Location is wonderful for folks visiting Northfield and associated colleges, the neighborhood is quiet. The breakfasts are FABULOUS. Normally, I grab something and dash, but the Inn and the breakfasts served gave me an opportunity to take my time, enjoy the food, and sip coffee before my day began. The sleeping rooms (we stayed in #3, which has a big bay window overlooking the gardens) was comfortable and cozy for two people. The bed and bedding was first rate--we both had restful nights. Because we were escaping a heat wave at home, we spent as much time as we could on the wraparound porch, wishing we had one at home. Andy, our host, was kind enough to serve his very nice breakfasts on the porch. It's clear that a vast amount of thought and care went into every detail, making for a wonderfully pleasant stay. Second, they knock on your door exactly at 11:00 am, check out time. Third, unfriendly staff. If you ask any questions, they act inconvenienced. Fourth, they'll question you if you need more soap. Fifth, they have NO MAID SERVICE. Your room will only be cleaned after checkout. Lastly, they'll close the breakfast area exactly at the time. If you're looking for a place to slightly accommodate your schedule, this is not the place. If you could stay anywhere else, avoid staying here.

A GREAT EXPERIENCE…read more We've now stayed at the AmericInn around 6 times over the past year. The Inn is the all about service and experience. And it starts with the GM Paul. He's the face and the spirit of the place. He gives undivided attention to each person. He's focused on your needs and takes the action to make it work. It's more than just the little things like remembering each person's name. A quick example. We'd stayed there once on a school visit. I called to see if we could have books and things shipped from Amazon to the Inn, so we wouldn't have to carry them on the plane. I remember Paul's response, "I've been here for 13 years, and we've been doing it since it was an option." The rooms are well kept. The beds are firm and clean. Everything is clean and comfortable. My only ding is there is no elevator to the 2nd floor, so make sure to request a first floor if you have limitations. I have to add that we had the suite with the whirlpool last time. Like most hotels I've stayed in, they are actually in a corner of the room. I'll say it was pristine. BTW - Did I mention that Paul is outstanding and is why the AmericInn is rated at the top of TripAdvisor for Northfield. Room Tip: There's no elevator to the 2nd floor, so make sure to inform the hotel if you have any limitations.

Owner put all of the blame on Expedia and offered no apology or explanation as to how it happened or why it took 10 weeks to realize they had oversold their rooms. All the other decent hotels were taken by that time. They also offered no support to find another place.
