It has a variety of different therapies to help you. including nutritional appreciation like making cookies and cakes and such with my fav chef there Miss Mary. They have equine therapy where you can connect with majestic horses. I've been to the program 3 times. and the CC's each time taught me things and helped me become shameless of going treatment including CC Kayleigh Heather and Caroline from VA, and CC Alexis and Ana from California. The virginia CC's really showed how much they cared about us and help me feel better when I was struggling when I was struggling with purging/bulimia And empowered to love myself and not resort to bulimic tendencies and now I don't struggle with that at all. I handle my nausea like a boss and help myself with ginger tea. As well as CC Lisa and Lauren from my first visit! In My first visit they were always there to uplight me on the hard the first. Alexis and Ana from California empowered me to accept the help and to only remember what got you through the door and helped become a more mentally stable person. On my final visit to Newport, I even worked on a "re-discovery" which addressed multiple times at Newport. And even though, being there for up to three months was hard and I couldn't have asked for a loving caring Newport experience. The staff welcomed me with open arms. I was feeling anxious, depressed, hopeless, helpless. When I arrived the BHT team were always making sure well taken care of and feeling supported. The attending doctor evaluated me and made the necessary changes and by the first third of my stay I was feeling better than when I arrived. The nurses were fantastic, always checking on me. The supervisors made my stay feel comfortable and pleasant. What I appreciated the most was how attentive and responsive were the medical staff. They took very good care of me and I was able to learn the strategies I needed to function back at home. If you are considering D'Amore, I highly recommend their program."

Extremely disappointing experience with D'Amore Mental Health, especially for a facility that is…read moresupposed to help people seeking mental health treatment. My fiancé and I spent nearly two weeks communicating with D'Amore Mental Health, trying to get him admitted for residential treatment. From the very beginning, we were completely transparent about his medical history, including the fact that he has been prescribed Concerta for ADHD and has taken stimulant medication for approximately 10 years. At no point during our initial conversations did anyone indicate that this could prevent him from being accepted into their program. D'Amore instructed us to go through Kaiser to obtain a referral, which was an incredibly difficult, time-consuming, and emotionally exhausting process. We spent days making phone calls, navigating insurance obstacles, and advocating for the treatment he desperately needs. When we finally secured the referral, we felt an overwhelming sense of relief. We genuinely believed he was finally going to receive the help he had been actively seeking. Yesterday, we began the intake process with D'Amore and were told he could potentially be admitted as soon as 9 a.m. the following morning, pending medical and clinical approval. We were assured we would receive a call early this morning with an update. That call never came. After waiting anxiously all morning, we finally called around noon ourselves. We were told the psychiatrist had additional questions about his stimulant medication, specifically how long he had been taking it. My fiancé explained that he had been prescribed stimulants for 10 years and even expressed that he would be willing to discontinue them during treatment if necessary and medically appropriate. We were once again promised a callback. Once again, nobody called. At approximately 4 p.m., we had to reach out ourselves for an answer. Only then were we informed that D'Amore's medical team did not believe he should discontinue his prescribed stimulant medication, but they also would not accept him into treatment while taking it. So after nearly two weeks of communication, being directed through an extremely difficult insurance referral process, and being told he could potentially begin treatment the very next morning, we were ultimately turned away over a medication we had disclosed from the very beginning. I want to be clear: I understand that treatment facilities have medical criteria and that medication decisions must be made by qualified professionals. My frustration is not that they refused to make a medically inappropriate decision. My frustration is that this information was available to them from day one, yet nobody identified or communicated this potential barrier before we invested so much time, effort, and hope into their program. What makes this experience even more disappointing is how we were left afterward. We were offered no meaningful alternatives, no recommendations for other facilities, and no guidance on where someone with his treatment needs could turn. Their only suggestion was to contact Kaiser again, despite knowing how difficult that process had already been and that his Kaiser psychiatrist had previously declined our request for inpatient treatment. Seeking residential mental health treatment is not an easy decision. By the time someone reaches out to a facility like D'Amore, they may already be struggling tremendously. They are placing their trust in professionals to help them navigate an overwhelming and unfamiliar process. Instead, we spent nearly two weeks believing we were making progress toward getting him help, only to be turned away at the last minute and left to start over entirely on our own. The lack of proactive communication, transparency, follow-through, and assistance was incredibly disheartening. Having to repeatedly call a mental health treatment facility just to find out whether someone can be admitted the following morning is unacceptable, especially when that person is actively seeking help. We were genuinely hopeful about D'Amore and excited for my fiancé to begin treatment. That makes this experience all the more upsetting. I hope D'Amore takes this feedback seriously and reevaluates how it screens prospective patients, communicates potential admission barriers, and supports people when its program is not an appropriate fit. People who are actively trying to get mental health treatment deserve clear communication, compassion, and guidance--not nearly two weeks of false hope followed by silence and a dead end.

Without going too far into it I will say if you want to read a review check out the sherman oaks location for my honest review. Long story short....43, been an addict since I was 15......weed and drinking....and whatever else came my way. If you are serious and want to get clean, and I mean really have the desire, than this is the place to check out. 6 months not being an alcoholic and 4 months or so without weed. They understood the struggles I was going through. And I was not perfect the first year, but I didn't give up. It's not like AA or any of that garbage. While it might work for some people...it always made me feel discouraged being that I didn't believe everything the big book had to say.... Twin town does things their own way and keeps it simple. So I hope this one is still around. Just don't know why all the negative reviews - as most if not all people in my group seem to be doing better than any time in their lives.. sure there will always be people upset that things didn't go how they wanted with the business side..but if you have that together, Twin town is only here to help us.

Kendra and Doctor Grover are so much more than medical support, your check ins with Dr. Grover are like a session with a guru. The director, Dan, is the wise yoda/Buddah at Silver linings, he gets pulled in a 1000 directions all day, but is always available to help ground or center the energy and provide whatever help or guidance you need. CK and Barmack are the two behind the scenes, but they're always serving others and offering themselves as a vessel to serve a higher purpose. My experience at Zen Recovery Path was life changing. It provided an environment and infrastructure…read morethat allowed me to shed my addictions and learn to trust myself. The staff is gentle and compassionate, the daily activities range from Qi Gong, music therapy, lessons in eastern medicine, art therapy and art processing, mens group/women's group, meditation and more. On top of that, you get private therapy, weekly massages (I highly recommend these as they are optional) and you can request EMDR therapy which helped me heal a whole range of traumas I had collected over a lifetime. I enjoyed Reiki sessions, occasional field trips to buddhist temples, art museums, and nature hikes, and enjoyed jamming in the barn on the piano (there are drums and guitars as well). They set you up in sober living as well, which is a great environment to make friends and get used to life without substance. It took a while for me to find the bliss, the first month was rough, as I was so anxious and stressed out without substances to escape reality. But as I learned to cope, I began to flourish. I have great respect for the staff, especially Mat, the CEO and founder, who is present daily and leads many great classes on a range of subjects. Some of my favorites were a review of "Game's People Play" and an in-depth look at Transactional Analysis, as well as exploring the "Hero's Journey". I was hesitant to go at first but after seeing my friend flourishing from his experience, I decided to give it a try. I planned on staying for 30 days but ended up enjoying a 4 month stay at Zen. I would recommend this place to friends, family, and anyone who wants to heal themselves from the self harm that comes with substance use. If you decide to go, be patient with yourself and the program for the first few days. It's very difficult to enter sobriety and to enter a new environment with strangers. Eventually you will begin to get to know people and you will get accustomed to how the program operates. Zen gives you breathing room, it can be laissez-faire at times, allowing you to keep your phone and offering freedom to explore the area. You are given consistent substance tests which keep you accountable. I hope anyone considering Zen will give it a try. I also suggest going the extra mile and taking advantage of the various extra services they offer. Good luck!

Any of my friends that tell me they are struggling I will be sending here. If you are shopping around for options, it doesn't get much better than this. FULL REVIEW: Wow. What a Godsend of a program. I really cannot believe how lucky I was to find this place when I did. I was in a pretty rough spot; I knew I needed to go back in for treatment and I felt hopeless because every rehab I was calling around to in OC no longer accepted my insurance (great stuff, America). Finally Akua comes up in my never-ending search. They are one of two rehabs left in OC that still take my insurance. Even still, I am hesitant to commit because the last place I was at ended up being a nightmare (terrible food, uncomfortable beds, a therapist that was incredibly dismissive and apathetic, staff forgetting to take people to important doctors meetings, the list goes on). I call Akua, they tell me that they have their groups focusing on trauma-processing, personalized therapy, emotional support, and they dabble in less traditional therapeutic practices like yoga, & sound baths. SOLD! Come get me NOW! I was in the substance abuse side. The groups were diverse, legitimately helpful, not all straight out of the AA book; a program where the intention was to dissect, understand, and get to the emotional root of why we as people can't seem to drink or use drugs like a normal person can, not just straight "drugs are bad don't do them" D.A.R.E. propaganda. This difference in approach was absolutely critical for someone like me. The house was clean, the food was great, like actually great not just rehab-great, they took us out on different outings, went to the movie theaters twice, barbecued every weekend, legitimately enjoyed myself, and made some friends I hope to keep for life. The staff was so lovely, I want to specifically give shoutouts to Amber (love you girl miss you!!!), Mel, Clarice (if you're reading this, I hope the lambs have stopped screaming), Justin, and Garret, I looked forward to hanging out with them everyday. They all work so so so hard, they've got a lot more daily tasks as day-time techs than I have seen at any other treatment center, and they still would find the time to get to know us and tolerate our buffoonery. If you're an insomniac like me, you'll get to meet the nighttime tech Holly, a total vibe & a hard worker who was helping keep the place nice and clean all on his own volition. My therapist Paul was fantastic. My case manager Robbie is the coolest guy and helped me to get into a sober-living house and set me up in a program where a non-profit would help pay 2/3 of my rent so long as I was in Akua's outpatient program, DEFINITELY take advantage of this yall. Now there's one extra specific detail I want to recount because it proves to me just how different this place is from other treatment centers. When I left residential, I was slated to go to a certain sober living I will not be naming, and when I showed up they had me do a UA test, and the detox medications were still showing up in my system (a very normal thing to happen). I am immediately accused by this man of being high, I try to tell him to talk to my case manager who will show him my lab test results proving that my numbers have been steadily going down since I detoxed. He basically refuses and tells me to kick rocks. I call my case manager in tears, and he immediately sends the head of IOP to come and grab me. Akua let me stay an extra two days in residential, completely out of their own pocket, while finding me another sober-living to move into. I could not believe it. Any other program would NEVER have gone to this length to ensure I was safe, especially since they are losing money doing this. I will never fully be able to express how grateful I am for this. I was in Akua's outpatient program for a total of 4 months. This program helped to establish some structure and routine within my life while getting reintroduced to society (gross) and planning next-steps career wise. Richard, the head of IOP, is incredible, I would sometimes skip out on my therapy sessions to make sure that I got to listen to his groups. Karen, Gabby, Jolene, and Q are all fantastic and very deeply-caring, they lead great groups as well. My case manager Candace is one of the most lovely people ever, and she always kept me in check and called me on my BS. I have run out of words Yelp will let me write, and I want to keep going! I love this program! Akua made me a better man!
