Malones Automotive - Sparkle and I

Malones Automotive

Just bought our second car from Malones, and just like with our first purchase, the experience was…read moreexcellent. Jim Stevens was terrific throughout our multiple visits--polite, professional, and never pushy. He was always accommodating with our requests and incredibly helpful. There was also a minor existing issue with the car, which Brian and the service department resolved promptly as soon as we brought it to their attention. Malones truly has a great team, and the entire environment is low‑pressure and stress‑free. We'll definitely return when we're in the market for another car. Thank you!

I am about to share all the details of my experience with Malones Automotive, which I strongly…read moreadvise against due to the unnecessary hardship I endured. My primary concern was purchasing a vehicle outside of a Mercedes dealership, as I have always been cautious about buying non-CPO vehicles from dealerships that do not stand behind their products. On June 6, 2024, while serving as a Family Nurse Practitioner, I was involved in a severe accident caused by a seizure I had while driving. I lost control of my Mercedes C300, hitting a tree and two other vehicles. Because I was at fault, I cannot seek compensation for my medical bills or injuries, although my insurance covered the damages to others. I was surprised to learn that someone at Malones, who saw me in my wheelchair before I paid cash for my vehicle, was aware of my situation. As a dedicated professional, I work hard to provide for myself, and someone else paid for that car. The accident, which was my fault, turned into a life-threatening crisis. I was found unconscious in my vehicle with critical injuries. Mercedes responded immediately, calling 911 and locating me via Mercedes Me, which detected deployed airbags. I suffered a left Tension Pneumothorax, requiring emergency chest tube placement, along with fractured vertebrae (T7-T10) causing paralysis from the waist down, a traumatic brain injury, spleen rupture requiring transfusions, a lacerated kidney, abdominal hematoma, and multiple broken ribs. After four months in the hospital, I was discharged to begin a long recovery, focused on regaining independence as a disabled person. Having dedicated nearly a decade to my nursing career--earning my RN and then becoming a Family Nurse Practitioner--I am determined to walk, drive, and return to my profession. Transitioning from a compassionate healthcare provider to a spinal cord injury patient has been challenging, but I refuse to give up. Despite having a seizure-inducing medical condition, I remained resilient and was confident in my ability to drive again, choosing a used car from Malones that could accommodate a hand device. This was the sole reason I selected Malones, but it turned out to be one of the worst financial decisions I've ever made. Tangie Wells MSN, APRN, FNP-C

I would strongly recommend steering clear of this dealership. They tack on an excessive amount of…read moremark-up and try to squeeze as much money as possible out of you right from the start. One of the biggest issues is that they force you to pay for "Grand Care," which costs $3,262.41. The problem is you don't really know what that even includes -- they can describe it however they want, and you're basically expected to accept it without any clear breakdown. On top of that, their documentation fee is $999, which is extremely unreasonable. The average doc fee in Georgia normally ranges from about $599 to $699, so they're charging well above what's typical. Then when it comes to your trade-in, they go out of their way to undervalue your vehicle. They even use the excuse, "Well, since we're not a major dealership, we have to recoup somehow," as if that justifies shortchanging you. The warning signs were there from the start. When I walked in, I saw a woman who was visibly upset saying, "You all like to play mind games," before she declined to buy a car. I honestly should have taken that as a sign and left right then. The entire experience felt unprofessional, almost like doing business behind a fast-food restaurant instead of an actual dealership. Every time I said something, the salesman would disappear into the back, return with paperwork, and the information would be completely wrong. Once we finally agreed on a number, I thought the deal was set -- but even then, the actual numbers were off by a huge amount. To be fair, the salesman wasn't rude, but that still doesn't make up for how they operate. If you decide to go there, just know that even if you negotiate what seems like a decent deal, they will find a way to justify why you won't actually get the best price. By the time they add all their fees and mark-ups, you're already $4,000 to $6,000 in the hole before they even start processing the paperwork.

Well the process was very long and exhausting. I was glad it was over. I was pleased with the car…read morebut the one thing I didn't like was they didn't fill the gas tank it's kind of weird to buy a new car and then have to go to the gas station and car wash right after. they didn't even detail the car. It's like they rinse the car off .I was there for 3 1/2 hours and I feel like if you're gonna sell a car or trying to sell a car you will present the product the best way you can to make the person feel good about a large purchase.

PSA: Don't Fall for the "DriveADream" Lemon Trap…read more If you are looking at a manufacturer buyback or lemon-titled vehicle from DriveADream, be aware of the deceptive pricing tactics used to mask the true value of their inventory. 1. The "MSRP" Illusion DriveADream markets their cars as "thousands off MSRP." This is a classic bait-and-switch. They are comparing the price of a used, branded-title car to a factory-fresh sticker price. A fair comparison is against other used cars with similar mileage and clean titles. 2. Predatory Pricing A lemon-titled vehicle typically carries a 25-40% valuation penalty. DriveADream frequently lists lemons at the same price as clean-titled counterparts. For instance, they are currently listing Kia EV9 lemons for ~$40,000--the same price Kelly Blue Book lists for a clean title. 3. The Insurance Gap (The Hidden Cost) They will tell you the car is "better than new" because it's been inspected, but your insurance company won't care. If you total a car you bought for $40,000 that has a lemon title, the insurance payout will be based on the branded value--roughly $24,000. You will be instantly underwater by $16,000 the moment you drive off the lot. The Bottom Line: Don't let "luxury" branding distract you from the math. If you aren't getting at least 30% off the used market value, you aren't getting a deal--you're getting scammed.

I've debated on writing this review for a good solid week. I've got some time so I might as well…read moreshare my experience. Honestly, buying a car really should take as much time and energy as it did to purchase this car. Before I jump into the details, I'll say that Keenan and Nigel were amazing. Brian the finance guy was an ass but I'll get into that in a moment. Long story long: went to ALM on a Monday, test drove a car. Liked it but wasn't in love with it. Keenan got online with me, we scrolled through some other cars and we found one that was at ALM Newnan. Nigel said they could bring it over on Tuesday morning. I had to work so I sent my husband. When he got there, the car wasn't there. They said they'd bring it Wednesday, I sent my dad. But it wasn't there when he was on his way midday. I happened to be checking the website and the car popped up that it was at ALM Marietta. I texted Keenan and he said he was off but that John would be able to help me. I got there and John immediately began to ask about numbers. I hadn't even test driven the car yet. I test drove it and then we immediately jumped into the numbers. We went back and forth for a longgg time about all the add- ons and ultimately why the math wasn't mathing. Essentially we found out that there was hidden insurance in the final number that "our system adds and there's no way to notate that it's there" We settled everything up and I left. I came back the next day because they promised me new tires and do you know these folks tried to take my car back.?? They said they didn't sell the car for the right price and that the manager was gonna try and not fund the sale. At the end of the day, I got to keep the car, with no added fees or anything. But I would be hard pressed to buy from them again.
