ALL of us stranded outside NEXTCAR (aka Mexi-rental) when we did not get a car that we RESERVED.

PLEASE READ BEFORE YOU DO BUSINESS with this company. This is completely unacceptable! I paid for my reservation to Expedia, and NEXTCAR cancelled my reservation as I stood in front of their register. We had NO vehicle for the duration of our stay in Orlando during Christmas week. Every company we tried was sold out. (Avis, Hertz, etc) I did not cancel my reservation. The agent told us we needed add'l insurance, even though we were covered by our credit card. This seemed SCAMMY.. Then he said we had to pay a $2500 DEPOSIT, and brought out a CC swiper machine FROM THE BACK OFFICE! My husband snapped a pic of the guy & he got mad & HE cancelled our reservation! On the spot! We had no car for our trip. We LYFTed to our destination. This company is a fraud, and EXPEDIA is the middle man. I wish Id read the review on GOOGLE. Nearly every review says it's a scam. They go by several names- NEXT CAR , Mexi-Rentals & Stride is the company that emailed me. Why is Expedia booking our reservations through this horrible company? How can Expedia be trusted? We were among at least 4 other parties of people left stranded at the site. I am nearly certain that this company that Expedia does business with is illegal. I have photos of employees & all the customers that were left stranded for the holidays.

Brief Summary: This is a predatory Orlando business targeting travelers. Upon arrival they tell travelers they cannot honor their original car rental reservation and must instead make a new reservation at the current day rate, which is hundreds of dollars higher. Details: The car rental agency operates under the following names: MEX rent a car, NEXTCAR, Facility rent a car. Zoom rental car, Stride rent a car. While they use a variety of names, in reality it is all the same business and location. When travelers arrive, the perpetrators will claim that their reservation wasn't processed by the original booking site (Expedia, Travelocity, Priceline, Booking.com, etc) and that they no longer have a vehicle available. They will then tell travelers they must cancel their original reservation and rebook with one of the "other companies" on site at the current daily rate, which is hundreds of dollars higher. Why it Matters: I was on the receiving end of this predatory scam and witnessed them employing the same bait and switch tactic on every other person who arrived to pick up a car. I spoke with other travelers who told me they were coerced into paying 4 to 5 times the cost of their original reservation. These were often people who couldn't afford to do so and were financially vulnerable, but felt like they had no other choice but to comply. The company poses as a reputable agency but in reality they are targeting and deceiving unwitting travelers and extorting them for higher prices when they no longer have an alternative. Impact: Travelers at the location are exhausted, vulnerable, and still being preyed upon every day. These people had small children, elderly parents, and important life events they were trying to get to. It's a scam designed to force people to accept a substantially higher rate under duress. I have never encountered a situation like this in any other city or country I've traveled to. The fact that a business like this is being allowed to continue operating in Orlando is an embarrassment to the entire city, which relies heavily upon tourism. Original booking fee minus security deposit

Two weeks later, still waiting on my security deposit refund ?! Never mind the rest of my complaints, can't get through to anyone, no replies to emails to them or the corporate co.

0 stars! Worst rental car service I've ever encountered! Scam artists! We paid online through Priceline and that was a huge mistake. The employee who waited on us was no different than Miss Cleo. We were exhausted from our flight and travels and just wanted to get in our car and go to our hotel. That took about 45 minutes unfortunately. She tried to sell us on this and that, which was annoying af! Everything was pre-paid and all she should have asked for was ID and proof of insurance. She then lies to us and tells us that we will need an EZ pass as there are a lot of tolls and it's worth it. So we paid $55 for a pass that we literally passed through two tolls that would have cost us $6. Disgusting! We asked for a refund for that lie, but we never received it. I hate scammers and this place employees nothing but them. They also overcharged us for gas after we prepaid for it because we knew we wouldn't be able to fill up before due to shuttle service, early travels, and the time our flight boarded. Their pick up service at the airport is lengthy and they also expect a tip. lol. The price you see and the price you pay are totally different! You're better off renting a car at the airport. Stay far and clear from this place!

There was no signage directing mobile check in customers to "skip" the line to get their keys, so I unknowingly waited 30mins to talk to someone. This was because the truck I was assigned via the app was parked behind others trucks, so there was no way to retrieve the truck on my own. Then when I got to a person, it took another 30 mins for the person to get my truck--keys were lost maybe? Not sure because there was not much communication. So I stood for 1 hour on my feet when I should have had a five min experience using mobile checkin. The location should not assign a truck that is parked in the back of the lot and not accessible; need to add signage or better directions for mobile users; they could have processed customers quicker with more staff so the line moved quicker; and they should provide trucks with a least a little bit of gas as the one I was provided had 3 miles left in it before needing gas. I appreciate that the manager comped some of my add-ons without me asking, but it didn't really feel like enough compensation for the stress and delay it caused my house move. Otherwise, the store was clean, mobile check was a good experience otherwise, equipment was in good shape (minus the lack of gas).

I moved from out of state, used a Ubox and payed extra for insurance. Added help to load the box and my things were treated as garbage. The Ubox door was falling off and an employee fixed it so careless that drilled into our new baby crib. My other daughters $500 ride along electric car end up scratched every where. Upset I called the 800 number to canceled the help to unload the Ubox and I was told it was done over the phone. That I would receive the refund within days. When I called the next day and waited over 15 minutes just to double check if it was canceled I then was told I had to do it online. When I arrived to this store the older man behind the counter was rude and upset that I had canceled the help because by then they had loaded the box into a trailer to be towed. I told him I had called to cancel and he tells me " well they don't tell us this stuff" ( like its my fault the lack of communication they have). Dealing with the insurance for your damage belongings is a headache and takes ALOT of back and forth emails to be told you will only be receiving $100 because things are funcional. I asked for things to be fixed not for the cash but I was denied and told that what they will do is send the check by mail. Thanks to Uhaul my daughters will sleep and play with damaged but functional items.
