the doctor to explain why she interpreted an existing imaging finding the way she did. Mind you, I reside over two hours from the practice's offices. It is challenging to obtain quality local care for endometriosis, as there are so few practitioners that are actually trained to conduct proper excision surgeries, and having experienced one botched surgery already and a diagnosis that undermined the seriousness the level of my disease has left me traumatized. At a certain point, access to the physician began to feel less like ordinary medical follow-up and more like trying to obtain an audience with the Pope. Patients should not have to kiss the ring merely to get clarification of a specialist's own medical opinion. I also previously sought clarification of clinical documentation because the notes from one of my appointments did not clearly reflect what I understood Dr. Spring-Robinson to have told me. I was not demanding that anyone rewrite the record to suit me. I wanted an accurate understanding of the physician's own position. By the end of this relationship, I was exhausted rather than supported, still without answers I had paid to obtain, and made to feel that access to the physician herself was some extraordinary privilege rather than an ordinary component of specialist medical care. What makes this especially striking to me now is the practice's connection to EndoEdu and its stated mission of educating and advocating for women with endometriosis. Advocacy is not a slogan, a website, an educational initiative, or a marketing concept. It is how patients are actually treated when they have difficult questions, when something is unclear, and when their case becomes complicated. In my experience, the rhetoric and the reality were worlds apart. Patients with endometriosis (and adenomyosis) already spend years navigating conflicting medical opinions, complicated imaging, surgeries, chronic pain, and enormous amounts of time and money trying to obtain expert care. An organization associated with educating and advocating for these women should understand that better than almost anyone. My experience did not feel like advocacy. It felt like another exhausting system I had to fight merely to get a straight answer. I will be obtaining my care elsewhere. read more

I am sad to have to write this but after months of trying to work with the billing office I have to say, watch out. When this new building was opening I called and confirm that they accepted my insurance and they told me they were in negotiations so we booked months out. When my appointment approached I called and they were finalizing and said it would be done by that date but I pushed it out again just in case. Then they called and said it was done and I was ok to come in. Imagine my surprise to receive a $350 bill! The front office and their billing office blamed each other and even after hours spent in the phone with them and my insurance they were no help. They couldn't seem to keep track of the issue and eventually sent me to collections! read more

Dr. Chandra Spring-Robinson is one of the most incredibly kind, compassionate, and competent surgeons that I have ever met. She is an angel from God who saved my life when I had no idea it needed saving, and for that I will be eternally grateful! Background: Since 2016 I had been seeing OB/GYNs in San Diego across Scripps Health, Sharp Health, as well as private practices trying to understand what could be causing my painful and heavy periods, infertility, worsening menstrual cramps over time, and pelvic pain throughout my cycle. The pain I was experiencing started since my first menstrual cycle at age 12, but I had always been told that the pain was "normal" and part of being a woman. The providers I had seen told me that my pelvic pains were due to ovulation, phantom pains, and expected. The farthest that they looked into my issues was with an ultrasound. From 2016 to 2025, my ultrasounds were getting worse and worse. Initially, it was just a small fibroid or two, but then they began to get more and more complex. There were more fibroids growing, cysts on my ovaries, and cervical polyps. This was all identified as "normal" until I discovered Dr. Spring-Robinson. Diagnosis: At my first pelvic exam, Dr. Spring-Robinson felt the fibroids and also felt that my uterus was not quite moving as it should, to which she requested an ultrasound. During my ultrasound with her technician Shelby, the results found that there were adhesions present throughout, my uterus did not slide or move at all, and that there was a possibility that I had adenomyosis. In the span of 9 years, no other medical team had found (or cared to find) what Dr. Spring-Robinson's team discovered as concerning in a matter of minutes. Once the ultrasound results came back, I was scheduled for an MRI followed by laparoscopic surgery. The MRI results showed that there was tethering of my anterior rectal wall to the posterior uterus, which had never been found before. Surgery: I was incredibly fortunate that a surgery cancellation came through and that Dr. Spring-Robinson's wonderful office staff offered it to me. The surgery ended up being a few weeks before my originally scheduled surgery date, and I am so grateful because my body needed immediate surgical intervention. During my first scheduled laparoscopy, Dr. Spring-Robinson found that I had a frozen pelvis, and that my uterus was adhered into the rectosigmoid colon, which meant that I required a co-surgery with a colorectal surgeon. From being told for years that my menstrual pain was normal, to now being told that I would possibly need to remove a portion of my rectum and colon was something I was not prepared for. In Dr. Spring-Robinson's divine grace and compassion, she coached me, guided me, and advised me that having the surgery with a colorectal surgeon would ultimately save my life. If I chose not to intervene, I could lose all functioning of my rectum in 6 years, which could ultimately be fatal. Within a week, Dr. Chandra Spring-Robinson and Dr. Matthew Shultzel agreed to operate on me given the severity of my condition. With an awe-inspiring dedication to beneficence, they both embarked on a ~7hour surgery to save my life and free me from the Stage IV deep infiltrating endometriosis that was present in 21 places across my abdominal cavity, and entangling my fallopian tubes and ovaries downward towards my rectum. My hope is that any woman who is dismissed by generic OB/GYN providers keeps pushing for answers and doesn't stop until they get an affirmative yes or no regarding whether they have endometriosis or adenomyosis. Dr. Chandra Spring-Robinson is an absolute blessing from God, and thanks to her surgical tenacity, her staff, and Dr. Matthew Schultzel, I have the ability to live a much longer life than expected (not knowing that my life would have been cut short), with the hope of being a mother one day. I cannot express enough gratitude for Dr. Spring-Robinson and her entire medical team. My experience with her care has truly been life-changing. :') After many years of living with chronic pain and searching for answers, Dr. Spring-Robinson was the first doctor who truly listened and properly diagnosed me with Stage III endometriosis. For years I struggled with symptoms like severe pelvic pain, heavy bleeding, and other complications without clear answers. Finally having a doctor who took my symptoms seriously and investigated thoroughly meant more to me than words can express. My case turned out to be extremely complex. The surgery required advanced robotic techniques and extensive surgical expertise. Dr. Spring-Robinson performed a robotic-assisted hysterectomy with removal of my fallopian tubes, excision of deep endometriosis, ureterolysis to free my ureters, removal of adhesions affecting my bowel, and treatment of extensive pelvic fibrosis and endometriosis throughout the pelvis. She also removed a very large fibroid uterus weighing over 1700 grams, which had been causing significant symptoms for years. What impressed me just as much as her surgical expertise was how efficiently and quickly her team worked with my insurance to make sure everything was approved so I could receive the care I needed without unnecessary delays. During such a stressful time, that support meant the world to me. Despite the complexity of the surgery, everything went smoothly with no complications, and I woke up knowing I had been in incredibly skilled hands. Beyond her medical expertise, Dr. Spring-Robinson is an incredibly compassionate physician. She took the time to explain the procedure, answer my questions, and make sure I felt supported throughout the entire process. TRUST ME SHE IS WORTH WAITING FOR!!!! I was hopeful when I was referred. But sadly I am leaving the practice after so many strikes. The office staff is lovely and very helpful and kind. The doctor is ok, but you can't ever get an appointment and when you do be prepared to wait. Like really wait I had a 2:30 appointment and was seen at 6:30. I was on a protocol that worked for me for over 20 years and they ripped me off of it and sent me into an 11 month spiral into abject hell. They kept trying things instead of looking at the fact that I have a long standing hormonal imbalance and the delivery system they kept trying was failing. They destroyed my health. Don't get me started on the PA. She should not have anything to do with women, women's health. I have a well documented medical issue, and I was told by her if I 'can't sort it out I need to be referred to psych' yep, can't make that up. If you challenge her, she will gaslight you and say things that are patently false, and easily provably false, it's pretty astounding. I have absolutely no faith in her abilities, and the doctor may be good, but you will never see her. After yet another horrid battle with the PA, I couldn't take it anymore. She is really awful, not a good person, and truly does not care. After 2 weeks of not sleeping, she turned me into a defensive person, someone I did not recognize and I fully blame her and her staggering incompetence for ruining my health and my well being. She refused to listen, yet kept repeating ad nauseam that she heard me. I had to become my own doctor, my own advocate, and try to solve my own issues. I have found a new doctor who I can actually see. I can't believe I have spent the last 11 months looking for help and becoming absolutely desperate because of what happened. Finally some answers for my daughter who has been suffering for so long. I'll keep this as short as possible. The medical gaslighting from so many doctors was insane. She suffers from major fatigue, IBS, horrific periods, dizziness, the list goes on. Dr Spring-Robinson listened and explained exactly what endometriosis is and what it does do women's bodies. One of the best endometriosis surgeons you can find. Highly recommend getting your endo taken care of by Dr. Spring-Robinson. I always had painful periods and "unexplained fertility". She immediately diagnosed me and excised stage 4 endo. I no longer have any cramps or painful ovulation. She is absolutely incredible and a master at this.
