We love this hotel, and the hospitality of the bar is really outstanding. The two bartenders, Arlette and Breeanna were so accommodating. We arrived late and they were closing down. We asked if we could get one drink to bring up to our room. They were so kind and accommodating, ran and got the key to allow us to get a glass of wine to go upstairs. Such great hospitality after a long day of traveling. We are so grateful! Excellent service always, especially at the bar here. read more

If I had paid $125 for this room, I maybe would add back a star. But for $300, this hotel just isn't up to par. Pros: Fantastic location - a few minute walk to the adorable downtown stretch. Good breakfast. Cons: This hotel has clearly been updated but not maintained well. The ceiling in the lobby bathroom is leaking and has a bucket catching the water. There is peeling wallpaper, cobwebs in the corner of the room, and a dingy shower tray. There was a large spot on the carpet of our room that was wet and got my suitcase and socks soaking wet. The nice patio overlooking the river closes at 10pm. Also, not to be "that person," but we are Marriott Gold Elite, and typically there is mention of that during check in, a note about the free upgraded WiFi, etc. Not only was there none of that when I checked in, I was initially told at 1:30 that it would be "1-2 hours until your room is ready" because they were busy. When I mentioned that this would be past the check in time and that we had a wedding to get to, I was told I was free to get changed in the lobby bathroom. read more

This is the nicest place is Northfield. The rooms are large, quiet, and comfortable. There is below ground parking and we always found a space. Our EV was grateful for the connection. The breakfast buffet is one of the best complimentary buffets I've encountered. One point off for raising room rates during Carleton events. The room couldn't keep a consistent temperature - it was either hot or cold. No, we weren't adjusting the temp. We had it at 70, but the room was definitely having hot flashes. The shower didn't drain well, so it was more like a shower/bath. It took about an hour for the water to drain. We stayed there because my friend had blocked rooms to celebrate her 25th anniversary. However, the hotel didn't tell us that the restaurant would be closed when these were booked earlier this year. The restaurant that we found had great food and service. I would go back to Northfield again for a day trip, but wouldn't stay at this Marriott again. read more

It's brand spanking new Close to all of the action Borderline five star Decided to go to Northfield for the night on a whim. Booked it direct through the Marriott website for a hundred and pocket change. I'll probably use some credit card miles for a fifty dollar statement credit so basically fifty bucks for the night for me. Didn't realize this when I booked it, but it is the newest hotel in Northfield. Has all of the amenities that I look for. Fridge, microwave, large flat screen TV, complimentary breakfast and heated underground parking. I also didn't realize this when I booked it, but it is directly across the street from Tanzenwald Brewing. Score! Very short walk to the main drag of Northfield and Imminent Brewing. It is not the Waldorf Astoria by any means, but I would gladly stay here again if I ever decide to spend another night in Northfield. Have to imagine it is your best bet in this podunk town. read more

It's pretty new and it has river right behind the property. very cool feature; seats outside to enjoy the sound of the river. friendly and helpful staff out. breakfast is fresh and organized. Price is reasonable, it has under ground parking, onsite restaurant, some grab and go quick food and drinks. Highly recommended if you are in the area. Near by has McDonald, Taco bell, and Caribou coffee. read more

Brand new hotel, the best one in town by far! Goodbye "Best Value Inn and Suites!" So long "AmericInn!" This is the new hot spot to stay in Northfield! During the 6-month long positively BITTER cold winter in MN, I stayed here in the middle of January. I knew it was something special when I found out my key card also gives me access to a 52-spot heated parking lot under the building. Oh my god yay! (There are 80 rooms and 52 spots, but that's a pretty darn close ratio, all things considered) I stayed for two nights while my home was being seen to by exterminators, so I'm a local. That might skew my opinions a bit since I wasn't wow'd by anything that was near or around the hotel itself-- just the hotel. The room was phenomenal. Excellent heating, microwave, giant flat screen, a breath-taking bathroom with an EPIC glass-door shower. (Guys, this shower is MORE than big enough to fool around in. Bring the Missus, pronto!!!) I took like six boiling hot showers while I was there, just to experience the luxury time and again. The entire hotel is brand new, and man does it show! Everything was spotless, accounted for, and functional. The view of the river was... well... frozen solid, but it was like -15*F out there so there's no accounting for it. I'm sure it's lovely in spring, haha! The only curious thing about the room is that none of the trash cans had bags in them. What if I throw away something gooey like gum or Taco Bell leftovers? It's gonna suck for the cleaning people after I'm gone. Seems like a strange oversight, as they even had the fore-thought to have recyclable and non-recyclable trash cans. Very strange. The only chink in this hotel's perfect shining armor, the ONLY ONE, is the breakfast. It's terrible. Their sausages are so dry they may as well be drink coasters. They clearly use powdered eggs to make their omlets and scrambled eggs because my goodness how much drier could it get without falling apart? I tried to get a little milk carton and have some cereal, and I pulled EIGHT OF THEM out of the little glass-front fridge before I found one that wasn't expired a few days ago. So the complementary breakfast was a complete bomb. Someone in the kitchen has completely dropped the ball. I got a handfull of strawberries and went out for breakfast instead, both days I was there. When McDonald's value menu is pumping out better sausages than you, something is seriously wrong. I got to enjoy the hotel's convenience store, which is full of snacks and coffee and drinks. There's also an impressive gym. I didn't go into it, as it was very busy the whole time I was there but it looked awesome. All in all, breakfast aside, I had a perfect experience here and I could not ask for more in a hotel experience. I know all the hotels in town fill up for Jesse James Day, homecoming, Parent's Week for the colleges, and a small couple of other events. Drop "Best Value Inn and Suites", don't bother with "AmericInn", THIS is where you want to stay. THIS is the lap of luxury in Northfield! read more
