The domes inside was significantly warmer, they also have a heater and will bring you a heated blanket. Lunch menu includes kids meal with paying adult which is nice. My hubby got gumbo and I got the braised short ribs. Both meal was great, a little on the saltier side. The kids had corn dog and Mac and cheese bites with fries, I also ordered their special hot chocolate for them. The service was great and we all really enjoyed the experience here. It's a quick golf course at a convenient location. Out of the few times I've played in the last year, we never were ever put with another group. It's a decent course made up of entirely Par 3's. However, you'll need all your clubs in this course especially if you're not a long-distance hitter. A couple of holes are questionably Par 4. Bonus: There is a netted area to drive your balls and also pitching and putting area for practice. For a noob like myself, this course can be a tad frustrating. There's such a narrow fairway with tall plant growth on the side right on the first hole. So if you're using the first hole to warm up and miss to the right, say bye-bye to your ball.

First time on the golf course this season and by noon when we were there, all the golf carts were taken, so I had to walk it. The smaller par 3 course barely had anyone there but maybe because it's so damn hot. By the 18th hole I was dying from the heat. We did take a lunch break in the clubhouse in between and caught a bit of the soccer game going on before repeating the 9 holes to finish 18. We ordered the fish tacos and Cobb salad. I didn't catch that then but I just noticed from pics last year we ordered fish tacos too and this year they gave us 2 instead of 3 tacos last year! And still listed for $24.... what a steep decline in value. I generally felt the prices are a bit higher than last year too, like $3.50 for a tiny cheap ice cream sandwich that's from a box you'll find at grocery stores... No worthwhile desserts at this spot. I think having a good cold dessert would be great coming out from a sunny day at the golf course. Missed opportunity there. The Cobb salad was fresh but I should've asked for dressing on the side. Service is great thought, server was always there checking and making sure we're taken care of. Well the plus is I notice this time that there is a sunscreen dispenser inside the washrooms, very much needed! Washrooms and change rooms are clean and as a female, it seems I always get the washroom, showers and lockers to myself. Barely any females at the course.

Cherry Downs Golf and Country Club has been around for a very long time, notoriously known for…read moreridiculously fast greens. Once private, it is now a public course under the ClubLink umbrella. There are LOTS of mature trees, creeks, and ponds, waiting to swallow your ball. Changes in elevation make club selection crucial. Hitting your approach shot past the hole could make your next shot very tricky. Don't let the Par 71, 6,026 yards fool you. All of these factors can bite you before you know it. On this occasion, I was co-hosting a small golf tournament (28 players), with dinner following in the restaurant. The weather was near-perfect, with just a little cloud cover to prevent us from getting burned. Despite a minor hiccup with registration at the beginning, the staff were very friendly and helpful. We got everything sorted out to everybody's satisfaction. Our starter, Michael, was great at pacing us off the first tee and giving everybody, especially first-timers, tips on where they should be aiming. Marshals checked with us several times during the round. After seeing the scores at the end of the round, it appears that not many people took Michael's advice. The scores were abnormally high, even from the players that have been here before. After golf, we had a nice BBQ dinner on the patio overlooking the 18th green. The menu included crudite, salads, burgers, sausages, and desserts. There was more than enough food for everybody and it tasted pretty good. I had arrived early, before the tournament, to have breakfast with my co-host and another friend. The breakfast portions are quite generous and the meals were prepared well. I'll be back (even if it's just to find all the balls I left out there)...

I couldn't tell you when I was last at the Markham Fair. Maybe since I moved up to Markham with my parents many moons ago? This year, I visited the Canadian National Exhibition (The Ex) after a sixteen-year drought. My last Markham Fair visit was definitely longer. A Yelp giveaway helped me get back to enjoying a fair in my neck of the woods. I visited two fairs in just over a month. It's insane to me. Last year, it was Canada's Wonderland. It only took me eight years there... haha! I drove north up McCowan Road. I got a helpful sign saying that I needed to turn right on Elgin Mills Road East. Staff were great guiding me to a grassy field to park. I then walked over to the main entrance, which wasn't all that far. I will say that exiting wasn't as straightforward from the field. I had to merge into entrance vehicle traffic. I asked a male staffer if he knew where the exit was. He said that this entrance was the exit. When it's the regular fairgrounds, perhaps that's true. It wasn't the case. I got a knowledgeable male staffer further east who said to turn left (north), and then do two right turns to exit. He helped me exit the fairgrounds safely. At the gates, I got my ticket's QR code scanned to enter the fair. Easy peasy! I like the Markham Fair. It's fun. It's smaller than The Ex. It's kind of in my backyard as a Markhamite. There were a lot of food and drink vendors. I had lunch before coming here, so I didn't get a ton of food. I left with cookies and muffins from Blue Eyes Bakery, which is roughly a twenty-minute drive from the Markham Fairgrounds. I'll need to drop by this bakery because all its sourdough bread had sold out. I saw a lot: - Sheep at the Livestock Barn - Rabbits and chickens at the Poultry Building - Drummers drumming - Musical performances at the Entertainment Tent - The midway featuring the ferris wheel - Maple syrup demo - Krusher BMX stunt show - Firetruck fun checking it out I'm probably missing a lot here. There is so much to see in a day! I watched the last Krusher BMX stunt show on Saturday at 4-ish pm. It was awesome! It's cool checking out something new. There were a lot of vendors. From permanent jewellery to crocheted ducks, there's something for everyone. I didn't stay to see the fireworks. I knew that things would get busy. I left at around 7 pm and the lineup of vehicles getting into this fair was insane. Getting here at around 3:30 pm on a Saturday was perfect. The weather was sunny. The caged animal exhibits were a highlight, especially the rabbits and chickens. The weather was a little cool, but thankfully sunny, and we had so much fun watching the trucks and the dog show. It was a wonderful family experience, and we're already excited to come back next year. Definitely a great first visit to the Markham Fair!

Never thought I would be a repeat customer at a trampoline park but now, I cannot even count the…read morenumber of times we have visited the Flying Squirrel Whitby. So much fun, very organized and the space is huge! Although the space is broken up into a few sections (basketball, balance beam, foam pit, etc), the main trampoline area is open with no mesh barriers. This allows you to have a perfect view of your little ones from the perimeter. Parents are welcome to join as the this park is open to all ages but it's also nice to let the kids exert their energy while you conserve your own from a far :) . You are required to wear grip socks when jumping and they are available for purchase. They host several birthday parties daily but somehow it never feels overly crowded. There's always enough room to allow for a safe and fun experience. The staff are enthusiastic and I have seen them calmly address some minor injuries, quickly arriving to the scene with some ice. They recently made a change if you haven't visited the place in a while. They removed one of the two inflatable jumping areas and replaced it with something similar to the new Upla nets at Tree Top Trekking Parks. Lots of fun! Come once and you will definitely return.

At entrance, you MUST sign the computer waivers (to the LEFT)before paying at the front counter. You are also supposed to watch the safety video, which no one checks if you really have. This is a bit dangerous since I witnessed many people crossing trampoline squares while someone is bouncing. We bring our own non slip socks from taekwondo or other jump places and have never encountered a problem. I will remark Flying Squirrel socks are much nicer for grip pattern, style(army pink) and are longer to half up the calf muscle. The space is really large and so many neat areas to play. There are attendants at stations where there are height restrictions. Signs are posted everywhere but who reads these? Attendants also rotate stations which is smart, just like lifeguards. They all seemed nice when we have gone. They do not police strictly as many kids are doing gymnastics(flips, layouts, backhand springs) and little kids can run in the way. Lots of seating for parents, paid lockers at the front but most just drag around water bottles and backpacks. There's a small arcade at the front, 25 cents for ticket with some games requiring 9 tickets. Really like how they offer toddler pricing (up to 6 yr old) since these kiddos cannot do all the jumping stations. 90 mins is a good amount of time to sweat out their craziness.

Revisiting it for a friend's wedding as a proper adult (lol), I'm now able to say that it really is a "gem" in Markham, and I'm not just talking about its crystal fountain. With banquet halls, you really need to fulfill a few criteria: food, space, and service. No, you're likely not going to have a beautiful, lush outdoor environment as it'll be in some commercial area but you will have plenty of parking! No, it might not be extraordinarily unique, but you will know what to expect and it'll come at a more affordable price. Food: This is not the bland chicken I remember from prom. Or maybe my school was cheap. My married friend really decided to treat us that night with the lobster tail and roast beef combo. The lobster tail was very fresh and had great texture. The beef was soft and tender and the veggies were surprisingly flavourful. The variety at the dessert table was abundant with 4 cakes, a fruit platter, and a variety of smaller pastries. Things were quite tasty, though predictably on the sweeter side. The one thing about the table was that the lady attending to the cakes had no idea what kinda cakes she was serving, which was a bit odd. Space: We were in one of the smaller halls so we didn't get the headlining "Crystal Fountain" but it was a lovely space nonetheless! If there were other weddings happening at the same time, we wouldn't have known. The lobby was perfect for mingling, photos with the main couple, and pre-dinner drinks while the banquet hall itself was absolutely beautiful. I guess I never had an appreciation for these things before. High ceilings, gold chiavari chairs, elegant decor, wooden dance floor. Gorgeous. Service: Overall, not a problem! But there is one small incident. In my mind, staff at banquet halls should be the background performers. If you notice them as little as possible, that's a good thing. After the groom popped champagne and sprayed it around ceremoniously, a lady went and started wiping the floor...WHILE things were still happening on stage with the bride and groom. The photographers had to hurriedly tell her to stop and do it later. We used to make fun of places like this. Oh haha the food is always so bad at things like these blah blah blah. But that's just our stupid teenage "too cool for school" attitude getting in the way of reality. Crystal Fountain has been consistently delivering no matter the occasion. With all the events I've been to, there have never been any showstopping incidents, no horrible service experiences, no cold and flavourless plates.
