We have used the services of Cornerstone in the recent past. Our adult child went through the program that is provided by Cornerstone. We were highly impressed with the experience, professionalism, knowledge, compassion, understanding and care that was provided for our loved one. Disclaimer: I have not been here in years. I was 19 when I went and am 26 now. This is more of a vent because I haven't been recently enough to really review in an unbiased manner. My main complaint is Diane. If she is still there and you're a woman, I'd turn elsewhere. I was accused of stealing by a fellow client. I did not steal. Instead of maybe, I don't know, talking to me, there was a women's group held about me and my behavior. Every girl had a chance to bash me, but when someone stood up for me, they were told they were enabling me. I discharged myself. Now, I came back a couple months later because I didn't know there were better programs out there. They offered me a scholarship(which was amazing). However, once they needed a new bed, I was once again kicked out for "stealing." As a grown woman who has (god willing) a year of clean time next month and has no reason to lie, I put it on everything I love that I NEVER took a damn thing that wasn't mine. Well, I used someone's conditioner once. Also, there was blatant drug use. And they gave me a medication I had an allergic reaction to again because they thought I was having a panic attack the first time. EDIT: I read through the responses claiming that no one has died there. They have. Anyone knows that shit happens when you're working with addicts, but to blatantly LIE?? I am close friends with an employee there and I've heard of more than one death. One from a seizure and one from an OD. Guess it's still the same after all. Wow. read more

I've have unfortunately been to numerous rehabs weather or not I was ready then some times was anyway cornerstone has treated me with respect and the staff has gone out of their way multiple times to make sure I was taken care. They worked on issues that other treatmentvcenters say they will work on but never get to. There are so many great examples of how to live all round you. I was grateful to have landed there and I recommend anyone who is wanting to give it another go to calm this place up. Where do I begin. I came to this facility after a DUI and at a point in my life where I was at a low point. I was court mandated to six months in treatment and right out the gate I was treated differently from all of the other clients due to my legal status. From day one I was forced to be on an extremely high dose of suboxone after expressing my desire to be opiate free. Their medical staff is so out of touch with the drugs on the street that they think it would block the effects of fentanyl. All they did was get me hopelessly addicted to suboxone over the period of six months. When I was first entering the program and prior to even admitting I was told after the initial 30 days inpatient I would be able to find a job and work. This was another broken promise to me and never happened. In fact they made up their own rules that went against the legal portion of what I was dealing with. Although I graduated this program because I had to for my probation every day was absolutely miserable. I was forced to take narcotics against my will, not given any help in terms of my dual diagnosis. I was exposed to three different therapists while there and I waited a week to get the same five generic questions and if I answered them quickly then my therapy session was over. The psychiatrist within 5 mins of speaking to her wanted to take me off of a medication that saved me from serious depression and was working great for me and had come up with multiple new diagnosis that made no sense. I ended up having to fire her. To make it all worse, the groups besides our morning group with Dave were very dull and I cant tell you one thing I learned after 6 months of being there. The rules for the extended care are the most restrictive in the business with a curfew of 9 pm even for family birthdays and special occasions. During my stay there multiple clients were abusing drugs like meth and fentanyl and when I would bring it up to staff nothing would happen and my word was never taken seriously. Everyday was a new challenge while I was there. One day while I had a 103 fever I was forced to go into group and puke the entire time while being told that I was lying about it. At the end of my stay I kept pushing to have an exit plan to get into a sober living and they completely dropped the ball. I was given no resources, no doctor referrals nothing. They spent six months getting me fully addicted to a high dose of suboxone which is an opiate narcotic medication and on my last day they only gave me two days worth of medication and no doctor to continue my prescription with. Since my departure i have still not been able to find a suboxone doctor and now have to go into another detox for a week to get off of the horrible medication they kept me on. This is my second time here and the first time I decided the program wasnt right for me and they decided to withhold my wallet and phone from me for 72 hours leaving me with no choice but to steal food to stay alive. Now ten years later they dropped the ball again. I had a friend that died in their care and they deny that ever happening although I went to his funeral and even this last time I witnessed someone who died in their detox. The staff openly denied this as well. The worst part is that two times I was randomly called into the office and told they were going to kick me out because of a one sided story without even wanting to hear my side. They did this knowing me getting kicked out would be me going back to jail and they later admitted that it was because they liked the other party more than me. I can truly say I wasted six months of my life here and if I wasnt on disability it would have been the biggest waste of time in my life. Everything is a double standard and they let some clients date eachother because they dont cause any waves but if your a real person then be careful because they will treat you differently and make your stay a miserable one. One last thing they never spoke to my parents the whole time I was there even though I asked them too and when I asked why they tried to pin my family against me. There are so many better programs out there and my family and I are appalled in how I was basically abandoned once I finished my time then blindsided with a 5 thousand dollar bill after promising me it was all covered under my insurance. I guess thats why there's an open investigation for insurance fraud. read more

Spent 15 days at cornerstone and I was well taken care off. David P. was my caseworker and he helped me in so many ways. He understood that I own a business and he took the time to allow me use the phone to keep up on everything that needed to be done. I needed to get sober but I also needed to make sure I did not tank my business in the process, so David monitored me every day while I made sure things were good and if a problem arose he helped guide me through it. Also the nursing staff was the best, they all made me feel very comfortable and helped tremendously to get me back to good health . read more

PLEASE BEWARE!!! I wish I could give this company no stars what so ever because my experience there was so horrible, I landed in the psych hospital because of it. After my first week there they ran out of one of my medications, which I was totally cool with at the time because things happen, but after 3 days of no medication I started experiencing such bad withdraw symptoms that landed me in the hospital. I was shaking, crying, depressed, and even contemplated ending my life. I was so scared. ALL TO FIND OUT THEY HAD MY REFILL THERE THE WHOLE TIME! Someone made a terrible mistake and put my refills in another clients box, which led them to believe it never came at all. ZERO COMMUNICATION. After being in the hospital for 7 days, I came back to find a bunch of my personal property missing. I was willing to forgive them for the medication incident, but my missing belongings too? No way. Cornerstone promised they'd search for them and get them back for me, but I still decided to transfer to another facility instead of checking back in with them. I stayed in contact with one of staff members there, Taylor, and made sure to check in every day about my things, but they only found 2 out of the missing 20. I even made them an itemized list with pictures of the items next to each one to help, but nothing was found but 2. I decided to really advocate for myself, which I struggle with a lot, and vocalized that I would like to be reimbursed, but he told me that the director said I was responsible for my own belongings, NOT THEM. (Even though I went to the hospital because of them in the first place.) I don't currently have the money to buy new things, so I've been really struggling to replace what was lost, and even though they found those two items, they never sent them back to me. I've never in my life thought that I would need MORE treatment because of how a treatment center treated me, but it left me in a very vulnerable state. The facility I'm at now is completely disgusted with how Cornerstone behaved, so I was directed to call Jewish Family Services to file a report since they have a Patient Advocacy Program, and they recommended I call the police, which is my next step. Please please please, do NOT send your loved one here unless you want them to experience the similar treatment I did, and if you're personally looking to admit yourself, please find somewhere else that will give you the love and support you need. I would never wish upon anyone to experience what I did, especially during a time in your life where you deserve to be treated with respect. read more

I just finished my program at Cornerstone and do not have enough time or space to tell you about all of the wonderful people, activities, living space and accommodations that they provided me. From day one, Cornerstone made it a point to make me feel at home. They were able to get my medications promptly, in addition to talk with my family and sponsor when I needed to. We attended many panels with different speakers who spoke about different stories, went to AA & NA meetings outside of Cornerstone, and even meditated and went to a meeting that was very close to the ocean. One of the many things I learned at Cornerstone was that the people and situation were great, but you still have to want to be there in order to have a chance at the program succeeding. Everyone has a different program based on their needs which allows the individual the best chance at a staying sober. I feel like when I came to Cornerstone I had an empty tool box but when I left I had many tools that were ready to go in my chase for sobriety. One final thing I learned that I swear by is; " My worst day being sober is still better than either being high or drunk." read more

It's so funny for the owner to make comments about people not dying there. I know more than one person who has died in their care in 2023 alone. They carelessly put you on unnecessary medications. I have much to say about my experience here, but I'll try to keep it short. Dr. Stone is what makes CS, period. I've never had a doctor put in so much time helping stabilize my medication & getting me off the meds I no longer needed. (Dual diagnosis) He put A LOT of time & care into my case. Dr. Stone is a huge reason I'm sober today. He's sort of like that dad/grandpa you never want to disappoint. I have so much respect for this man & his family who help run the place. With that said, there's always a couple of staff members (in a treatment center) in which you don't mesh well with. Robert in extended care, just really seemed to enjoy pushing clients buttons. His constant negativity & passive aggressive behavior was mentally exhausting. Dean, my case manager in extended care, I absolutely adored for the first month or two. I felt so inspired by why he chose this line of work in the first place. (Which is a heartbreaking story). But then he got way too involved in my personal life & broke confidentiality on two separate occasions. He started asking OTHER clients one-on-one to give him information on me & told them it was "off the record." It was just weird & the only defense he had was "you're a cute girl, I just need you to stay away from male patients." Detox staff is absolutely incredible though, all of them. I'm missing Frank, John, Roberto especially. And of course Dr. Stone himself. I was able to keep Dr. Tanagho after leaving CS, which has worked out really well. She's an incredibly smart & caring woman & I look forward to seeing her each month! Overall it's what you make of it. The most crucial part of your treatment is having access to experienced Doctors who've spent decades working in substance abuse. And that's what CS has, that most treatment centers lack. read more

The employees at Cornerstone have no integrity what so ever. They will make promises/commitments and don't keep them. Communication between the staff is non-existent; miscommunication is rampant. Counselors will speak to you and tell the ranks something completely different. This was a terrible environment similar to being in jail. Very disrespectful and condescending management. read more

My experience at cornerstone was very comforting. It was only made better by my house manager, Titus Davis. He was the most positive guy with an uplifting personality like I've never seen before. He would encourage me and my roommates to work out and had one-on-one talks with us about maintaining sobriety and has this passion for AA like No one else here. I can only speak to Cornerstone's Detox program, but I am sure it is a reflection of all their recovery programs. The support provided by the staff and the extremely well designed daily program were both way more than I expected to experience in a detox. Way more. From discussions with others I think it's safe to say Cornerstone's Detox program is a better recovery model than many Rehabs. While I detoxed at Cornerstone I kept thinking that whoever licenses substance abuse detoxes needed to look at what Cornerstone is doing and require similar program models for any licensing requirements. The smoking, eating, and watching TV detox model isn't helpful for long term recovery. What Cornerstone does is a powerful springboard into the next steps addicts (including those who identify as alcoholics) must take for any hope of success with arresting active addiction. I would trust these people with the lives my wife and adult children if needed. Think about that. Leaving the best for last - Maria Carter is about as good as it gets. She goes way above and beyond to help everyone. read more

BEWARE! DO NOT TRUST YOUR LOVED ONES HERE! My sister went in for detox and rehab in 2017. The experience was just ok. She had an incompetent case manager Penny and there is no sort of evidenced based therapy - just classic 12 step and supervision. Through my interactions with Penny, I came to find out how many of the case workers have no formal training, or even undergraduate degrees - many are formerly recovered addicts who are just babysitting other addicts at the facility. My sister transitioned to their sober living which we found out she was able to somehow keep drinking while in sober living! She laughed about it later saying that there was some very old and out of it lady as her house manager who was easy to deceive. Her second round in sober living turned into her ending up leaving (and then quickly relapsing) because there was a rat infestation in the sober living home - unbelievable. Third round in their sober living (recently January 2019) - again my sister was able to game the system. She drank in front of us at Christmas and then went back to her sober living and was not kicked out or dealt with. They just wanted the rent money. All that aside, and over $25K later, my sister is worse than ever. My sister just went back to rehab and begged to go back to cornerstone because she felt "comfortable" there, as in able to game the system and find the short cuts. We found a much better experience at Experience Recovery where they actually offer therapeutic interventions to get to what underlies the addiction. The addiction is only part of the problem for many addicts - most of them have dual diagnosis, trauma history and deep psychological disturbance that underlies the addiction. (How many addicts do you know where the addiction to the substance is the only problem?!) Also, if you are considering going here for detox, or sending someone you love here for detox, do not believe a word of what they say when they are negotiating the rates. Do your homework, try to go somewhere that takes your insurance (call OC Links) and keep in mind they will try to keep people extra days for detox because that is where the profits are - big bucks keeping people here in detox. Once you sign the contract saying you'll pay a certain amount ($1K per day etc) and they tell you "Oh this is an easy case...we just need one day of detox", they keep them in there longer and under false pretenses. Also, read the reviews carefully and take note. Many of the good ones are fake - as evidenced by the lack of reviews by the Yelper and/or no genuine profile, picture etc. Extremely suspicious. Feel free to reach out if you want details. It is not fair to play with people's money or their hope when the vast majority of people in Cornerstone do not get better...and profits are put ahead of addicts. read more

I heavily drank after being furloughed from my job at the end of March. Waiting to go back, I sat at home bored every day and ended up drinking about 1 bottle of Tito's A DAY. After 2 trips to the ER trying to self detox, I came here. I was called back to work on Tuesday and wanted to get clean, so I checked myself in Friday. First, they took me in but didn't explain rules/schedules. My first night I had severe withdrawal symptoms and a panic attack and the night nurse took care of me, I'm grateful to whoever that was. But I was woken up at 8 am to have a zoom meeting with a doctor which I wasn't told about so that was really unexpected. Then they just start giving you meds, they tell you the name, but don't tell you what they are for. You have to ask. It wasn't until day 3 they told me I could refuse medication as well. They don't test you for Covid until day 2. They don't practice social distancing or force the patients to wear masks. Only the staff does. That's wrong. Most of the staff was kind/patient, and stopped to ask how we were doing, except one. Samantha was the most unapproachable staff member there. Never smiled/asked me how I was doing. Day 3 she told me I was moving from the Detox house to the Women's house because my Covid results hadn't come back. Makes NO sense. I asked someone else who said they were making room and that I was the most stable. THAT made more sense. She was maybe bitter because the first time she spoke to me, she asked me to change out of my shorts. It was a co-ed house and I get that, but I threw clothes in my bag and booked it over to get help. Sorry they weren't appropriate, but figure out the coed thing upfront if you think the men will hit on women, which they did anyways while the staff was out of sight. My next encounter with her, she comes into the women's house and we were taking a break from beading jewelry on the kitchen table and asks us to tidy it up. Why? Then asks about a mat on the floor going into the kitchen that had been there forever. How are we supposed to know? She just knit picked everything. The last thing I wanted trying to recover, and being with strangers, away from my family for the longest I'd ever been with no contact, was to feel uncomfortable but boy did she do it! One night they forgot our meds and we tried to radio to them. After 1 1/2 hours my house mate went over there and they said SHE should've radio'd to them. NOT her job and she tried several times. Anyway, when I first called to come here Friday night, they said they recommend leaving Wednesday but I was ok to leave Tuesday. By Monday I'm begging to go. I was stable and felt there was many more people who needed attention. They again, unexpectedly tell me I'm going with a group to now draw blood to test for Covid antibodies. WHY? I've been here for 4 days now! When we come back they say I'm getting discharged. I go to their Corp facility where I went over the IOP process. I come back ready to finally go home. I speak with my case manager at the house and after signing all the forms to go home she asks if I've been medically cleared. I hadn't and didn't know I had to. WHY DID I GO TO CORP AND GO THROUGH THE WHOLE IOP PROCESS? That should've been the FIRST thing they checked!! I have to stay another night. Come Tuesday there was an insurance issue that I didn't understand. Albeit this may have been more of the insurance's fault, but I was terrified because I felt I was being locked in a prison. I had to stay ANOTHER day or pay out of pocket because I wasn't medically cleared, and they'd have to report to my insurance. Unsure what those consequences would've been. I was promised a call to family Monday, it wasn't until the insurance incident that I got to speak with my mom. THANKFULLY she called my manager and I was ok to start back to work Wednesday. I discharged Wednesday morning at 7 and had to be at work by 9. I'm unsure if I'm going to continue with the IOP program after. I might find meetings elsewhere. Cornerstone did save me, I will say they took care of me for the most part. MOST of the staff is awesome, the zoom group meetings really helped the most, and being among those who are going through the same thing or worse really helps you cope. Venting to those who won't judge. But my rating is due to the lack of communication between the staff and patients, and the attitude of some. I felt like I wasn't being heard. I only felt at peace when I was venting with my house mates or on the zoom meetings. My rating is to hopefully grab the attention of this facility in order to help the patients still there. I have friends I made in there and I don't want them or new patients to continue to have a bad experience during their recovery. Please work on communication, and compassion to your patients. Please truly LISTEN to them. We aren't asking for much, just trying to get clean and live sober lives. That's what your paid to do and if you're passionate about it, act like it. read more

Clinical and support staff are incredible. A lot of family involvement in programming. Facilities are clean and safe, staff are very knowledgeable about insurance and referral requirements, and adapt quickly to constantly changing COVID protocols. The Cornerstone drivers and support staff deserve special mention for their enormous contributions to patient care - their efforts mean a lot more to clients than meets the eye. read more

You ask how? -This place only cares for your money and ALL support staff, nurses, and counselors will treat you like a homeless panhandler who is inconveniencing them when you ask a question or even help throughout the entire program (detox, Extended care, and IOP) - The counselors and staff who keep in contact with loved ones and insurance lie and manipulate your family behind the clients back in order to make it seem like you need multiple extensions or claim you're doing unsatisfactory in the program to MILK the insurance for as much money as possible. You could be doing great and participating and they would still claim otherwise. - Unlike other rehab programs, they do not print you out your progress paperwork that they send to the insurance which deems how much longer inpatient treatment necessary. After all the questions they ask and record, they do not want to show you the information they typed after you answered. - The food is absolutely atrocious and resembles the meals you receive in Jail (multiple individuals agreed on as well). Nasty Boxed food with barely any food and half cooked sides. * They act like they adhere to 'special diets' but they always "forget" and love to blame someone else no matter who you ask. There is barely anything to eat and don't even tell you when it arrives so you could even eat it potentially fresh - they do not like to help any individuals sign up for EDD disability or paid sick leave. When attempting to file a claim, you need a lot of information pertaining to the the facility , Doctor on sight who is essential to obtain disability, and the correct number to reach the correct staff member to vouch for the specific dates you enrolled and became partially hospitalized. It's really sad when ALL the employees and even certified staff want to sprint by you to avoid helping any clients who may need help with anything Recovery/personal necessities. - Their embarrassing lack of communication to the next working shift to make sure the correct medications are ordered and picked up. I personally saw an individual leave (ASA = against staff approval) because they were extremely careless and did not submit his order for a refill on his diabetes/blood pressure medication causing him to fall and feel completely ignored as if these medical issues can be put on a hold. Really sad - The living quarters are really unsanitary, the showers have mold growing on the roof and ceiling, the bottom corners of the floor are cracking and bare termite infested wood is showing, and the soap isn't stocked on multiple restroom trips. Really gross. No one wants to give you a new towel and change the sheets when a new client is moved in. I could continue in depth on all the negative, disgusting, and unprofessional acts committed by this 'business' because I could not define this place as a 'partial hospitalization Facility' sadly. Please look elsewhere. Even the CEO walks around ignoring clients with the ugliest smug hateful look on his face. Even when you graduate the program, they send some kind of bill to test you and see if you'll pay it even though you may have abided by all their rules and returned all their property. Do yourself a favor and do not waste any of your money or insurance claims on this sad depressing place. read more

I did a 60 day program here at Cornerstone and WOW, what a transition. I came in with my doubts about the industry, very concerned about the cost, but I can assure you it was well worth the money and the best thing I've ever done for myself. I learned so much about myself while I was a client, certain character defects that were keeping me in my addiction and holding me back from any substantial growth in many aspects of my life. I was so blessed to have such an incredible case manager while I was attending treatment. Darlene was there for me through thick and thin. She answered my questions, gave me advice whenever she could, assessed my progress as a client, and took care of all communication with my insurance provider. She rocks! As for the rest of the staff, they are all trained professionals and great at what they do. They're not there to be your friend, but rather to help you achieve your goal. They are all highly educated on matters pertaining to addiction, interpersonal issues, relapse prevention, and much much more. I would highly recommend this treatment facility to anyone who has struggled with alcohol or substance abuse. It changed me and my entire outlook on life. read more

Cornerstone is a great well rounded rehab program. I entered this facility with alcohol issues and legal issues and they were able to assist in both. Maria from detox was amazing she immediately makes you feel at ease. Mike another counselor at detox has great groups and is pretty funny. Simon was able to help me deal with all my legal issues he even showed up to every appearance I had and saved me more than 3 years in custody. Every level of care was helpful I completed detox, residential, extended care, IOP and MRP. Due to this place I am still currently sober I have 18 months. My life has been put back on track. They not only cared about me but my family as well. If you're serious about getting help this is the place to go. Thank you to all the staff that helped me during my stay there. Cornerstone truly saved my life! This was my first time going into a substance abuse rehab after a lifetime of struggling with addiction. I was a client at Cornerstone from April to the end of July this year. I completed detox, a 30 day residential program, and 2 months of MRP (modified residential program). While at detox the doctor, nurses and staff try to make the experience as comfortable as possible. You're seen daily by the doctor who makes sure you're receiving the correct meds/medical treatment to comfortably and safely detox. All meals are catered and delicious, not to mention plenty of snacks always available! During the 30 day residential program everyday is structured and can be a bit repetitive, but after living a life of chaos in active addiction structure is extremely important. Even with that being said there is enough freedom to not feel trapped or completely isolated from real life. MRP was a great transition to getting started living a sober lifestyle and integrating the tools learned in the program. You still live at a Cornerstone sober living home, can return to work or volunteer but still attend class in the evening Monday through Friday. Cornerstone gave me a safe place to become clean and sober while introducing me to AA and NA, no place is perfect but all the staff in all departments have their hearts in the right place and only what the best for their clients. They have a good detox program and a decent residential program. The issue I had was with the therapy department which was non existent when inpatient. If you can get Maria as your case manager then you are lucky because she's awesome. Outpatient is structured well but again I didn't receive the therapy I needed and was really wanting. They are good about appointments and getting you to the places you need to go to. I advise advocating for yourself to ensure you get a good case manager and therapist in outpatient. Nursing is understaffed in the evening and so when admissions are happening which they do mostly after 5:00 it can be hard to find a nurse. Swing shift should really have 2 nurses at all times. The nurses they have their are good but I had to really advocate for myself to get my meds delivered and it was frustrating at times. Some of the BHT's are wonderful and some need some training to understand they are working with mental health populations and and to be a little more professional with this clientele. read more

It is with great pleasure that I highly recommend Cornerstone to anyone looking for a rehab facility that really cares. After several rehab attempts since 2013 my daughter Lauren is finally really getting well! My daughter fell into depression and drugs after the loss of both her brothers to the same disease. The boys both died at the age of 24 two years apart. My daughter has overdosed several times, had seizures and has had two bouts with necrotizing fasciitis. { the flesh eating disease}. The last time she had this she lost a third of her buttocks cheek and was attached to a wound vac machine for two months . At this time she also was septic, was in complete organ failure, had endocarditis and a blood clot on her heart. She was not expected to survive. The dr's in the CICU unit told me that 85% of people in her condition, who come to this unit and survive are dead within 6 months if they return to the streets. As she was attached to the machine no rehab facility would accept her. My only recourse was to use my meager retirement money to put her in the only place that would accept her at the price of $50,000. After three months in that facility she went right back to using. It was then that she went to Cornerstone in Tustin. For the first time ever she wants to work the program! They have a superb staff of professionals . As good or better than the high priced rehab facility that she was recently discharged from.She is excited about life and recovery!!! She is surrounded by the the kindest, most loving group of people I have ever met! Had they been in our own family they couldn't have cared more for Lauren and all of their residents. Cornerstone is an answer to prayer. I will be eternally grateful to the wonderful group of people that work there! read more
