Omg I love this shoe store! The people that work here are super nice and incredibly helpful. I just bought my 3rd pair from them. Just let them know what kind of shoes you are looking for (running, cross training, walking, every day shoes, sandals, etc). The first time I went they did an analysis of the way I walk and run. Based off that, the guy gave different recommendations for shoes to try. I fell in love with the Newton's for running! They have extra cushion on the ball of your feet so you don't get the foot pain like cheaper running shoes do. They take getting used to, but it didn't take long. My second pair is of the new ON Cloud shoes and they provide more stability, but have a nice cushion bounce to them once they are broken in. They allow you to try on their shoes, run, walk, jump, skip, use different terrain (they have boards with rocks, grass, pavement for you to walk on) in order to find what feels good on your feet. My third pair was of some Altra's. *My recommendation: if you have wide, bunions, corns (gross I know, but that's life) then try some ALTRA's!!! They make box toe shoes and they feel amazing!! Some of them look goofy, but this brand has come a looooong way by designing more attractive shoes now. * Yes, the shoes are pricey with the Newtons running about $100+, Altra about $89+, and ON brand $100+ but they will last you forever (unless you're a marathon runner, or you find more reasons to buy new shoes like me) and they are comparable to online prices (Amazon & Zappos). I know because I checked! So just be ready to drop a Franklin or two! Newsole also offers free walking/running classes every other Saturday (check their Facebook page). I've only had 2 different guys help me, but both of them have been incredibly nice and patient with me (I spent about 45 mins in the store each time). Through his store I bought a barefoot science footboard system to support my arch and release pressure on my planter. I previously was in the bicycle industry and did a lot of high end bike fits. I went in, literally in tears asking for help as my calves and plantar fascitis so bad i could hardly walk.The Owner David listened and offered a roller that my husband can use to roll out my too tight calves, I thought great another torture devise. I waited a while to leave a review for this place, and it worked both to my advantage and detriment. The good news is I can leave a solid review for the service and the recommended shoe! The bad news is I forget the name of the young guy who helped me find these perfect running shoes :( maybe Chris or Tyler?? Tall, slender, brown hair, super kind! Anyhow... really, THANK YOU is how I should start. A friend from work recommended this place and it's a half hour from my home AND from work either way you slice it, so to drive there after work and then home I was committing an hour (plus the time inside the store) to shop here. But again, came HIGHLY recommended! I certainly could have gone into Midtown to another local running store, which I like a lot, but it sounded like I really needed to check this place out. We'll call him Chris for the sake of clarity... I explained to Chris that I was about to restart my half marathon training after being off my foot for an injury caused by a couple of issues: a bad pair of shoes, and a high arch without the right support. Also, potentially, poor (self) training. I needed a shoe that could solve all my running problems. I think he fit me in every shoe in the store. Even lent me a clean pair of cushiony running socks with which to try on the shoes. He observed my jog, diagnosed a couple different issues with my stride, and recommended the Newton Kismets, which I did purchase. Now I'm a person who has to look at something very expensive, and think about it for 3-6 months before purchasing (which is how I ended up with the car I am pleased to say I am still driving now without much incident). I knew I didn't have that kind of time, so I put a lot of stock in his opinion, experience, observations. I have never been in the market for an athletic shoe over $100, but I knew if I wanted to get back into my training plan with enough time to prepare for my half marathon, I needed to get the plastic out and just get it over with. So I did. And he guaranteed that if the shoe didn't work out for whatever reason, even having run in them for a while, I could bring them back and he would help me find a new pair. I'm happy to let the Yelp! audience know that I am still running strong in my Kismets over a month and a half later. They are definitely the most comfortable, and I haven't experienced an ounce of pain related to my injury at all since I started running in these. They support my high arch well, and the way my foot curls upward when I run. It also offers plenty of support to the way I strike the ground with the balls of my feet. I am so grateful for the experts at NewSole and will recommend them to anyone. Worth the drive and certainly worth the money! THANK YOU for getting me back on the pavement and helping me increase my progress toward my goal. I'm faster and more confident than I've ever been in my running. What a relief to have found this wonderful shoe store!! Its excellent reviews are so accurate. I love to walk for exercise but I've had a years-long problem with pain in my feet. I've been to three podiatrists trying to address the problems but I had very little success. I've also spent a lot of money on expensive shoes that didn't help either. So, when Dave found me the perfect pair of comfortable (and beautiful) shoes and showed me some tricks for tying the shoe laces (to minimize contact with some painful areas), I was beyond thrilled. I was purchasing shoes for my 84 year old father. Dad broke his hip and is currently in a rehab facility. Because of this, he was unable to go in for a proper fitting. I called NEWsole and spoke with a gentleman (I believe it was the owner) who assured me that they would have the perfect shoe for dad. When I arrived, I was greeted and we got to work finding the right shoe. After deciding on the shoe, we contemplated size. Dad insisted on a size 12 but explaining that they ran small, it was recommended that i take him a size 13. Knowing my father is a very stubborn, I knew I had to get the 12. I decided to purchase both sizes so he could try on both. When I tried to buy both pair, I was very surprised when I was told to pay for one but to take both pair and return the pair that did not fit. I was reluctant to do this (mainly because this type of thing is so foreign these days) but was assured that it was the best way to go. Leaving with both pair I arrived at rehab to find that dads size 12 were too small and would not come near accommodating his foot. When he tried on the size 13 pair, it was as if he was Cinderella trying on the glass slipper. Dad loved the shoes and commented on their comfort. When I pulled up to NEWsole to return the extra pair, the gentleman saw me and came out to the car. I did not even have to get out. In this day and age, good customer is expected but rarely recognized. Today, I was the recipient of extraordinary customer service. Someone went beyond any of my expectations and made the experience so much easier than I had ever thought. My husband and I both purchase shoes from NEWsole and now my dad will be a loyal customer as well.
