Tried to steal my $700 deposit without starting the work over 1 year later. I had to resort to a District Justice to get my money back.

Being out of state, we used Yelp and read good things. Pricing wise, they were not the cheapest, but there is a reason. FireTec was super communicative on what we are to expect, and super responsive to questions. They called to confirm the day of appointment, and showed up on time, masks on, shoe covers, and armful of floor pads and coverings (more on this later. The tech came and was friendly, respectful of the COVID situation, and careful with our home. Every fireplace they worked on was meticulously prepared and protected to ensure no damage or dirt would get on our floor. During the visit, they even updated me on findings as they went along and also how they were going to charge me less than estimated as certain chimneys did not require the level of inspection requested or originally thought to be needed. At the end, 3 of our gas inserts needed new control modules as the batteries leaked and damaged the units. They showed me the issue and again were transparent on what was needed. Now, I could leave the review as is, but this is what going above call of service means. The tech, bothered with a small finding in the video inspection, called me back after he left asking if he could come back and recheck one of our chimney. I am glad he did, as he discovered that one of our fireplaces was blocked off by previous owner, and it was not safe to be used. Being a father with 2 kids in the house, this is the kind of service expected. FireTec ordered the new gas inserts control modules and called me much earlier than the scheduled appointment asking if I was available to get the gas inserts fixed with the new control modules. Apparently their tech was freed up and available. Fast forward, our fireplaces are clean, inspected for safety, and gas inserts working as expected. And as if that wasn't enough, they send a thank you card. This is how you are customer centric. It's hard, but not impossible!

After setting up having trouble keeping the pilot lit so called store which directed me to manufacture which directed me back to store whom I have called 3 times being told they would check with tech and call back..... still no call back! Called for Frank again today who was busy with customer and was told again he would call back... STILL WAITING! Bottom line, I should have listened when other dealers said service at Fireplace and Patioplace is poor. I can assure you that it is! Please don't don't be impatient like me- order through smaller owner/ operator dealer! **The owner of the store contacted me to resolve the problem after posting my last review. Marci scheduled for a service crew to come out quickly and diagnose the problem, which ended up being a faulty burner. The crew replaced the burner and everything worked as it should. The charge for the visit cost me another $200 but Marci considered it an install fee and implemented the 5 year parts/service warranty which wasn't available when I installed myself. All in all, I'm ok with this charge because of the warranty. My hope is that this experience will result in a positive outcome for Marci's stores, where in the future employees are more accountable for following up on calls from customers to more promptly try to resolve any questions or issues. Regis and his team at Master Remodelers did two extensive projects for us. When I first contacted…read morethem, I was unprepared for their requirement of payment for a project proposal. Their comprehensive in-house design and build approach was unlike that of other contractors, and their cooperative communication was instrumental in developing and meeting our expectations. They made understanding us and our house equal priorities. They educated us about the condition of the house, brought in an engineer, and designed projects around improving and reinforcing the house. They found and corrected issues created by the house's original builder. They work well coordinating their work with other contractors. With one exception, there were no call-backs. A minor installation error discovered years later was cheerfully and promptly fixed as a warranty item, a reflection on their commitment to their clients. When it came time to sell the house, the quality of their work was a strong draw for the buyers. It drew a crowd. They exemplify how a great team can accomplish great results!

They originally reached out to me asking to take it down. When I refused to do so because I believe that my review reflects my family's experience, the messages kept on coming. At first, she said I shouldn't leave a bad review because I have never dealt with a death in my family (not true & not sure how that is relevant). Then she accused me of writing my review to punish the company and for no other reason. My response was: "Let's be VERY clear here. I'm not "punishing your company". I'm leaving a review of our experience on a site that is meant to leave reviews of people's experiences with different companies. If all owners tried to bully patrons into only leaving good reviews on Yelp... well there would no longer be a Yelp. I'm leaving honest feedback on how it felt to deal with your company. I'm sorry that you don't agree with our assessment, but it's truly how it felt. I'm very glad that we parted ways when we did so that we could work with someone that was much more pleasant to deal with." And she responded back with: "And you reaffirmed ours that "you're not our customer." Because our customers have class." I just wanted everyone to know how this company operates behind the scenes...

I had a vent-less gas fireplace installed over two years ago & I just wanted to remark that it's been very good. I began the process before I moved to the PGH area by searching for such a company. I put in an offer on a house & knew I wanted a fireplace, if it was feasible to do. I called weeks in advance & set-up an appointment for a site inspection. They were very nice in accommodating my scheduled time in PGH as I was also having other estimates done in a short time span for carpet, HVAC work & a radon gas eliminator. Anyway, the technician determined they could do it & made his notes. Back in VA, I re-called & told them a date I needed for installation during my next trip up to coincide with the closing. Again, they were very accommodating to my schedule. I also had to decide what I wanted without ever setting foot in one of their shops. They directed me to their website where I could see the options. It was a bit more involved than I had anticipated, but it was nice to have different styles & finishes available to select from. As scheduled, they came the day before the carpet installers. A plumber ran a gas line to the back of the connection juncture & the installers put in the hearth, mantle & fireplace. They gave me a quick tutorial on using the remote controller I selected. Everything went well & has pretty much ever since. One note - the remote system uses a lot of batteries; 8 AA in the unit & 3 AAA in the remote & they need replaced more often than I anticipated. But it is nice to be able to control it like a TV, from your chair.
