It was a scam. We rode in one today. Maybe a mile from 42 St. to 31 St. The fee was $84 (7 x 12 minutes). And since it was raining, the guy said we had to pay double for two. We got into the argument. Then he showed us the price card. But the card sa he couldn't charge us more than $7 per minute. If he showed us before the ride, we would never do it. Lesson learned. We used a pedicab upon exiting a play in Manhattan for the 8 block ride back to our hotel. Quoted $4 per minute and "I ride fast". I knew we were being taken when he went an additional 6 blocks and made certain we waited at many a red light. Demanded $80+ dollars when we got to the hotel 22 minutes later. Denied "padding" the ride. Said his name was Ralph and from Turkey, each of which I doubt. As he was considerably bigger than me I paid $80 (conveniently parked away from the doorman around the corner). Another friend confirmed a $40+ ride for the same distance from the theater. After seeing Aladdin on Broadway my boyfriend and I took a pedicab to the Empire State Building and I felt like a princess! It was nice to cruise along the cars at night and see everything lit up while we snuggled. We were lost in our own world for the 10 minutes it took to arrive to our destination. I can't speak on the price, but it's per minute and it must have been expensive because my boyfriend refused to tell me how much it was lol. Overall, pedicabs are a nice experience and it's great to try something new at least just once. read more

I'm not going to lie. I'm a complete out of towner when it comes to New York. I had never, ever been in any city as long as this place at all. Sure, I've been to Indianapolis, I've drove through Chicago, and been to other places. I like to travel. But this service really takes the cake. Friendly, and engaging they really helped me be at ease on my trip, talking to me not just like a customer, but also as a person. They talked to me about a lot of the local hot spots in the city friendly to sight seers and tourists, some bit of news, where to avoid going, interesting Broadway plays that were playing, etc. Just really knowledgeable about things that put me at ease and made my trip less scary, and way more enjoyable. I enjoyed my time being shown the city that I just had to tip, because it just seemed they were so enjoying their job that it was infectious. Find a policeman and as for assistance to resolve the matter I sent this email to New York Pedicab Services and received no response and my credit card company, Citibank, just advised me I did not have enough facts to dispute even the unauthorized tip. Last Friday, 11-15-19, my wife and I were in the process of hailing a cab at Grand Central Terminal to take us to Penn Station (approximately 1 mile). A pedicab rolled up and offered his services. Never having taking this transportation and knowing we were only a short distance from Penn Station we agreed. The ride was about 20 minutes. We were presented with a charge of $153, or $156 and change (we were not provided a receipt). I protested the charge whereupon the driver produced a postcard sized document showing the rate was $6.99 per minute. I protested again but the driver told me to ask another pedicab driver regarding the rate. I chose not to ask another driver instead I signed his i-phone, (which showed a charge of $153 or $156 and change) knowing I would dispute the charge through my credit card company not on the street.
