Beautiful condos, great staff, good price. I have been staying here for 8 years. The rooms are beautiful and overlook the river. Always very clean and lots of space. We get a double level condo with granit counters, fireplace and big tv's. Always a great place for a team party after a long day of riding. I can only say great things about them! read more

The best part about the Willows is the view- each room overlooks Lake Pepin, and it almost feels like you're standing over the lake from the windows. Otherwise, I really enjoyed my stay- the 2 bedroom condo can totally sleep 8 comfortably. The place was clean and had nice amenities (full kitchen, huge closets). The reason I give the Willows only 3 stars is that the condo I stayed in felt like a condo and not a hotel. It lacks a certain something that makes you feel like you're on vacation. That may be a benefit for some who want to feel 'at home.' But I'd rather feel like I'm being treated on vacation. read more

This is a rental condo. There was a letter on the kitchen counter stating that guests have to gather up the trash and wash the dishes, and other things. There was no housekeeping service but I think you can ask them to come up to make the bed and clean the room; the staff told me that they don't want to just come in without our permission. I was on the second floor with a majestic, serene view of Lake Pepin/the Mississippi River. This location at the end of town on a peninsula provides for the long, picturesque waterfront sightline toward the eastern end of the lake. My suite had one bedroom, a living room with a gas fireplace and a little balcony where I read my book during daylight. The views out the windows of the living room and bedroom were very soothing. There was a full kitchen where you can cook meals, and a bathroom with a big bathtub. The restaurant is closed. The pool area downstairs has a musty smell. The deck downstairs has tables and BBQ. The Pearl of the Lake docks there. You can walk to the marina on the other side of town in about 20 minutes. I hear that the lake freezes in winter and you can walk out onto it. But I think that July is the finest time of year to come here to get away from the heat, breathe the fresh air, watch the bald eagles and many other species of birds, and just relax. read more

Beautiful view of Lake Pepin, lots of room in 2 br condo. Cooked a chicken dinner in kitchen with no problem. When missing an ingredient, was even able to walk downstairs to restaurant and gather what I was missing. Very comfy beds, so didn't get my "hotel-toss-and-turn" problem. Flat screen tv in each bedroom as well as living room. Dimmer switches on all the lights (even bathrooms). All-around clean, homey, and luxury. read more

The worst customer service ever! Incredible rude staff, the place wasn't that clean, cheap plastic patio furniture, a hole in the love seat, the "beach" is nasty and good luck not hurting yourself walking down to it. Wow what a waste of a vacation! read more

We have stayed at 'The Willows' three times in the past year. The location is great, and the facilities are pretty nice. HOWEVER, I am upset that they don't recycle, hence the low service rating! For some people this may not be a big deal, but to me it is. I'm guessing there are other like-minded people that may be interested in knowing this BEFORE they book their next stay. The Willows is trying to give guests the perception that they're environmentally responsible, and that they care about their community, environment, etc. Their room keys have a nice little 'Go Green' spiel about reusing keys, and they have recycling bins in the room. But it's all just a warm and fuzzy show. They don't recycle and they don't care. I've asked various Front Desk employees why they don't recycle. I've been told that they only recycle aluminum cans and "that's just the way it is." One employee told me it's because there isn't a company that fits their needs. Another employee told me it's because there isn't enough space. As far as only aluminum - it's better than nothing, I guess. But, it's not enough. As far as an available company to collect - Americinn, right across the street, has recycling. The marinas have recycling. Small, rural communities out in the middle of nowhere have recycling. Oh yeah, I called Hagedorn Enterprises who currently collects their garbage, and they offer recycling. Hagedorn said it's a customer preference, and that The Willows have decided not to recycle. As far as their concern about space for containers - The output that the facility is generating will be the same. Over time they may be able to get rid a dumpster, or reduce the number of times it is collected. This may save them money over the long run? As far as "that's just the way it is" - that's not a good enough reason. That's not the way it has to be. They're either being incredibly cheap, because they MIGHT have to pay a couple extra dollars a month to recycle. Or, they don't care. If they don't care, I guess that's their choice, but they shouldn't try to pretend like they do. What does Skyline, the attached restaurant, do with all their waste? Don't they recycle all the wine and beer bottles, and all the packaging/containers from the kitchen? It just doesn't make any sense to me. If we stay there again, I guess we'll have to bring my own trash bag to take recyclable items home. read more

First of all, when I made reservations I went off of what you see on their website. They show a picture of a building right on the water but shoved us into an apartment blocks down from where this place was at. Huge disappointment. What we ended up staying in was an apartment and lacked that 'vacation' feeling as one other reviewer mentioned. We only had a view of the lake while on the deck which didn't have a grill either. There is nothing 'villa' about this, it's just a glorified apartment in an apartment building which consisted mostly of retirees. Bedding was beyond horrible, pillows flat, cheap bedding and blankets, old and small TV's with remotes that don't work. Be careful when making reservations here because what you think you are paying for may not be what you are going to get at all. Although there were nice people in the building, past that I have nothing to say. I have stayed in much more impressive condos in Duluth on the water and had that vacation feeling for way less money. Restaurant is closed for business in the main building so you loose that as an option too. Lack of parking too, lots seem way to small if you pull in their with a vehicle and boat good luck! Signs everywhere stating no smoking within a hundred feet of the building, since when did they also own the streets and highway running by this apartment building?? So you can't use your deck for cooking on a grill or having a cigar with your wine/beer in the evenings, you can't get down to the water, you can't watch TV, no computer or Wi-Fi, you can't park your vehicle and boat, no fine dining near by. To many rules and to many things lacking, really just ruined our vacation. Actually I was going to give the place 2 stars, I think I will take one away for not being forthcoming during the reservation process. They should have told us this was an apartment complex and not on the water and limited use of our decks. Although the place is clean- I will give them that. Whoever takes care of the place does a great job! That said, this place is for someone looking for a place to live, not a vacation!!!! read more

Lovely place, one of the cleanest places we have ever stayed. The staff was warm and friendly. The condo was well appointed with a full size kitchen so we saved on food.I cant wait to return. There is also a paddleboat docked at the resort a must do it you are staying in the area. read more

All I have to say is WOW. I have stayed at the Willows a few times and have had a good experience. My recent visit was bad, bad, bad . Checked into my room and it was dirty, none of the dust boards had bee clean the air vents were black with dust, stains on the carpet actually it was black close to the wall, the toilet bowl was dirty, candy wrappers behind the night stand and then I pulled back the sheets and found spots. I went to the front desk and asked to be switched to another room, she advised me they were full. I then asked if everyone was checked in and she said no, so I told her to move me into another room and they can have my dirty room. As I was gathering my items to move into another room the owner came in and was looking around and was saying how unacceptable the cleaning crew did on cleaning and in the same breath said he had a new crew, Well Mr. Owner that dirt did not acquire over night. So after being moved to another room, I walked in and was overwhelmed with the smell of stale smoke( This is suppose to be a non smoking facility ) and when I entered the bathroom, once again dirty toilet bowl and you could see urine spots in front of the stool. That was the final straw . Went back down stairs and told the lady at the front desk I was checking out and if she wanted to come to my room and take a look at the reason why she is more then welcome to. She gave me a refund and then asked me where I was going. Across the street to the American Inn. Clean rooms, Clean Pool, Clean bathrooms and a complimentary breakfast . Oh and for about 100.00 less a night. Thats another thing, 280.00 for one night? I can stay at the St.Regis in Washington DC with a government rate for 10.00 less. no wonder people in Lake City cringe when they find out you booked at the Willows. read more
