We bought our home over the summer and as it got cold we wanted our fireplace inspected and had noticed some cold drafts and occasional water dripping into the fireplace.
Ben came out in December and did an inspection, and gave us the OK to use the fireplace, but said that the draft and water issues would be fixable with a new damper at the top of the chimney (we had an old cast iron damper at the bottom) and having the outside of the chimney sealed so moisture would not soak through. He gave an estimate for both and said that if/when we were interested, to call.
We have really enjoyed using our fireplace since then...but recently noticed that the downdraft was pulling some smoky air into the house and we were getting tired of the campfire smell. I called them again, Ben was able to fit us in quickly, came out and installed the new damper in less than an hour, and it made a big difference. We will still need to have the outside sealed but that can't be done until the warmer weather.
Overall I'm very satisifed. Ben was professional on the phone and in person, very pleasant and considerate, made absolutely no mess in my home, and went out of his way to answer my questions and explain not only what he recommended but why. I will definitely be calling them for our future fireplace/chimney needs and would highly recommend them.
