Extremely Disappointing Experience - Aggressive Employee, Misleading Information, and Unexpected Charges I'll start by saying that we waited 45 minutes for the shuttle to pick us up. During that time, we watched shuttles from other rental companies, including cheaper ones, come and go. The line at the rental counter wasn't even particularly long, despite it being Halloween. Unfortunately, that was just the beginning of a really unpleasant experience. The employee who handled my rental was incredibly rude, aggressive, and intimidating. He insisted that I purchase Ace's unlimited toll package. I explained that I knew the area, had rented cars in the area several times before, and knew how to avoid toll roads. He responded by telling me, "You'll be sorry if you don't," and insisted that I needed the package just to get to my hotel. I was traveling with my young son, and his aggressive approach made me extremely uncomfortable. I finally asked how much the toll package would cost. He quoted me $13 plus tax. Because I wanted to be absolutely certain, I asked him SIX TIMES whether that was the total charge. I specifically asked, "So when I return the car, the only additional charge will be this $13, and that's it?" He answered, "YES!" At that point, his increasingly pushy and confrontational behavior made me feel so uncomfortable that I decided it wasn't worth continuing to question him over $13. I genuinely felt intimidated and worried that he would become even more aggressive if I kept asking questions. My son was standing right there and heard the entire conversation, including my repeated attempts to confirm the price. When I returned the car, I encountered another frustrating situation. It seemed that getting an immediate receipt wasn't made particularly easy. The employee checking in the car didn't explain that I could request a printed receipt inside, leaving me with the impression that a paper receipt wasn't available. Fortunately, there was no line, so I was able to go inside and ask for one. That's when I discovered that I had been charged $49 for the unlimited toll package, not the $13 plus tax I had been explicitly promised. I immediately questioned the charge and told the employee that this was not the price I had agreed to and that I wanted the additional amount removed from my credit card. He asked whether I had used any toll roads. I explained that I had taken ONE toll road during the rental. Since the employee had assured me six times that the package would cost only $13 plus tax, I had assumed there was no reason not to use it that one time. As I had explained at the beginning, I knew the area and had otherwise avoided toll roads. My overall impression of Ace is that customers, particularly women traveling without a male companion, can be subjected to intimidating and aggressive treatment. I honestly believe this interaction would have been very different had my husband been standing beside me. My mom and I have rented from ACE at least four times in the past and have generally had good experiences. The shuttle has always been convenient, and I've typically had short or no wait times when picking up my rental, so I was very disappointed by what happened on my most recent rental. During my most recent rental, Rick added optional insurance coverage to my rental agreement without explaining that I was accepting it. I did not request or verbally authorize the coverage, and I was not made aware that I was agreeing to purchase it when I signed the agreement. I also did not need the coverage, as I already have rental car insurance and primary rental car coverage through my Capital One credit card. As soon as I noticed the charge on my credit card, I contacted ACE to explain what happened and asked them to remove the charge. Unfortunately, they did not do anything to resolve the issue. They also did not stop the coverage for the remainder of my rental after I brought the issue to their attention. What is most disappointing is that I have trusted ACE enough to rent from them multiple times in the past without any problems. I would expect a company to address a situation like this when a customer explains that an optional product was added without their knowledge. Instead, I was left feeling that my concerns were simply dismissed. I hope ACE reviews what happened and how optional coverage is presented to customers at the counter so others don't have the same experience. I would also recommend that anyone renting from ACE carefully review every line of the agreement before leaving the counter. The optional coverages are listed in small print as accepted or declined, but the agent did not point this out or explain that I was accepting the coverage. So my issue is not at all with customer service...in fact the guy helping me was very nice and helpful. My car had several scratches on it and I couldn't care less about that as it's not my car. My issue is I reserved this car online through my military site and the total was $190.49 (pic included) but my final costs were $312.81. The fees and everything else they charge cost an additional $122.32. Pre paid fuel. Platepass. Daily extension adjustment? Concession recovery? Bunch more on there but come on guys. No communication on where to find the shuttle from the airport. Booked through Priceline where it was advertised as an airport rental car place but was located a 15 minute shuttle ride away. Booked on Priceline for $74 but they added extra taxes and fees, then used scam tactics to sneakily add on additional items to the bill. I told them I had my own insurance because my car insurance policy covers my rental cars and they asked for my information for my policy and said nothing more about it. Quietly added collision damage to the bill and didn't say anything. They told me that there would be a $200 refundable deposit on my card so I didn't think twice when the total on the sheet they gave me said $294. Nope they charged me $294 + a $200 deposit instead of the $74 Priceline guaranteed. Took three calls to finally get through to them and they claimed since my personal vehicle is older that the shit Toyota Corolla they gave me that my full coverage policy wasn't good enough but my insurance said that's bullshit. I wouldn't rent from here again if my life depended on it and my trust with this company is permanently ruined. According to the branch the billing team is their only "manager" that I can speak to and has no phone number I can call. BUT that same billing department that didn't reply to any of my emails about the CDW sent me a list of my finalized charges for $336.19. According to the branch location, it's because my car was returned at 1/4 tank when I only prepaid for half a tank of fuel. Luckily I took pictures of the dash showing the fuel levels when I dropped it off at more than 3/4 of a tank. The same billing department that has ignored every email I've sent about the insurance did reply back to refund me for the gas and then ghosted me again when I replied back asking about the insurance. This appears to be the cheapest rental option but for a reason, it's offsite. Also, after returning the car they tack on a bunch of unremovable fees. Our original "quote" was for about $115 and we were ended up being charged $215 so $100 over. So rent at your own risk. They also have a shuttle that picks you up at the 1st floor. It's a bit confusing as there's no real clear instructions. Upon arrival from baggage claim you have to go down a floor to floor 1 then cross the street to a parking lot at A11-A13 or B11-B13 then the shuttle will pick you up there. read more

DO NOT RENT FROM ACE - TOTAL SCAM EXPERIENCE I would strongly warn anyone against renting from Ace. This was one of the worst rental experiences I've ever had. First, it took nearly 2 hours just to get the car. The biggest issue is that they advertise as being at Orlando International Airport through Booking.com but they are NOT on-site. After landing, I spent time walking up and down the rental car hall looking for Ace, only to find out it's not even listed there. I called the number provided multiple times and was left on hold with no answer. After asking airport staff, I was told Ace is offsite. Despite my booking clearly stating "Orlando International Airport" (which I specifically filtered for to avoid this exact issue), I had to figure things out myself. I waited 45 minutes for the shuttle, it never came. I ended up paying $25 for an Uber just to get to the rental location. When I got there and explained what happened, the staff said they "hear that all the time." Then came the pricing shock. I had prepaid $164, but by the time I left, the total was almost $400. They told me my third-party insurance "wasn't adequate" and added more charges. They also forced a toll pass on me, claiming that without it, a small toll could turn into massive fees. The car itself? Basic, worn down, maintenance light on, and visibly damaged. Definitely not what you expect for the price. When I pushed back on the extra charges, I was basically told that if I didn't like it, I could go rent somewhere else & that they charge more because they're "not a large company" and have to get the money somewhere. After an overall horrible experience and tense conversation with both a receptionist and the location manager at the check-out desk, I decided to venture onto Yelp to leave a review in hopes to protect other unknowing renters from selecting this company. Seems like countless others have had the same or similar experience with ACE. When we picked up our car, we explicitly stated we did not want any additional coverage or other fees onto the rental, just the bare bones of what we paid for the car and fees from Expedia ($84). The attendant then told us that Florida law requires us to purchase a minimum coverage in order to rent a vehicle. Having rented cars in this state countless times and never having an issue with this, it sounded fishy. We also were never asked if we had personal insurance we would like to file for coverage on the car. ACE also never showed us a physical copy of the contract to read before we were asked to sign, just a digital screen with a line to initial. When they printed out the receipt, we saw that we were charged $266. It was late at night, so we decided to deal with it when we returned the car. After a 30 minute conversation with the manager on site and feeling deceived and taken advantage of, we were finally reimbursed the additional $180+ of fees. I didn't do much research about them and booked it. They are not at Maco but rather 10-15 minutes away from the airport so you will have to wait for their shuttle. When I arrived at the rental car service center, they told me my reservation total was $356 which included a $37/day insurance as I waived the tolls [~$13]. This car rental charges you for things you don't want. They don't tell you an adult over 25 as an extra driver is a charge per day only if you use there cc. They force you to put there car insurance coverage even if you have your own to cover it. They will then come back and say it's optional but won't refund you. The employees there are shady and commit fraud charges and then the management team does nothing about it. This company should be shut down for this. TL:DR - this place has 1 star reviews for a reason... The price was great but that was really the only positive. It took about 40 minutes for the shuttle to arrive to the airport. I had to call since so many people were waiting. I was told "Orlando traffic" was to blame, but the site is 1.4 miles from the airport and when we finally did get on the shuttle, there wasn't any traffic in sight. (PS the owner responded to my review directly to Ace stating there are multiple factors for delays. There is zero excuse for the shuttle to take 40 minutes. Every other shuttle for every other rental car agency showed up several times before ours even arrived. When I dropped the car off, one of the shuttle drivers was flirting with a girl in the office so perhaps check on your employees rather than gaslighting me). The lobby smelled STRONLY of cat urine (this wasn't addressed in my other review. The stench was FOUL), the agent was not at all friendly, and I don't appreciate being charged $45 as a courtesy for tolls when I could have easily paid the $2 toll myself. Charging me extra is absolutely NOT a courtesy. Why don't you put the toll meter in the rental car and bill it to the card on file like every other reputable agency I've ever rented through? This is clearly a cash grab to make up for their insanely low prices. The car had zero amenities in it. I didn't even know cars in the 2020s were made without these amenities and I'm shocked that this is what was offered - I wasn't able to use any kind of navigation through the vehicle which made driving in a new place a bit challenging.
