We have been seeing Dr. Lai for over 5 years now. My son finished his braces about a year ago and my daughter should be done by next year. She had expanders put on as the first stage of her treatment a few years ago and we came back to Dr. Lai when it was time for her braces. Expanders were recommended by Dr. Lai as the first stage of my daughter's treatment to avoid having teeth removed. When we looked into an Orthodontist for our kids we asked friends and family then searched online. I'm very glad we were able to find Dr. Lai. She is personable, meticulous, patient, knowledgeable, and shows the utmost professionalism. My son wasn't the most cooperative when it came to using his rubber bands to fix the gaps between his upper and lower teeth so it took a little longer to get things straightened out. Most orthodontist would probably have given up and said it was good enough but not Dr. Lai. She made sure it was perfect before removing the braces even though it took longer. She has always answered all our questions and concerns. Even when the office is super busy she always took great care of us and made sure the kids were doing well. Yes, the office does get very busy at times but we always try to come on the weekdays. Overcrowding is something we don't have to worry about now. We had our first appointment last month after the office reopened because of the shut down due to Covid 19. During these unprecedented times of Corona Virus safety protocols have to be put in place to protect patients, staff, and doctors alike. This is one of the main reason I decided to post a review after all these years. We were a bit apprehensive when the call came to schedule a time for our visit. But it has been so long since our last adjustment I started to notice a slight gap in my daughters teeth so we had to get it done. When we got to the building it was empty, the elevator that is usually packed had the social distancing stickers on the floor but no one was inside, probably due to the fact that most offices in the building hasn't reopened yet. When we arrived at the office I tried opening the door but it was locked then the receptionist, wearing all the proper PPE, came over and told us to scan a QR code on the door for a health questionnaire and covid consent form. The forms were quick and simple to fill out and once completed it was transmitted to the front desk electronically. We were then temperature checked with a contactless thermometer and sprayed with disinfectant on our hands. She let us into the waiting area where social distancing signs were everywhere. The receptionist seated us promptly and my daughter was called in right away. Parents aren't allowed into the treatment area anymore so I just waited outside. Dr. Lai took care of my daughter quickly and came out to talk to me. She was in full PPE gear as well, knowing how busy she must have been she still took the time to update me about my daughter and reminded me about her rubber bands. After my visit to the office all my fears were put to rest. The care they took into making sure patients and family were screened before entering and their adherence to the social distancing guidelines made my daughter and I feel more at ease. Everyone is required to wear masks when entering the office and sneeze guards were all put in place to protect the receptionist. Every employee I saw had face masks, face shields, hair covering, and scrubs on. If you're hesitant about visiting Dr. Lai's office because of Covid 19, don't be. They've taken every precaution to make sure everyone stays safe. Make sure you call for an appointment so they can schedule you in accordingly. I can't say enough good things about the staff and Dr. Lai. I trust her with my kids because she puts such care into making sure everything is perfect. Stay safe everyone! Addon: I didn't mention anything about pricing because I think it varies with each person on how easy or difficult it is to treat. But on average they're comparable if not a little cheaper than others. But for my kids I would prefer better quality of service and satisfaction with final results than to save a few dollars.

    Excellent job!!

In every visit, he was rude, scary, and berated me for every mistake I made to the point I was scared and nervous every time I visited. There was one time my parents made an appointment to have my braces tightened but didn't tell me and we had gone out with some relatives to eat dim sum, we didn't have time for us to go back home and brush my teeth, but thankfully the receptionist gave me a tooth brush and I did my best. Unfortunately that wasn't enough and as Dr. Huang was cleaning my teeth, he was so angry that I started crying and he called my parents to his office to scold them. I was too young to remember what was said, but I remember my parents just accepting it because to them he was a professional that knew more than we did, so he must have been right. I remember the day he finally took off my braces and I was free from him, he scrapped off so much of my front teeth in the process that they became thin and brittle. To this day, my 2 front teeth are extremely fragile and have noticeable chipping, I've had to have multiple crowns, root canals, and an oral surgery performed on my teeth due to the condition of my teeth after I got braces. I've never had an issues with my teeth prior to getting braces. Ever since then, I get a lot of anxiety when I visit the dentist and whenever I do go to one, they always mention that whoever last dealt with my teeth did a bad job, so I could never trust anything a dentist says.

Even though the longest commute distance and one of the most expensive quotes, I chose Dr. Hu There are several reasons. First, he is post PhD of NYU. Plus my case is very complicated, since my upper and lower is not paralell. He need to use microimplant anchorage. He is the only doctor among the four who has many years experience of MIA. The last reason is he really cares about my result, instead of trying to pushing my process and finish patient asap. After three years treatment, I feel lucky to choose Dr. Hu. My bite improved a lot, and cheek and draw shape changed too. My husband did his orthodontics later with Dr. Hu as well and satisfied with his result too. Recommend him to everyone, he is the best orthodentist in NYC. One tip I have to give is draw and cheek shape change can not be garanted. You need to discuss with him. Also average waiting time in over 30 mins at weekends.

They're located in the same building as Arcadia Mall. They also have a location in Chinatown, Manhattan. They give you this appointments/payment card thing when you become a patient here. Do come early for your appointments, then you don't have to wait so long. Dr. Yon Lai has assistants. Most of the time, the assistants are the ones helping fix your braces and cleaning them. Though, I wouldn't recommend having the assistants fixing your braces. It feels to me that they don't have much experience at all. Don't expect to understand any of the terminology they use. After you take off your braces, they give you retainers. You have to pay for the retainers too.
