This was part of our walking food tour, and their claim to fame other than dating back to 1321, is being featured in Harry Potter as the entrance to the Leaky Cauldron. But you should definitely visit for their variety of bars and pubs plus other shops & weekend markets (check their website for details). Great spot to visit anytime but especially if it's raining since it is a mostly covered venue.

The guy helped me with everything, took it to the counter while I looked around, helped me with the Summit Club membership and packaged it all up smoothly so I could get it back to my flat. The Kathmandu items are high quality and have already made many trips. They are durable and sleek, and high performance. Just what I needed. The last thing you want to deal with while traveling (with a baby or not) is crap luggage. Set right next to Spitalfields Market and boasting some rather fit staff, Kathmandu has everything for the civilian to adventurer. Water flasks, jackets, thermals, little key ring things with torches on them, it has it all. I actually found heaps of stuff I wanted to buy - probably more in the way you deck yourself out with designer gym wear after only one visit, to realise you're not quite the gym junkie you thought you would become if in fact you had the correct gear. It was fun anyway.

Out of the major supermarkets ASDA is far and away my favourite. Their superstores are packed full…read moreof goodies. They have the clothing label George, toys, CD's and loads of household goods. The range of food is excellent and the least costly of all the major stores. On site they have a pharmacy, optician, photo centre and a petrol station. They are also open 24hrs on a Tues, Wed, Thurs and Fri which means avoiding busy shopping hours. This is a great superstore and the only one I will do a big food shop at.

Hackney, in East End London seems to be the place for designer outlet shopping. The Aquascutum store here is not exactly super fashionable and hyper-trendy clothing but if you work in the dark-suit industries like banking and finance and need quality, professional clothes, then Aquascutum is your best bet. Trench coats which will last you forever, slacks, shirts, belts and accessories, you can find it all here without having to pay thousands of dollars or pounds. The sales associates are not snooty at all and in fact are very friendly.

I LOVE this shopping Centre; it's busy, bustling and brimming with all the treats you could want…read more One of the best things about the shopping centre is the Sainsbury's; it's the best and cheapest supermarket mega-store in the area, and has the largest selection of Quorn and vegetarian foods in the area (aside from specialist shops). There's also an Iceland, although I'm pretty opposed to this chain it is cheap as chips. There's the Hackney obligatory Percy Ingles, the bakery and a hot nut stand (the shop used to be on Kingsland Road but has now moved in here). There's also clothes shops, a Holland and Barret and acupuncture shop. As if in keeping with the Ridley Rd market, there's also stalls inside selling clothes that Albert Square would be proud of! Then of course there's the infamous Matalan where there was sadly a terrible murder earlier this year. This forced a tightening of security, and you often see police men wandering around. That said, the liveliness of the shopping centre is infectious, and seriously, the Sainsburys is well cheap!

I called in here to grab some food before getting the tube nearby to Wembley Stadium, there was a decent range of shops and places to eat, including brands such as Superdrug, Starbucks and Nandos', and a Waitrose store. Other stores here include Sainsbury's Local, Boots and 3, or if you're feeling hungry there is also the likes of itsu and Gourmet Burger Kitchen, the latter I only found out about after leaving it appeared to be hidden in the centre - shame! The entrance to the centre up a ramp which soon converted part into chairs looked quite dangerous, for me it looked like an accident waiting to happen with no clear lighting or signs to show it, which is why I can't help but wonder how this part of the building passed health and safety, which I can only guess is there down to it being grade II listed. A small selection of shops and places to eat and drink in decent surroundings, slightly quieter than getting something perhaps inside the Euston Station (or the square outside), and perhaps somewhere easy and nearby to go ahead of grabbing a train so it certainly is worthy of a solid three-star rating.

The main benefit are the stalls, where cheap fruit and veg can be bought although the new owners St Modwen, developers have built a new entrance area and new Asda they still have some way to go to remove the bleak brutalism of the place. What you see is what you get. In the local area are many fine Turkish grocers and cafes bargain meals for a £5 note Stew with rice, salad and bread. Don't be put of by the shank town Daily Mail nonsense.
