We've been to the Pratt Taber several times and it's literally the only B&B we've gone back to more…read morethan once. For us, life is very busy and hectic and what we get from a weekend at the Pratt Taber is priceless: warm and cozy comfort and relaxation. The hosts Deb and Ron are witty and kind without being overbearing or too chatty. The coffee is wonderfully strong and the food really top notch. The linens and beds go the extra mile to make you comfortable and it's the little extras that make us feel so at home. And the price is reasonable for what you get, costing less than other boutique hotels in the area. Five stars, no hesitation! I hope this gem stays open long enough for us to come back a few more times because it's truly the best weekend we could imagine each time.

When I got better, I thought more about what I wanted to do and decided on escaping from the cities even for a day. Eventually, choosing the town of Red Wing. It had been a long time since our last va-ca, and giving ourselves ample opportunity to do so throughout the year is important to us. At first, I looked at the hotels in the area, but nothing felt right. Then had the idea of staying at a B & B (Bed and Breakfast.) We began our search and when we saw the Pratt Tabor Inn and read the reviews, went over their website, something in both of us felt good, like the Universe compelled us to try this out. It would be my first time and for my gf it had been years since she went to a b&b with her family. When we arrived, we met Ron, and right away our conversation felt lively and warm. He helped get us situated and settled and the rest as they say was history...I'm a strong believer in my later years that the Universe places people, events, and experiences in your life that aligned with how you want to live your life. I wanted this get-away to be about relaxing and sharing our love for each other, ourselves, and others! And it definitely was. Instead of writing an epic story, which I totally could, I'll list off the highlights of our stay. -Incredible atmosphere -Ellie, Buddy, and Max!! -Wonderful hospitality -Lovely time over Wine, Cheese, Conversations -Amazing dinner suggestions in town, including what to order! -Deb and Ron - delightful human beings -We love sitting down with people to share stories. I loved that both Ron and Deb created the time and space for us to engage with them, as much as we wanted to. -beautiful rooms -fireplace (not real wood) -Popcorn -relax environment -breakfast, coffee, dessert oh my!! So good. So much care. -Bottle of champagne! And flowers (yes it's extra but so worth it!) -Beds -Autumn room I have too many great things to say about Pratt Tabor Inn, but I think the memory I will take with us this first time here was the love, care, and story. Deb's story is powerful! You can tell the love that radiates this B&B and how that love is transported to all the guests who come through the doors. Thanks Ron and Deb, Ellie, Buddy, and Max. Thank you for being you and wanting to take care of your guests, like family. We can't wait to return to learn more about each other. Big hugs, Pete and Emily

Sometimes I am nervous about a B&B because the furniture may be old and unkept. However the furniture at the Golden Lantern, mostly antique and eclectic, was clean, comfortable and in great condition. The house was quiet and comfortable for a peaceful overnight stay. The breakfast and coffee on the sun porch was delicious and beautifully presented. We highly recommend this B & B to our friends who appreciate classic charm.

But we still enjoyed it. Though I was glad the outdoor dining area was not open yet because it wouldn't have felt as private in our room with that area being part of the view. Please keep in mind that this is a historical hotel so the rooms are odd angles. The bathroom was very small and the toilet sat angled in front of the vanity, so it was a little cramped to try to stand in front of the mirror/sink to get ready (hair, makeup, etc.). I absolutely adored that the room numbers outside the room are vintage post office box doors. The trains blow their whistles a lot at night passing through and this woke us up each night, so keep that in mind if you are a light sleeper. We enjoy trains and liked seeing them (so that is a pro/con, we liked the trains, just not at night when sleeping). We were there for our anniversary and I was pleasantly surprised there was a bottle of champagne on ice in our room upon our arrival with a nice card. So very sweet. I found the bed to be extremely comfy! So much so I meant to see what brand mattress it was but I forgot to look. Darn! The hotel itself is beautiful, I enjoyed walking through when we came and went. It was fun to browse the few shops. Although I was disappointed to not find anything with the St James logo on it, was hoping to buy a souvenir of some sort with the hotel logo (coffee mug or wine glasses?). Maybe I just missed seeing them if they have them? In all we enjoyed our stay and wandering throughout town for a few days.

Moondance follows standards of customer satisfaction more in line with a third-party airline, or perhaps a festering county DMV. When my partner came down with covid, we had to cancel our plans to stay. We made our cancellation with regrettably short notice, and were told that the only means of recouping any of the payment (demanded in full at the time of booking) would be granted as a voucher to a future stay, and only in the condition that the room is booked by another pair of guests for the weekend, but that a $25 cancellation fee would be charged regardless. "Thanks for not getting us sick, give us more money please, we know times are hard." My partner and I called during the days before and shortly after our intended stay to try and work something out, and haven't ever gotten through to someone on the line. We haven't received any responses to our voicemails. I had to check their website for information on whether or not the room was rebooked. The only time we spoke to anyone was when we made our cancellation. Booking a stay and cancelling is more expensive than simply staying. I should have known, and I would have known and read about the policies had I not been such a fool. After all, it is surely more work for the staff, more preparation for the hosts if we don't show up and dine and messy up the place. It's honestly a great business model, and one that I may have invented myself had I come from a family of tapeworms or mosquitoes. It's a pretentious and insulting assumption that, after hearing about this policy, we'd consider a voucher to be worth any more to us than the guarantee of never having to hear about Moondance again.

Breakfast was served at 9:00 AM, and when I arrived, there was only a single plate of food prepared specifically for me. It appeared to have already been made and needed to be reheated. There were no additional options available, such as fruit, muffins, or other choices. I was not informed in advance that 9:00 AM was the only time breakfast would be served or that there would be no alternatives. For the price, this location did not meet expectations. I would not return and would not recommend it to others. You can spend your money elsewhere and have a much better experience.

Lovely! I booked the Dayton Room in the penthouse for the night before my wedding. It was a last…read moreminute purchase and I was very pleased with the results. I didn't want a generic hotel room so the New Victorian Mansion allowed me to have comfort as if I was in my own home. Some of my favorite highlights include: wrap around front porch, view of the Cathedral, large bathroom with a nautical theme, breakfast in the dining room and overall peacefulness and serenity of the space. Upon arrival, there is a free parking lot wrapped around the building and a main entry (you'll ring the doorbell) to get access to your room key pad number and front door code. Depending on what wing and room you stay in, you will travel either inside or out and have the option for both if you stay in the penthouse. The mansion is separated by two sections and anyone staying in the penthouse is on an opposite wing of the building. There is no elevator in the penthouse and it's clearly advertised online so you'll know what to expect in advance without any surprises. The penthouse is technically meant for large group gatherings as there is only shared 1 bathroom. Contrary, I saw others in the penthouse when I was there and we never overlapped on bathroom use. I enjoy the New Victorian because you can customize how you want to stay whether that is luxurious or a more modern dorm style. No matter what you choose, the common shared spaces in each wing are adorable being it's all a mansion. Even the penthouse kitchen was just enough with every accommodation possible: Nespresso machine, coffee cups, wine glasses, blender, fridge, pots, pans, etc. While I only stayed one night and had to depart early, I couldn't fully enjoy the breakfast as I was in rush mode to get married. Contrary, the staff accommodated a slightly early meal for me which was very thoughtful. Rating this a 4 as there is some generic wear and tear, missing paint, carpet stains, and cleaning supplies and cords in the open spaces. With some paint, hiding of tools, carpet stain remover, small porch sweeping with added flowers, this would get a 5 star. My understanding is that there are new owners so perhaps repairs are all in the works after being handed off? Don't be fooled: the place is clean but it looks more dirty due to the slight repairs that need to be done to keep the upscale vibe going.

Chateau Ramy is named after it's sole proprietor Mr. Ramy, and it's kitchen is run by Executive Chef Mr. Brian. It's located within a few minutes of Menomonie's greatest attractions, it's bars and shops downtown. Chateau Ramy has plenty of off-street parking, but if you decide not to drive which is wise if you've been drinking with Menomonie cops sucking so bad, a cab ride to and from downtown bars is a low cost option at around $11-13. Chateau Ramy is small but makes efficient use of its space. When my party checked-in, the host/owner greeted us promptly at the door, although luggage service was not offered, the close parking didn't make it too much of an inconvenience. Once checked in, I was offered a refreshing complimentary alcoholic beverage which I gladly accepted. Once all settled in, Executive Chef Brian brought us out a base meal, which is the meal one eats before they consume copious amounts of alcohol to stave off extreme hangovers. The base meal consisted of fine cheese spreads, exotic crackers and delectable sausages and tomatoes with a little pizza mixed in. While we ate, we were entertained by friendly banter and a good old fashioned drinking game of hockey. After the game, we ventured out downtown and returned to blown-up air mattresses in the living room that were more than sufficient to slumber on. Then in the AM, after handling a brief morning accident, Chef Brian served us breakfast which was the prefect way to wake up to a class 2 hangover. From what I can remember as my body digested the last of the alcohol remaining in my belly from the night before, breakfast was amazing with small potatoes, eggs, and bread with french pressed coffee on the side being served. We departed soon after to watch the Packer game at the Ale House, who's food sucks by the way, but that for a different review. I would highly recommend this hidden gem known as Chateau Ramy and the food mastery of Executive Chef Brian. Their team work to make our stay comfortable and enjoyable was second to none and we plan on coming back many more times in the future. My only complaint whatsoever is that this B&B is not wifi friendly, although Chateau Ramy has wifi, he would not provide his password claiming he didn't know it, but I assume it's the same password he uses for all of his other passwords and doesn't want to give that sensitive information up, also known as a George Costanza move.

When I arrived on Saturday, I was informed that I missed the Welcome Orientation that was scheduled for me on Friday. At this orientation, I missed receiving my welcome packet which included a suggested itinerary and the tour of facilities by Mr. Ramy himself. Although I was disappointed I missed this important information, I did not feel that it decreased the enjoyment of my stay. As others had mentioned in their reviews, the evening cocktail reception with appetizers and the morning breakfast were superb! I felt that the Chateau did not advertise these perks enough, but they were certainly a welcomed surprise! Although there were some issues with my bed, which for some unknown reason had the plug removed during the night, the stay was cozy and relaxed. I appreciated that the Cheateau allowed for a late check-out and that the housekeeping services were efficient and abundant. I completely recommend this Chateau for your overnight stay in Menomonie. Not only are the views breathtaking from the front entrance, but the host(s) are welcoming and accommodating. The dollar value of the stay, cannot be surpassed!
