Golf course is fun, with the capability to be challenging if you want it to be! Plus it's been in the best shape it's ever been!

Located above Red Wing this classic course has the lowlands and highlands which has breathtaking view of the area. We did the Highlands with a group on special at the suggestion of the clubhouse. They said it offered the majority of views and if you've never played there is the one to do. The layout for most holes is spaced out well, the course is literally cut out of the Mississippi River Valley. There are breath taking elevation changes and wide open views of the bluffs that surround Red Wing. The course itself was a little rough, bunkers weren't great, dead bumpy areas on greens and some areas under repair. Even with a couple faults the course is still a great round and makes up for it with a number of unique holes. There are multiple holes with huge distance through the woods between them, it's literally like driving a golf cart through the forest. They don't let you walk the Highlands and for good reason as the elevation changes up to 150 feet or more multiple times. We played in 4 hours so although there is a lot of driving from green to tee box it still plays pretty fast. There are extraordinarily long Par 5's, and amazingly short par 3's. The 637 yard Par 5 stands out as the longest hole I've ever played and the 84 yard par 3 is probably the shortest. The 149 yard par 3 on hole 16 is basically straight down like 125 feet and is their marquis hole, it's a strange feeling at first but a really fun golf shot. Get out here and drive a golf cart around the woods, enjoy the scenery and play a little golf.

The greens rolled true. There is definitely water and sand challenges beyond the length. I never found myself in the sand but did find the water on the long par 3s where you had to fly the water to reach the green. Carts had GPS. There were also beverage carts along the course. They have a really nice turn to get food and beverages if you choose. Your green fee includes a small range ball basket. They also have chipping and putting greens for practice. Someone greeted us at the bag drop and loaded up a cart for us. Very nice staff and loved the course.

Their special of the night was the Lemon Garlic chicken Penne, packed with great ingredients just not hot. $23.00 huge bowl could have fed 2. Daughter ordered the Butternut squash ravioli and loved it, awesome Maple cream sauce. Since neither of our meals came with garlic bread or anything we shared the Sliced Italian bread from appetizer menu and it filled the void for $6.00. My daughter had a super nummy cheeseburger with battered french fries. My son had the salmon with cheesy augratins and he said it was tasty. We finished with the gluten free chocolate cake that was delicious and moist. Would have given them another star had our food been served hot, we did not complain but wished I had, atmosphere and service was great, my granddaughter loved playing a few of the free arcade games off the entry. Will definitely be back.

I like be that I can get on early walk the course and not feel pressured to speed up so as not to slow down others. This is a great course for the casual as well as the new golfer. Can play whole course with irons but two holes could use a driver. I like that if I shank a ball I can try again it has helped me be more comfy with the game. The I do score my actual game but nice to hit another just to correct the oops. Owners are super helpful it's very relaxed. Others on the course are courteous and friendly. You could take your kids here and folks would just be happy you are spending time with them. Fish fry on Friday was really good and well you just feel at home here. So come relax good up try again and enjoy the game. Awesome course to perfect your short game. Well spend a lot of time here just for the reason of no rush no worries
