First time staying at this hotel. It is a medium-sized facility, conveniently located off the…read morehighway. The layout is pretty typical, with the front desk and a single elevator right there. The lobby is small, but there are some seating areas down the hall by the vending machines. There is a free breakfast with very spacious seating areas that they open for that. The rooms are a decent size with nice, firm beds. The bathroom has a barn door, which helps save space. The light switch for the bathroom is inside next to the sink, and that was a bit confusing. The shower is in a tub, which looked clean but worn and could use an upgrade. They have a good number of USB outlets. There is also a media hub that is intended to allow you to stream video from your phone to the TV. Unfortunately, the one in my room was defective, and the replacement was also not working. Still, there were enough channels available on the TV, though with commercials nearly every five minutes. There was also a laundry room. It had a couple washer/dryer sets. It's not free, but a nice option for doing any needed laundry. Overall, a decent stay and a good value.

I probably saved myself about $100 in booking via this route. Burnsville, itself an upper-middle class 'burb as well as its neighbors (Eagan, Apple Valley, Bloomington) is a great place to stay; south of MPLS by about 20 minutes and almost equidistant to St Paul. It is about 10 mins to Mall of America. Sweet synopsis for those who want the nitty gritty: THE+ -Awesome bed, great linen and bedding -TV can pull out on a tray and comes with a special micro-clean surface for remote (for which I was grateful) -Fridge and microwave included, as is a coffeemaker, but no hairdryer (I brought a compact) - Yay for Bath Body works accoutrements! Loved the two scents, both for face and body. -Shower curtain rod was curved and with new liner so didn't feel grody when lathering up with said items above. -Free paper Q Am, which gets delivered by 0400 -Douwe Egberts coffee in the AM (only thing worth having in their free breakfast, 0630-09) -in-room Cuisinart coffee pods -Convenient multi-side access with card key, for quick in-out of car regardless of where one parks -Walkable to Hooters if that is your persuasion -a 24 hour bodega (the Holiday chain) that is clean and friendly, one block up on the Parkway) CON: -Clientele more on the sketchier side, but certainly not all -Worn, weathered carpeting -No exercise room or swim pool, but set up for laundry room, etc -Thinner walls between rooms (luckily I heard zilch, nada, nothing) -no central H/A, but wall unit (typical noise) And contrary to my fellow Yelper's assessment, I was extremely surprised at the services here, perhaps because my nightly rate was so unbelievable (I'm embarrassed to disclose, but I will say that I never never paid this kind of $ for a suite before). I'll do my best to describe. The check-in lobby actually had taste and style. I was braced for a sub-par motel 8, as I was saving the real splurge for downtown MPLS @ the Doubletree. The foyer was actually pretty, and it bespoke interior designer to me. Or at least some kind of eye with design/color know-how. The lady checking me in was genuine, kind and warm. I really appreciated the welcome and the service as I didn't arrive until close to midnight. The room---she apologized profusely that though I had phoned from my layover airport that I would be a late check-in, the only rooms left in the house were smoking ones. I am a nurse. I frown upon smoke, especially second-hand. Scrambling to think out-of-the-box to accommodate me and finagle something she did, but to no avail. When I got up to the 3F, I smiled. Honestly, outside of seeing many ashtrays provided, I only *very* mildly noticed the difference. Immediatey, I went to the faux-wood blinds (nice touch) and opened wide (woohoo for no lock) and suffered no problem whatsoever. Outside of the carpet (I always wear flipflops in hotels, even if in the Ritz), which was weathered, and the bathroom which was dated, the amenities were more than fine. A faux-leather chair, a round table, king bed with very nice, soft duvet and bedding. There was great placement of lamps and electrical outlets for my needs (reading and charging), and thought that was even thought-out. But back to the root of why hotel rooms exist: the bed. The bed rocked; it seriously rocked the house... i placed my Samsonite on one side of the large king, and slept on the other. It was on it that I watched Hayward of BP get grilled at the hearing on CNN. PS Apple Valley, MN (just next door) just made #20 on America's Best Small Cities of Money magazine!

The room was clean and spacious and I really liked the configuration. The bedroom was separate from the living/kitchen area and bathroom, making for a quiet, private bedroom. The bathroom could use some hooks or bars to hang towels. I had a bit of an issue with shower temp and pressure, but that might not apply to everyone. Housekeeping was friendly and the front desk was nice too, but they seemed a little tired. I would stay here again.

Upon…read morechecking in we took our usual pictures of the previous damage of the room so that we had proof in case they would try to charge us for damage (it has happened in previous stays that we weren't as prepared). I went downstairs to discuss these among others not pictured. Our room was still incomplete from a renovation. Loose and missing trim. TV was completely disconnected, furniture was half assembled. The bathroom had no ventilation, the ceiling inside the shower was cracking off. Although we informed the hotel staff, everyone we spoke to assured us that the renovation was completed and they had no idea why all these things were not completed. I was under the impression I was booking a four star hotel according to Expedia, if this is what a four star is I am disappointed. We decided to drive home instead of booking an additional night.
