I have been a patient for 16 years only needed cleanings (Bree is superior) but age caught up and, in this year, I needed two root canals and an implant. Truly all this was painless, really, he did all this work, and I did not suffer at all. This business is run with precision. I never have to wait; I have been accommodated with emergencies. There is a reason Dr. Maude gets the perfect score on Yelp. Having been through several dentists in the San Diego area after I moved here 5 years ago, I finally had the luck of finding Dr. Maude. He takes great care of his patients and he does not push services that are not needed. Almost all of the other dentists told me that I needed "deep cleaning" before they would even do anything else. This didn't happen at Dr. Maude's. Despite the gum recession, he believes that my gum (and teeth) are perfectly healthy and regular cleaning would do the job just fine. The rest of the staff reflects his philosophy of delivering quality care to his patients. Dental visits have now become a fun twice-a-year routine where I feel like I go to see friends (trust me, they remember you and your stories). Dr. Maude is easily the best Dentist I have experienced. He has identified and filled quite a few cavities I've acquired over the years (as have a couple other highly reviewed dentists prior to my switching over to him.) I would easily rate him higher than the other dentists I've experienced. He is quick, efficient, and has a very fine attention to detail when remolding/filling teeth. Okay, the selfish side of me wants to keep this place to my small cirlcle, but if ever a place deserved an excellent review this is it. Now, I am one of those that never really understood people who had a doctor or dentist that they had to go to and would even be willing to pay out of network to stay with...I always thought it was silly to pay more. But now I understand. Dr. Mauad's office is one of those places. Everyone I have referred and who has visited Dr. Mauad, has ended up switching their whole family over to his office. The Doctor and his staff are extremely friendly (not fake or in that creepy overly happy friendly, they must be trying to hide the fact they have a dungeon at their house type friendly). It is more of that Leave It to Beaver/small town type vibe. Okay, for the cynical lot of us who did not grow up in a small town, that can still feel creepy but not to worry. It is just they'll remember your birthday, if you just got married, had a child or whatever event you may initiated in discussion in a previous visit. Should come in handy when the anniversary rolls around! (No they don't talk to you about these things when your mouth is full of x-ray tabs or flouride) They also handled all the insurance research and paperwork, I have never had to do a thing which is a nice change of pace. Are you one for whom trips to the dentist illicit thoughts of scenes such as in Marathon Man? "Is it safe?...." Yes. All the work that I, or my friends or family, have had done there has been excellent and painfree. If you get there early you can pop in the massage chair if it is unoccupied to help ease your tension. After your appointment, you will get a carry home case with toothpaste, toothbrush, floss and other goodies. THE.BEST. !!!!!!! It takes a really great dentist to inspire confidence in their skills, judgment, and integrity in their business practices all at the same time but Dr. Maude has. Not once since I started being seen by him last summer have I ever thought about going to another dentist or missing an appointment. Full disclosure here: I have had a deathly ill fear and avoidance of dentist since I was a child which has resulted in a lot of expensive and embarrassing problems for me. Not a lot of folks enjoy going to the dentist, I absolutely hated it. Turns out, I just had some pretty bad dentists in my adult life. Not kidding--every visit to Dr. Maude's office has been pleasant, especially those involving the drill. I believe this is because I had experienced such pain and problematic work in the hands of others, I am astonished every time I leave, having felt nothing more than the tiny prick of a pin. And if being supremely gifted at his craft wasn't enough, he's funny, and not just "dentist funny", actually funny! And all of the staff I have interacted are fantastic, too, always smiling, friendly, helpful. I used to pick a dentist for convenience' sake, whoever was closest to the office at the time. I can't believe how nice a dentist visit can actually be. I've been going to the same dentist since I was 5, and then he retired several years ago and Dr. Maude took over the business. I was apprehensive about the change in ownership, but it turned out to be a great move!! Dr. Maude is just fantastic. It wasn't until recently that I had to have actual dental work done (before it was only teeth cleanings up to this point), and Dr Maude assured me that the process was going to be smooth, effortless, and virtually pain free. He was great in that he explained the entire process as we went through it and he even stopped to make sure I didn't have any questions. Couldn't ask for a more caring dentist. Not to mention that the rest of the staff is absolutely incredible too! They all treat me like family and they're always keeping up on my life; it's nice to have that type of professional and friendly customer service from a dentist's office. Dr. Maude is the absolute best dentist I've ever had. My 12-year molars grew in decalcified as a child. I've been having crowns put on and replaced for nearly 40 years. Novocaine doesn't numb me. He was the first dentist ever to be able to numb me on the first try. He is willing to wait for the long time needed for me to get numb. He is very careful and patient, stopping often to make sure I'm not feeling any pain. He is a strong supporter of the community as well. Not just a great dentist, but a great person! read more

I had my first root canal last week and was SO nervous, anxious, all of the above. Dr. Maude was so kind and reassuring. He talked me through the entire procedure so I knew what was coming and could prepare for it. I felt nothing and was amazed at how quickly it was all over. The staff is super sweet also and helpful. My husband was supposed to meet me at an appointment to watch our baby but was running late. The receptionist was so great and watched my son for me in his carseat until my husband arrived. I may be a dentist connoisseur, if that's a thing. This may get long but I promise it's worth the read. TLDR; -REALLY FREAKING NICE -VERY CHEAP/AFFORDABLE -GENTLE -IN METLIFE NETWORK -GENUINE -DOESN'T LET YOU DROWN IN SALIVA I went to the office on Carmel Mtn Rd. I've had braces for the last year & a half (in which I was also pregnant), needless to say my gum sensitivity was at maximum pain capacity. He was so kind and gentle, my gums didn't bleed. Even when he scraped off the excess glue that my orthodontist left on my teeth from my braces. AND most importantly he was frequent with the suction-- as were his assistants. Which I was really thankful for because most places will let you nearly drown in your own saliva. You know how most dentist offices ask you a ton of questions about your personal life then make it obvious they don't care? Dr. Maude is such a genuine person that our conversation was comfortable and friendly. He definitely leaves a lasting impression. I've tried almost every dentist in Mira Mesa and on Miramar rd. Not only do most of them tell you they accept your insurance, but they neglect to say that they aren't in network. (Which ultimately means you have to pay more out of pocket.) Dr. Maude is in Metlife network (Listen up military folks) and the only thing you have to pay is your co-pay. He's very affordable and not overpriced. Over a year ago I got whitening trays at my former dentist for over $300 and right now he has a special going on for $99. Regularly over $100something--which is still cheaper than most places for the same whitening brands. read more

Dr. Maude is the most kind and compassionate Dentist that I have ever met. I took my 7 year old daughter to him to treat a blemish on her front permanent tooth that she was very self conscious about. Dr. Maude greeted us in the waiting area and chatted with her and made her feel so comfortable and eased her anxiety. His clinical and administrative staff are very welcoming and efficient. My insurance and quote of payment owed was done in just moments after my arrival. Dr. Maude gently removed the blemish from her tooth and you would not have even know that it was ever there. I've had bad experiences with dentists for most of my adult life, enough that I immediately go into a panic attack and suffer from extreme anxiety. In May after another traumatic experience I was given Dr. Maude's address and phone number. His office personnel is wonderful, their demeanor when you walk through the door is very soothing and needless to say that in 4 months I've been to see him 4 times and I'm no longer paranoid of dentists. Unfortunately the poor experience I had there was with the admin. Everyone was very nice and Dr. Maude was also professional. The dental hygienist was great. The issue that I had there is with their verification of insurance process. I asked about coverage prior to receiving treatment (we don't want a big bill after the fact) and the woman stated that they did take my insurance, however she failed to mention that Dr. Maude was considered an out of network Dr. for my insurance. Needless to say I found out afterwards when I received a notice from my insurance company of services covered/ not covered and called my insurance carrier. UPDATE: Dr. Maude stated I had a small cavity that needed a filling. The quote was almost double than my previous dentist so on 2/19/16 I went to my previous dentist to have it filled. I sent my X-rays from Dr. Maude's office prior and my dentist said he didn't see a cavity, but would take another X-ray at no charge and take a look at the tooth. To my surprise my dentist stated that Dr. Maude was in fact incorrect I do not need a filling and that I DO NOT have ANY cavities. No I was not charged the additional amount the insurance company stated was not paid for. However, it maybe they just bill to the maximum. UPDATE: 11/9/18 I have been to my regular dentist now for 2+ years now and still no cavities and definitely no cavity in the tooth that Dr. Maude stated needed a filling. read more

I hate, I hate, I hate going to the dentist. At least until I met Dr. Maude. I was recommended to him and now I will not go anywhere else. I think I have a sensitive mouth/teeth and past dentists have been less than gentle which led to me not going for longer than I should have. He did a root canal and fixed a few cavities (too much soda as a kid) and he and his staff always watch over you asking if you are okay, making sure it doesn't hurt or cause discomfort, and before you know it, you are done. I felt very comfortable coming to Michael Maude for my dental work done. On a holiday they were open to take me in for tooth pain emergency(which was the only place open!) He's very up to date on his dental practices and would recommend to anyone! I had a tooth pulled and it was super fast and painless until the serve pain kicked in after the anesthesia wore off I had to call them back to get pain medication. read more
