The bathroom was very small and the toilet sat angled in front of the vanity, so it was a little cramped to try to stand in front of the mirror/sink to get ready (hair, makeup, etc.). I absolutely adored that the room numbers outside the room are vintage post office box doors. The trains blow their whistles a lot at night passing through and this woke us up each night, so keep that in mind if you are a light sleeper. We enjoy trains and liked seeing them (so that is a pro/con, we liked the trains, just not at night when sleeping). We were there for our anniversary and I was pleasantly surprised there was a bottle of champagne on ice in our room upon our arrival with a nice card. So very sweet. I found the bed to be extremely comfy! So much so I meant to see what brand mattress it was but I forgot to look. Darn! The hotel itself is beautiful, I enjoyed walking through when we came and went. It was fun to browse the few shops. Although I was disappointed to not find anything with the St James logo on it, was hoping to buy a souvenir of some sort with the hotel logo (coffee mug or wine glasses?). Maybe I just missed seeing them if they have them? In all we enjoyed our stay and wandering throughout town for a few days.

Lastly, I realize there is nothing that can be done about the "city water" smelling rotten. We had other family staying at a different hotel (for only $20 more) & they had no issue with their water.

For us, life is very busy and hectic and what we get from a weekend at the Pratt Taber is priceless: warm and cozy comfort and relaxation. The hosts Deb and Ron are witty and kind without being overbearing or too chatty. The coffee is wonderfully strong and the food really top notch. The linens and beds go the extra mile to make you comfortable and it's the little extras that make us feel so at home. And the price is reasonable for what you get, costing less than other boutique hotels in the area. Five stars, no hesitation! I hope this gem stays open long enough for us to come back a few more times because it's truly the best weekend we could imagine each time.

At first, I looked at the hotels in the area, but nothing felt right. Then had the idea of staying at a B & B (Bed and Breakfast.) We began our search and when we saw the Pratt Tabor Inn and read the reviews, went over their website, something in both of us felt good, like the Universe compelled us to try this out. It would be my first time and for my gf it had been years since she went to a b&b with her family. When we arrived, we met Ron, and right away our conversation felt lively and warm. He helped get us situated and settled and the rest as they say was history...I'm a strong believer in my later years that the Universe places people, events, and experiences in your life that aligned with how you want to live your life. I wanted this get-away to be about relaxing and sharing our love for each other, ourselves, and others! And it definitely was. Instead of writing an epic story, which I totally could, I'll list off the highlights of our stay. -Incredible atmosphere -Ellie, Buddy, and Max!! -Wonderful hospitality -Lovely time over Wine, Cheese, Conversations -Amazing dinner suggestions in town, including what to order! -Deb and Ron - delightful human beings -We love sitting down with people to share stories. It was a self check in process, which was fine, but there was literally no one there at all. We dropped our bags in the room and then proceeded to check out the house. We sat in the living room for a bit. Still nobody there, except another couple who seemed to be looking around just like us. We returned to our room, and when I sat on the bed I was overcome by a horrendous odor. We peeled the covers back and tried to determine what this could be. It was so bad that we were no longer planning to stay. It was like old, musty and mildewy. Really gross. We gathered our stuff and left; still never seeing anyone who might work there. I called the # and had to leave a message. I sent an email. The reply said they would look into the matter and we should see a refund in a few days. Not only did we not get any type of a refund (not entirely surprising), but I have not been able to reach anyone to discuss the matter despite several attempts via email and telephone. My last message said I understand we likely wouldn't get a full refund but that I wanted to discuss this experience. This happened in May and it's now July. Still no response from the owners/managers. I had a bit of a bad feeling when we pulled up to the house and there was a for sale sign in the yard. It seems like the owner perhaps already kind of checked out. Bad experience, unfortunately.

If I could give a suggestion for improvement it would be this, a private bathroom for handicap patrons. My parents had to leave early due to an issue and a private bathroom with wheelchair accessibility would have been helpful for a caregiver and her spouse. Then they wouldn't have missed their granddaughters first dance. I can only hope I attend another wedding here in the future.

I found the seat with my name next to it, and joined the other guests for a three course breakfast. During our third coarse, we were given a brief history about the house from the inn keeper. Eggs, bacon, sausage, muffins, pancakes, cereal, yogurt. Pretty decent spread. Rooms are quiet--can't really hear other guests, but you can hear the train horn from nearby tracks. No horns after 11, but you can still feel the rumble of the train moving through. Only negatives about the place are the train rumbles and the fact that their "suites" are really just slightly bigger rooms with pull out sofas. Not really a suite if you ask me...

We booked it for a wedding, checked in, got our keys and went directly to the wedding. When we came back (late) there was no one at the front desk to address our concerns. I contacted the motel for a refund (because there is NO way I would lay me head in that filth) and they offered 25% back.... REALLY? Our rooms were $225.00 plus tax (total of 4 people). What a joke! We drove home 45 mins away at midnight. I would have stayed at the Bates Motel before staying here. I was disappointed we rolled our luggage on the carpet. I am SO disappointed in Wyndham, they need to do a better job on what they allow their name to represent, they ought to be ashamed of themselves!
