When we got a collections letter, we called and they said don't worry about it and that they would send it to the Navy. We continued to get the bills until the second collections letter arrived and we just paid it to be done with it. This has been going on for over 6 months. For those who aren't familiar with military medical, they refer you out to civilian practices when they don't have capacity to get you in. All required medical care is covered by the military for Active Duty personnel. Since my husband was retiring, that's what the Navy did. It was a requirement for his discharge from Active Duty and in no way his responsibility to pay. It's really frustrating that this small business could not get their communication figured out, and now we have to try and get reimbursed $1,000 from the military.

Wait, what? I had a deep pocket at the gum of the tooth, my tooth was strong, not broken and not loose. They made me believe this was my only option and proceeded to explain that an implant would be the way to go since a bridge wouldn't work due to the root issue. The implant procedure would be 8-9 months and I would have a flipper during that time. It was going to cost me $9k for one tooth!!! Can you imagine the anxiety and stress this caused? I decided to get a second opinion. I researched best periodontist in San Diego and after his thorough examination and panoramic X-rays he was shocked and dumbfounded as to why Santee Smiles periodontist wanted to pull the tooth, he saw no bone loss or root issue. All I needed was a minor gum surgery called Guided Tissue Regeneration that costs $1500 (claim to insurance) and get this, once he was done with the procedure he confirmed no bone loss or root issue!!! Be very careful to believe their treatment plan and get a second opinion. I am changing dentists, don't even want my teeth cleaned here, it always costs me something extra... just a money grab.

My Amazon wish list items would have to wait, and next week I would return to take care of the damage. The good - I got everything done in one day because a patient cancelled. The bad- They had to double numb my mouth. I couldn't tell if I was drooling or just imaging it. The ugly- If you have insurance, all the procedures are going to be expensive. I would prepare yourself, and if you have to finance it, look at the finance charges, and pick the 3 month if possible. In the end, the staff was great, the work was thorough, and my teeth are probably happier than I am. Sure, I left with half my face numb and my bank account needing a root canal of its own, but that's more a reality of dentistry than a reflection on the office. If you need dental work done and can handle a little sticker shock, these folks will take good care of you.

Second, if you have insurance do not go here, they are going to charge you just like you were cash pay, you won't save anything.
