I FOUND NEW MY DENTIST!! Dr. Fung is terrific, and it was very much a "collaborative" experience. My crowns on 18 and 19 (lower left molars) were quite old, put in at different times. They were wearing down and I always had trouble flossing around/between them. Gums around them were not happy when I flossed. I met w Dr. Fung and told him I wanted two things in replacing these: 1) anatomical crowns that weren't just flat but more chiseled and were good chewers; 2) Good spacing between them and in front/behind so I could finally floss around them w/o shredding the floss. Well he delivered on both goals!! They are chiseled and chew great. Gums are happy and I can easily floss between/around the new crowns. Very pleased-- highly recommend. I came in after trying a couple other East County dentists over the last 10-15 years with less than stellar results on crown work. (Multiple returns for crown fitting, temporaries cracking over and over, and so on.) I had none of those issues w Dr. Fung. read more

Another amazing appointment! I am blessed to have found such an amazing dentist. I had a new hygienist today and she was wonderful. Informative and caring and not judgmental which I think is the main reason I come to see Dr. Jon. I know that I don't floss as much as I should and they are really encouraging on best practices to floss more and maintain dental health. Anita at the front desk is so welcoming and it just starts off the visit just right. I have a lot of anxiety at the dentist and the office is so calming and everyone is so friendly. Dr. Fung and his team are amazing! I first went to see Dr. Fung for an ongoing issue I had with an inlay and he solved my issue to perfection! Then my wife and I schedule our full exam and cleaning! I want to make this clear, this review is not for Dr Fung himself but his office staff. I wish I could be giving this office a 5 star review but unfortunately I'm not. My family and I have been patients of Dr Fung for over 5 years. He has been amazing but ever since they got new office staff they have been unprofessional. MAKE SURE TO CHECK YOUR BENEFITS EVEN IF YOU HAVE BEEN LONG TERM CLIENTS. I cannot say it enough they will not check benefits for you and ALL OF THE SUDDEN go out of network with your insurance without telling you ahead of time and then hit you with a 500+ balance. That's exactly what happened to me and it's extremely poor practice if you ask me. Shame on me for trusting and not checkig my benefits ahead of time. I will definitely be doing so in the future. They went out of contract with my insurance in May 2025 and still allowed myself and my two children to be seen in November without letting me know resulting in a $500 balance. Shame. read more

I had a temporary crown on one of my teeth. Unfortunately, my temporary crown fell off and I called my dentist and couldn't get hold of them and have no idea what to do. Fortunately for me, my friend recommended Collaborative Dental. I called the office and they were able to put my temporary crown back on so I wouldn't have to go a week and a half until my permanent crown came in. They got me in the next morning at 8:30. Dr. Fung is awesome! I went once for x-rays, exam, and a cleaning, and again to get two old fillings redone. Dr. Fung really takes the time to explain things and is extremely thorough in his work. Sam, the dental tech, is very detailed in her work as well. X-rays were very comfortable and she is the only person who has been able to floss around my bonded retainers with ease! Summer, the office manager, handled my insurance and appointment scheduling. She made it easy for me to get in as a new client and gave me a quote on the percent cost that my insurance wouldn't cover for my fillings before my appointment. I usually (REALLY) hate going to the dentist, but I really liked Dr. Petrie... it was a way different experience than my old dentist, who had a big office with many dentists and hygenists, and many patients going in an out... Dr. Petrie's office is very small, which makes it feel more comfortable, and allows for more personal care, and the hygenist and Dr. Petrie were both very good, gentle, and sensitive to the patient's needs. I definitely trust Dr. Petrie to do great work (I have to get some fillings), and I felt like he really cared about me and wanted to figure out the best thing for me. Best dentist I have ever had! He and his staff are very caring and you can tell he actually cares about his patients. But most importantly he never tried to convince me I needed a procedure I didn't. Normally I find dentists are like used car salesmen, but not Dr Petrie. When I asked him about teeth whitening he explained what would happen any risks and cost and then let me make the decision without further pressure.
