In saying that, all the ingredients are served fresh to order and you can tell Chef Mike is for real. There's nothing plain Jane about the menu. The dishes are original and the classics are home runs. We had the chefs creation special and were blown away. My wife's Spicy Cajun chicken pasta was superb and my seafood fettuccine was loaded with seafood, fresh asparagus, red pepper in a rich cream sauce. You have to eat here! The golf course is immaculate and a paradise for any golf enthusiast. The staff are super friendly and Mellissa makes the best (2nd to none) strawberry daiquiri or Mojito or Margarita you will ever taste. I would 100% recommend Six Foot Bay.

To wit: the fish tacos hold their own against the hippest LA joints and even Asheville's White Duck Taco Truck. I had the pleasure of speaking with Michael, one of the chefs, and he said that they make all of their mayonnaise and sauces on the spot. It shows: the Caesar salad is perfect. You know those places where you get a massive, gross plate of salad for $15? Yup, lots of those places around. Now imagine that the massive salad is also great and that's what you get at 6 Foot Bay. Surprisingly delicious in a beautiful setting, this is my favorite place to eat for 40 miles in any direction.

The guy working the club house said it was in the best condition of all the area courses, and he was not kidding. He also said "in general, don't miss right" which was also partially true... but really, he could have just said "don't miss" and it would have been just as palpable. The course is not very long for the most part, but is well protected by hazards. These manifest as natural reeded marsh, ponds and creeks, large pot bunkers, and just general woods. Accuracy is at a premium over distance, I think I only hit driver off the tee three times, opting instead for 3 wood or 3i hybrid in the majority of cases. The greens were immaculate, true rolls and good speed. In general, the course was very well maintained, the staff kind, bathroom breaks convenient and clean, and the drink cart girl showing up right when you needed her services! The starter let us go as a twosome without having to wait and be paired up, yay! We also hit a small bag of balls on the practice range before the round, and found it to be in good shape as well. We would absolutely play this gem of a golf course again.

The only redeeming part of the Briers was the spa until a few years ago, now it is just as bad. My grandson has on two occasions bought me gift certificates for the spa. Every time I called to make an appointment (on at least for different occasions) they did not have the staff to accommodate my request to have a massage and facial on the same day. Their inability to keep staff made my request fir the same day service impossible. After the fourth phone call I requested that they refund the amount of the gift certificates, which the former manager agreed to but failed to follow through. Now they are refusing to honor their former managers promise stating that I can use the gift certificates for food or to stay there. NO I will not do either. I honestly am thinking that I will give these certificates to homeless people as they do need a place to sleep and eat and that's about all the Briers is good for. I repeat do not even visit this place.

Stained toilet in the room, shower squealed, headboard not attached to the bed frame. Rotting wood around the windows. Peeling paint. Dead bugs around a lamp that were never cleaned up the entire time I was there. Old and dated furniture. Outdoor pool not open. Not accessible for people with physical disabilities. Lots of stairs. Food was average but overpriced. Indoor pool was cold and the showers were not clean in the pool area. Too bad. I was so looking forward to my stay and I was disappointed.

As a result of being a…read morebig fish in a microscopic pond, the staff are generally pretty high on their horses and seem to think that they work at Glen Abbey. The course is 45 holes, which might make you wonder whether Orillia's population could possibly support that many holes. The answer appears to be that it can't, as it's almost always dead. You can get a tee time in the middle of summer at 10 am on a Saturday by calling the day before if you are so inclined. They have an 18 hole course called "Meadow-Nest", another 18 called "Timber-Ridge" and a par 3 called "Hawk's Island". The Timber-Ridge is terrible. The Timber portion could be nice but it is always soaking wet so the grass doesn't grow properly and the Ridge aspect is just really boring. Everyone knows that Timber-Ridge sucks so they are constantly offering deals like $45 for 18 and a cart, while Meadow-Nest would cost more like $80 for the same thing. The par 3, like any par 3, is a waste of your time. The Meadow-Nest is really quite nice. The Meadow portion is pretty long and fairly open, while the Nest is more treed and shorter. The entire course has a creek running back and forth that makes it more difficult than it would be otherwise. The driving range is also really good. It has real grass to hit from, instead of mats, and it is deep and wide so there is no need for netting or anything. They also serve good food and have a lot of options with a gazeebo at the turn, a small restaurant that includes a nice patio and a large space that usually hosts weddings and things of that nature.

The course conditions on all three layouts have vastly improved over the last 5 years. The staff…read moreare always friendly and helpful. The price for a round of golf at a golf course of this calibre is hard to match. Hawk Ridge, no matter which course you play, is certainly worth your time if you are in the area.
