Take this review for what it's worth, because this is exactly the second kebab I've ever had in London. I'm not sure I even had a kebab from Newroz, technically, because I would call what I had a grilled chicken pita sandwich. I would also call it excellent.
In any case, this is the second time I have ordered from a kebab shop. There we go, that's more accurate.
The meat was three nice big pieces of chicken breast grilled on open flame and spiced/marinated very well. No rubber texture, not surprise bites of goopy gristle. The vegetables (shredded lettuce, cucumber, onion and tomato) were crisp and green and fresh and also plentiful.
The pita fresh and chewy and also crisped on the grill. No sauce, but luckily I had some greek yogurt in the fridge to slap on. Saved.
Open til midnight or 2am every night, which is delightful news that us Croydon peeps can get a decent bite late at night.
I feel compelled to add the caveat that this is three stars *for Croydon*. read more
