We recently used Fox rentals through Expedia. First of all, beware that they are NOT located at the airport. The shuttle runs during "business hours" which is listed as 5am-12:30. (Another traveler had to call them after our 12am arrival flight even though they expressly say they shuttle and allowed us to book a 12:30am pickup time. We even provided our flight information to them) The shuttle driver made it sound like they were doing us a favor by "staying late" and had a $5 bill sticking out of the dash so we all knew he was accepting tips. We get there and we had booked the rental in my Husbands name, using my mother's card (she and I handled the itinerary for the trip.) Although we purchased the additional insurance through Expedia, Fox required that we also purchase insurance through them at another $15.40 per day. The fees will absolutely floor you, but we will get to that later. They wanted a credit card on file (or a debit card as long as they could put a $1000 hold on it) for incidentals. They wouldn't accept a credit card from my mother, it had to be the in the booked drivers name. We asked to switch the booked driver to my mother, nope they COULD NOT do that. They did offer to REBOOK under my mom's name, but not until the following "morning" at 3x the cost. Eventually my husband just gave them his card, they charged a random amount, but said they'd just do $750- they charged us $775.45 the additional fees the charged us conveniently added up to $275.45, so he was refunded $500.00 on the dot. This was not explained to us, we were told it was just a hold for incidentals. They said nothing about the charges they knew they were charging us coming out at the ends but obviously that's what the plan was. My god THE FEES!! Fees for the privilege of using their license plates In the state of Florida PER DAY, fees for "energy recovery" PER DAY (for them to vacuum the carpet and wipe down the dash),A BUS ACCESS FEE Because they let you use their "free shuttle." A "PRIVILEGE FEE RECOVERY" that they pay the airport and then pass on to the customer for the privilege of operating their business "at the airport." (Reminder we had to be shuttled from the airport and nearly didn't have a chance to check in. If they didn't "stay late" and the other traveler hadn't called, we would have been in a world of trouble! And they're also charging a bus access fee, so seems like a double dip to me. No "at the airport" privileges but all the cost of them!) A daily cost for "PlatePass Inc" although I'm pretty certain we only went on roads that required tolls on two different days. We weren't offered anything other than this. (I highly recommend looking into alternative options on your own, they're not trying to help you AT ALL! There may be a way to buy your own transponder, I saw some at Publix but I have no idea how they work) No one went out with us to look over the vehicle to see if there were any damages prior to us taking it. I took all around pictures and videos so they'd be time stamped incase it became an issue. When we got back, no one looked over the vehicle with us. They had us leave it with the keys on the dash. The shuttle driver was rushing us to get on the shuttle so he could depart for the airport. The whole thing was so strange--- even the non-descript pick up Places had a ton of people there that loaded into unmarked sprinter vans. VANS THAT MY HUSBAND AND MOTHER WERE GOING TO GET INTO BECAUSE THEY THOUGHT IT WAS FOX! Their shuttles are clearly marked but at the time we didn't know that (and for all I know those sprinter vans were Fox!) I would recommend saving yourself the headache and making sure you can conduct your business at the airport. I fully believe the nominal savings we thought we had using Fox was not worth the headache the "what ifs" (what if another traveler hadn't called to have a shuttle sent to us at 12:10-12:15 when they hadn't planned on sending a shuttle for the 12am arrival?? What if they got into a sprinter van thinking it was Fox's shuttle? What if they tried to charge us for dents/dings already on the vehicle?) and we actually ended up paying more than we thought we had in savings. The vehicle itself was okay, it definitely seemed like it has been used and abused. We babied it- but all functionalities seemed to work just fine. All and all we learned our lesson . Now that we know what to expect, I'll definitely take it into consideration for future trips requiring a rental vehicle. read more

We had a very frustrating and misleading experience with Fox Rent A Car in Orlando, Florida. We prepaid for our rental online, but when we arrived, we were unexpectedly told we had to pay a $251 deposit. This was not clearly communicated ahead of time. During the paperwork process, the representative asked if we wanted to add car insurance. We clearly said no. She then stated that the only additional charge we were agreeing to was the $14.99 toll pass. My husband even asked what he was signing, and she assured him it was only for the rental and the refundable deposit. We returned the car without any issues and were told we would receive our full $251 deposit back by midnight the next day. That did not happen. When we called customer service, we were then told that because my husband "signed agreeing to insurance," we would not be getting our full deposit back and would instead receive less than $150. At no point did we agree to insurance. We explicitly declined it. This feels extremely deceptive being told one thing verbally and then charged for something completely different based on paperwork that was not properly explained. This experience lacked honesty and transparency from start to finish. We feel misled and taken advantage of. I do not recommend this company. I was treated quite terribly by Fox Car Rental in Orlando, FL. During vehicle pickup, the rental agent at the Fox desk told me that I had to accept one of three tolls packages they had available. The agent showed me a map of the Orlando area with roads in blue highlighted to indicate they were cashless toll roads. All of the roads on the map provided by Fox indicated they were toll roads, suggesting that every road in Orlando had a toll associated with its use. During my vehicle use, I did not recall seeing any toll roads or signs suggesting that I was about to use a toll road. During vehicle return, my travelling companions boarded the bus at Fox to take us to the airport for our return to home. I told the guy who checked the return of the vehicle into their system that I had to go into their office to ask a question. As soon as I entered the rental desk area, the bus had pulled forward towards the exit. The people behind the desk said that there was no time for questions as my bus was leaving, and that I would have to arrange for my own taxi from Fox to the airport if I missed that bus. I was wanting to ask about a refund I was due, but was dramatically pressured to get on the departing bus and keep my questions to myself. Last, Fox had a parting gift of a charge on my bill for bus access fee (presumably for the bus ride from Fox to the airport.) I had an emergency situation and requested a tow/pickup service from this rental company. I later canceled or no longer needed the service, but I was charged several hundred dollars in fees. I tried contacting customer service multiple times to explain the circumstances and ask for some leniency or a reduced fee, but I did not receive a helpful response. I understand companies have policies, but I was disappointed by the lack of communication and compassion in handling the situation. BEWARE!!! I rented a car Jan 2026 and never saw a paper contract. They refuse to credit the amount when called on it also. They can manipulate your agreement because you sign a kiosk screen with minimal information and need to rely verbally on the sales rep to do the right thing. I was charged the liability insurance against my will and they will lie, cheat, and steal from you any way they can. This is a place for fraud allowing scammers to make a dishonest living at your expense. Consumer Protection Agencies should be hard at work to shut this place down. Want a tour of the MCO Orlando Airport? Fox Rent A Car is off site. Like let's stop at every terminal before we get to the very off site terminal where you will wait in line to actually get your car. It's Orlando, so I guess the hour lines start with the shuttle to the car rental agency. As far as the car, it was okay until the check engine came on as we were going back to return the car to the airport rental site. Make sure that you check your bill. Florida Sunshine Plate pass is $12 a day which is good if you are driving to WPB, Tampa and Cocoa Beach. Tolls are everywhere and they add up. Probably not necessary if you are staying in Orlando. Next time in Orlando, I'll make sure that we rent from an onsite car rental agency. read more

I had a very frustrating experience with FOX Rent A Car in Orlando. I had already prepaid for my rental as part of an Expedia package, and before arriving I was told that I could use my own insurance coverage. With proper trip planning, this was an easy going experience. We got out of the airport to see the shuttle for Fox leaving, but another popped up less than 10 minutes later. The driver was fast back to the rental store. So we paid, and authorized our rental hold. Given the chance to use their insurance and toll package, we declined the insurance or Toll package. They let us know that they do not work with "Private insurance." So we understood that we would be fully on the hook for car repairs in the event of an accident. We carry full insurance from home, plus use our travel credit card. Which also provides rental insurance when you decline "in-house" insurance. So we are legally covered. With a credit card they authorize $150 hold for extra charges on the return. Such as if we gained tolls, or didn't refuel the car. They do not allow debit checking cards to do the hold. The car was great. A 2025 Sentra, that only had a couple things to note on the inspection. We only used 3/4 of the full tank provided doing 5 days of driving. The return experience after refilling the tank for $24 was smooth. You drive up to the shop, leave the keys in the car, and take your stuff. They inspect the car quickly, and confirm your email address for the receipt. Then you're off on their shuttle to the airport about 10 minutes away. Do not plan your return close to your departure time. In case there's any delays. Otherwise, it was quick for us with minimal shuttle waiting compared to other experiences of ours. read more

I verbally declined additional liability insurance coverage when at the FOX counter because my personal car insurance company will cover the rental. I even offered to show my insurance card if they needed the information with the insurance company I currently held. They put on a $350 hold on one of my credit cards - which i expected - but after returning my rental in perfect condition, I find out they are charging me $119 for liability insurance anyway. Apparently when you scroll through the agreements on their IPAD and initial it 10 times and then sign off - one of the sections you initial states you accept their insurance coverage. NOBODY reads the fine print and we expect to be dealing with honest and truthful agents at the counter. FOX refuses to reimburse me. $119 will not break me. I previously rented from exact same FOX location in Orlando multiple times without this fraud. I will never rent FOX again. BE aware - they will take advantage of you. FOX in Orlando - I am not sure how you sleep at night - taking advantage of families. In reading the reviews (afterwards) I see this exact same issue with additional liability insurance has happened numerous times previously to other families. The shuttle that was supposed to run every 15 minutes to pick us up at the airport left us sitting in the rain with a 2 yr old for 40 minutes before we took a cab to the rental office. The rental and car seat we reserved were unavailable. I was told by the rudest employee named Henry that they dont hold your rental its only reserved (makes no sense). He finally went in the back and rummage around and found a car seat that " had just been returned". It was late, raining and the child we were traveling with was exhausted. I was a victim of misleading toll information at pickup - very expensive mistake. Rented from Fox Rent A Car at the Orlando (MCO) location. At pickup, I specifically asked if I could use my own toll transponder (such as SunPass). I was told by the desk agent that third-party toll transponders are not allowed on rental cars and that I had to purchase Fox's toll program. I later learned this information was incorrect. Florida toll authorities allow portable third-party transponders to be used in rental vehicles. I relied on what I was told at the counter and ended up paying significantly more than necessary in toll-related add-ons. I had a good experience at Fox Rent a Car and thank you Rola for taking care of me. Honestly, the whole staff were super kind, helpful and accommodating. I had a reservation, it was super inexpensive. It is $12 a day for their Sun Pass for the tolls. And you have to add it in advance, so it's not per use. There were an array of cars on the lot. My first car was a Kia but as I was driving, the tire pressure were all uneven so it felt like it was driving towards the right. I stopped by to drop it off and Rola was kind to upgrade me to a Nissan Rouge. Nissan Rouge drove GREAT. I was a bit hesitant to drive a bigger car but Rola assured me that it was a smaller SUV and a good drive - she was right. I dropped off my car at 640am and the shuttle was already waiting. The driver WAS SO KIND and funny and helpful. Older gentleman. Letting me know where the VIPs go and their limos. I enjoyed and will stop by when I am in town. read more

He presented himself as super friendly and very helpful. However, everything he said was a complete lie and a scam to take money from what I thought was only a deposit! Here are all the discrepancies: 1. We requested to waive the insurance because we had our own and Gregory said we were signing to waive the insurance. However, we were charged over $15 per day for their insurance. 2. Gregory said we would be charged approx $1.50 or less per toll road we traveled while in Orlando. However, we were charged over $13 per day for a toll road express pass that we didn't ask for. 3. Gregory said we would be charged the standard rate of gas to fill the car up when we returned the vehicle. However, we were charged over $66 for a full tank of gas above our rental cost that was not originally disclosed. 4. Gregory said the $400 was a deposit that would be returned as long as the vehicle was returned in the same condition. However, when I called to complain about the fact that they only returned $150 of my $400 deposit, the billing department advised that the deposit was only $150. The remaining amount paid was estimated fees owed. This was a complete Lie!!! 5. A rental that started as under $380, ended up costing me almost $750 due to lies, misrepresentation, and deceitful sales tactics. I will NEVER use this rental company again. And I am seeking legal action to have my money returned that was taken due to unethical sales tactics and misrepresentation. Billing was rude and offered zero help. I was told that it doesn't matter that he lied. I should have read my contract. Pissed is an understatement. Let me be VERY clear.....this is NOT a misunderstanding. After a discussion about the difference there website shows as the "Special" cars and "Managers Special" it was quite a letdown. Long Wait & Rude Service I stood in line for over 45 minutes, and when I finally got to the desk, the agent was rushed, dismissive, and visibly annoyed to be helping me!! Zero professionalism or courtesy. 2. $1 "Hold" Charge The agent said he needed to put a $1 hold on my card for their system, and that it would be refunded. Surprise: it never was!! 3. Huge Difference Between Quote and Final Cost I booked the car at $150 total (including taxes and fees). My final bill? $255--thanks to undisclosed fees, and random surcharges that were never mentioned during booking or pickup! 4. Forced Toll Package With Threats of Fines I was basically forced to purchase a $13.99/day toll pass, with the agent warning me I'd be charged $15 per toll if I didn't. It didn't feel like an option--it felt like a threat! 5. Ridiculous Passport Request Despite being a U.S. citizen with valid ID, the agent insisted on seeing a passport. After I explained that I didn't have one on me, he reluctantly accepted other ID I had lucky brought with me this time, but was clearly irritated. He said their system "required it," which made no sense! I never had to give a passport to rent a vehicle before! 6. No Vehicle Assistance After all the hassle, I was simply handed the keys and told to find, and inspect the car on my own. No one showed me where it was parked, no walk-through, and not a single staff member in sight. I actually had to set off the alarm just to locate it in the lot. To protect myself from any false damage claims, I took detailed videos of the car inside and out--because at that point, I didn't trust them at all!! Final Thoughts This was a total mess--hidden fees, bad service, and a complete lack of customer care. Long wait for the shuttle bus to the airport . I'll gladly pay a little more next time for transparency, and professionalism with companies like Enterprise, Avis, or Hertz. Fox is not worth the headache!! read more

From the moment I arrived at the airport, I had to wait far too long for the shuttle to pick me up, which already set the tone for the rest of the rental process. When I finally got to the counter, it felt like they were more interested in upselling me insurance than actually renting me a car which was paid for full before. Despite having my own INSURANCE COVERAGE, they refused to accept it and insisted I purchase theirs. On top of that, they wanted me to buy a TOLL STICKER. I had to pay $208 for insurance. Then after a month a see a CHARGE ON MY CARD $55.86 for just TOLL for witch I was not provided proof I passed one neither contacted. The lack of transparency and customer service at Fox Rentals is appalling, and I will never use their service again. Upon pickup of car on 11/27, all add-ons, coverages, options, etc. were DECLINED. I was charged $255.03 and was told this was the deposit hold and would get it all back upon drop off if no issues. We were asked about tolls (PlatePass), coverage, and fuel. I declined all several times. They were asking if sure as there are a lot of tolls in the Orlando area. I was 100% sure as very familiar and was not driving on any toll roads. I said no and they acknowledged. There was no paper contract or anything to read or sign. There was a blank screen on credit card to initial or sign. He said it was to decline everything and just the rental. There as no issues at drop off and was waiting for refund. A few days later, I got a refund of $189.48 which was $65.55 short. I called the day I got refund (12/3). I was told that I purchased PlatePass and they sent me the receipt. I informed that I did NOT purchase and was declined. They said there is nothing that can be done besides send escalation to location and would hear back in 24 hours. I called again on 12/4 to follow up as did not hear back. They advised the same and a manager was not available so would call me back in 24 hours. I called again on 12/9 to follow up once again and same thing. There is no records and no manager to speak too for dispute. I attempted survey after call and it immediately kept saying invalid selections and thank you for survey. It appears they did not allow me to do survey as they knew I'm disputing and upset. I called again on 12/12. they are refusing to do anything or investigate. They said I have to keep calling to ask for manager. They forged and did fraudulent charge to my card and refuse to acknowledge. I have BBB complaint currently in progress. Hopefully can get attention and reply from that. The car might be cheap rental, but the bottom line is terribly expensive. The Sunpass is a SO expensive which is additional and you have to purchase it, per FOX policy. A 2 week car rental, it's expensive. WE only wanted to $30 0n the Sun Pass, they said a BIG no. Turned out to be under $200.00 The car was nice, they had a shuttle to the airport. Need better service and honesty! First, the service is slow. Each counter person has to walk back and forth multiple times between two locations to finish each customer. That creates a long waiting line. Second, they can't get the car ready in time after finishing the paperwork. I am told to wait for 25 minutes, but ended up waiting for more than an hour. read more

The worst: stay away! I booked through Expedia. Upon return of the car when my rental was up, I was immediately rushed into the shuttle bus, just as the car check-in process had begun. When I returned home, there were additional charges on my credit card, too late for me to discuss them. I filled the car's tank immediately before going to return the car. Only one gallon was used on my short drive from where I was staying, back to Fox (approx. 25 miles). I was charged for a full tank of gas. There were also other charges that should have been included in the Expedia fee. Over $100.00 worth of bogus charges were added. Other problems: 1. After booking, you get a notice stating that during peak hours, shuttle service may be delayed. That was very true. Far slower than any of the other companies that picked up at my stop at the airport (some companies had two pickups before the Fox bus arrived). 2. The bus ride from the airport to Fox address was 22 minutes. It's not close to the airport. 3. When I finally got the car, it was not clean. The windshield & rear windows (inside & out) were filthy & water spotted). Not good in the bright Florida sun. I had to stop & buy window cleaner & towels. Please don't be fooled by their slightly lower price: they will stick you with bogus charges at the end. In addition, you'll receive substandard car, & service. read more

The biggest scam there is I was charged over $700.00 to rent a car for 3 days. Paid 400.00 at time of booking and when we picked up the car they ask for additional deposit of 461. but said it was in case I returned car and there were problems. Returned car and they put through additional $370. I called them and it was a joke charged me for gas and I just filled up charged me for a convenience fee for picking up the car also for additional insurance which I said I do not want at the time I picked up the car but since they had my credit card the figured why not. Scammers masked as a car rental company. I have bought a bundle deal, that included the car rental. Via this deal I have explicitly answered several questions about what kind of insurance etc I want for the car rental. When I asrrived to pick up the car they have masked a bunch of extra charges as a "deposit". I was stupid that I haven't read through everything fully, but it was late night and I was there with toddlers and thought I can trust a big car rental company. Seems like that is not the case. Lesson learned, but if you can avoid these scammers who take advantage of a family late night with little kids. Absolutely disgusting! read more

Beware!!!! Review docs before signing!! They will add additional fees like insurance, extra coverage, toll ect... we have insurance and we decline to obtain it. They put it on without our knowledge and told us we already sign it so no refund. Waiting on the manager to respond to make this right for us.
