We were referred to Newborn MD by our pediatrician for our son's procedure. I was nervous (as to be expected) but knew we wanted the procedure done. From the scheduling process to the actual office visit, we had a fantastic experience. Nicole at the front desk was really responsive during the appointment setting process and was great at the appointment too. Dr. Witz walked us through the procedure and was great at helping me feel comfortable during the visit. We've taken both of our sons here, the first in 2020 and the second just last month. Both times we had great experiences. The office is clean and sterile yet comfortable. Dr. Witz and his nurse Nicole are wonderful, and helped to ease our nerves by chatting about our older son and the humor that comes with parenting. Our baby boy was born early and we went to see Dr. Witz for circumcision. Unfortunately, he was unable to perform the circumcision because our little guy was still too small at 8 weeks. He explained everything very well. And very detailed and explained to circumstances and consequences. Regardless, he referred us to surgeons he is connected with to get our little guy the circumcision done anyway- when he got a little older in age and in weight. We would use him again in the future. It's not often you get to rave about a circumcision... but let me tell you moms and dads, Dr. Witz is *the guy* in the Seattle area to come to - which are the exact words our OB used when recommending him. And she didn't lead us astray; Dr. Witz and his entire staff were fantastic from first phone call to follow up. Let's put something out there right away - Dr Witz does over 1500 circumcisions a year. And he doesn't work on Mondays. You do the math. If you're looking for a specialist who really knows what he's doing, it doesn't take Malcolm Gladwell to point out that this guy is an expert. But even beyond that, my partner and I couldn't get over how clear and comfortable they made the entire experience. Arranging was simple. An email was sent the day we made the appointment with all of the instructions on what to bring and what to fill out before we came. Nicole checked us in, gave us a full rundown of what to expect, and showed us to our own large private room that was far more comfortable and better decorated than our own nursery. Next Dr Witz came in and explained both the procedure and all the before and after care in detail. Our little dude went in and was back less than 10 minutes later (well, most of him was back), Nicole helped us again with a quick aftercare demo, and that was it! I was dreading it so much you'd think it was my own penis getting sliced, but our little guy didn't seem to mind outside of the fact that it interfered with meal time. (He is my son after all.) Dr Witz and his staff see a ton of patients every day, so my best advice to have as smooth of an experience as we had is to carefully read all of the instructions on what to bring and fill out before coming. I can imagine how annoying it would be for the staff to continually explain that no, they do not have extra diapers and no, they do not have extra antibiotic ointment, and no, they do not have baby tylenol... ad nauseam. read more

They took a lot of time to walk us through the pros and cons of circumcision (we'd done a lot of research beforehand and spoken to our pediatrician, but still had reservations), and they were incredibly thoughtful during and after the procedure. The procedure itself and the recovery were much easier on the baby (and us) than we expected. Dr Witz's office refuses to allow unvaccinated parents to accompany their son during the procedure in order to keep a sterile environment. However since unvaccinated people catch and transmit the virus just the same as vaccinated people this policy makes no sense and does nothing but discriminate against people who may already have natural immunity as my wife and I do or maybe have health concerns about getting the experimental Trump vaccine. They should instead be refusing all people if they really care so much about covid entering the procedure room. Dr. Witz's secretary Nicole informed us that because of our health decision that they don't agree with we would not be allowed to accompany our son during his circumcision. All I did was respectfully voice my opinion against the policy and Nicole cancelled my appointment and refunded my deposit without even telling me. After she finally told me the appointment had been cancelled I requested to make a new one, accepting the policies that I disagreed with, and Nicole told me to find another clinic. I have never been treated so poorly by a professional establishment in my life and to think I was about to let these people perform a surgery on my newborn son. I never spoke directly with Dr. Witz but I would absolutely recommend staying away from this place. We first heard about Dr. Witz because we were in an awful situation when my son had a circumcision that needed to be redone. Dr. Witz was recommended because he is the expert in Seattle when it comes to circumcisions. We were so glad we found him and knew that when we had another little boy that Newborn MD was the only place to go. The Dr. and staff have the whole process so fine tuned that I almost forget what we are there to do. It was also nice to see familiar faces at the office even when my last two kids are 6 years apart. Circumcision is often a taboo subject that no-one really talks about. Where I come from circumcision is uncommon. After much deliberation my husband and I decided to have our son circumcised for social reasons. The thought of someone cutting skin off our son, let alone our first born for social reasons was terrifying for me. As a mother I want to always prevent my child from pain. After much research and speaking with our son's pediatrician we decided to schedule the procedure with Dr Witz. It was reassuring to walk into the practice and not hear a screaming baby. They are very good at scheduling the appointments so that nervous parents like me aren't in the waiting room listening to the screams of little ones. Nicole (Nurse) and Dr Witz were both very calm, knowledgeable, reassuring and patient. They both took the time to answer our questions, explain everything to us about the procedure and after care. My husband observed the procedure to ensure our son was in the best hands. As i anxiously waited in the other room, I could hear the cry from our son. I learned after that his cry was not from the procedure rather it was just from being naked, which he still dislikes. Our son did not appear to be in any pain after the procedure and his circumcision healed up beautifully which we attribute to the excellent work at the hands of Dr Witz. I cannot express how amazing Dr. Witz and his staff are. I was a little nervous because of the bad reviews about the staff, but from the time I called with questions to the time we left our appointment I had nothing but a positive experience. Everyone was very friendly and helpful. During the procedure Dr Witz was so careful and explained everything as he was doing it. The nurse was so wonderful with our little boy and kept him calm the whole time. I love that I had ample opportunity to comfort and nurse him afterwards in a private room. Everything was clean, the place was easy to get to with plenty of parking, and afterwards we got a really cool diaper bag with our son's name on it :). We had two appointments with Dr. Witz, and we really felt confident in our decision to see him over the urologist at group health. He didn't rush us, answered all our questions, and even though he was not able to do a circumcision due to our sons anatomy, we were pleased that he was honest and didn't do it for it to become a botched circ! Office visits were a little pricey, but not a whole lot more than it would be somewhere else, we just hadn't met our deductible yet for the year so insurance didn't cover much if any. Dr Witz circumcized my boys, but for one of them, it is as if he is uncircumcised. Another urologist said that the amount of foreskin left was quite a lot so it is as if my child was uncircumcised since he would have to clean the area the same way as an uncircumcised person. The annoying part is I took my child back to Dr Witz to ask about the extra foreskin and he kept insisting that it was done correctly and would retract by itself. However the urologist said that may or may not happen since it was so much foreskin. I felt mislead about this and the urologist said my child would have to undergo another operation under general anesthesia to fix this. read more

Our insurance didn't cover my son's circumcision so I last minute and almost too late (the age cut off is 6 weeks old) called newborn md after reading great reviews from satisfied parents and I totally agree. Booked my son for the next day. Gave very clear instructions as to what to bring and what to expect and very friendly staff on the phone. Got to the appointment nervous and unsure what to expect, checked in immediately, no wait. Nurse and doctor made us feel very at ease and included us in the process so we understood what was going on. The doctor even made jokes and made us laugh and we felt no nervousness or tension as he did the procedure. I would 100% recommend to any parent looking to get their son circumcised. This place is clean, friendly, professional, courteous and all around great. We just had my son's 1 month check up the other day and same deal. Excellent service all around. read more

I am surprised that the only 2 reviews chosen to be posted are negative. My husband and I have had 3 boys all who were seen by Dr. Witz. We have been seeing Dr. Witz since he was at Swedish with our first son in 2008 and then when he went to private practice in 2009 we followed him to Mercer Island. His office manager/nurse has been with him since he was at Swedish and we find her to be kind, sincere, compassionate, knowledgeable and funny. All which are very important when you are dealing with newborn babies and parents and this particular procedure. This can be a very difficult decision for some families and they take time on the phone to go over all details of your upcoming visit including any and all questions you have before scheduling your son. We have had only positive experience with the office staff and find that Dr. Witz is very aware of all aspects of his practice. From our positive interactions with Dr. Witz and his nurse we have recommended over a dozen of our friends and co-workers to his practice all who have had wonderful experiences with his office. The office is a peaceful place for families choosing to do this procedure to come and receive excellent care and information. From the first time you step through the door you are greeted warmly, asked how your commute in was and then they go over the check in process which you are well prepped for in advance. The consultation rooms are large with changing tables, big leather arm chairs and bright warm natural light. We have had for lack of a better term a lovely positive experience all three times we have seen Dr. Witz and his staff. I would hands down recommend his office if you are looking for a expert in infant circumcision. Remember to call early, due to his popularity he sometimes books out 2 weeks in advance. read more

Like the previous reviewer, I too had a really horrible experience with the office staff, specifically with the office manager/billing assistant, so much so that I actually cancelled my son's circumcision...which was actually disappointing but I could not justify going somewhere that treated me that way. I felt bad for the MD because this really had nothing to do with him so I left a message asking him to call me on 2 separate occasions so he is aware of how his staff treats patients. I was told both times I would not be getting a call back from the MD, that he is aware of the situation and will not call back someone who is not an established patient. Who knows if the staff even relayed my message or how they misconstrued it. Again, I'm assuming he would not condone his staff to treat HIS patients this way (or is even aware of it) but I don't know for sure because I will not be receiving a call back, frustrating. I hope he sees this review as his staff is his patient's first experience with his clinic and directly impacts his business. I will be sharing my experience with my OBGYN's group as well as my Pediatrician's group (who actually referred me to his office). It's really a shame. read more

Dr. Witz came highly recommended by my Midwives and Pediatrician. They both said he does a beautiful job and he really does. We wish all of our sons had been circumcised by Dr. Witz. We have five children (three boys). Our first two sons were circumcised using the plastibell method and we did not have a pleasant experience!!
