We came there when it was about to rain so it was not sunny the entire time, it started pouring just as we were leaving.. which made for a super beautiful view of the sky, with sun rays shining through. There are TONS of bushes with different fruits there, which I did not expect.. and also a TON of glass in the sand which is horrible, so BE CAREFUL! There are also spiky plants in the sand as well that hurt if you step on them so at least wear slippers. If you come there with your bike, just know you will have to climb around to get to the beach area. Tons of people windsurfing there which was a pretty cool thing to watch, them being raised up into the air and falling into the water. The view is gorgeous there as well so I naturally had to take tons of photos. There generally ARE people there and you will see them pass by but you can find spots where you are out of view if you want to sunbathe there. Overall a nice little spot to stop by every once in a while while biking by the belt.

Every time I went back to the beach he had a few tips to give me about what I could do to improve. He also took the time to explain the proper way to launch, use the safety system, and help me think about what equipment to buy (I have a 12m, he suggested adding a smaller one 8-9m). Beyond my experience with Alexis, i found one kiter great. When I reached out to set up my lessons, Mario emailed me promptly and suggested multiple locations, helping me choose between them. He helps you think through any questions that you may have. Overall - I was very happy with my experience and highly recommend them.

I have prepaid for 4 hours of lessons, and Tim has failed to fulfill his side of the deal. He still owes me $300 and is unresponsive. We met at Rockaway Beach for an intro lesson which only lasted 1 hour due to poor wind conditions which was fair enough. He seemed like a nice guy and when he asked that I pre-pay for the next lesson I obliged. The lesson that was scheduled for the following week never happened. I tried several times to meet up with him again throughout the summer with no success. Numerous times, appointments were made and cancelled due to "lack of wind," or worse he simply did not show up (when there was wind!). After the third time I made my way out to Rockaway beach only to have Tim cancel on me last minute or go radio silent, I requested a refund. He never got back to me when he said he would and voicemails were left unanswered. I had to call him at least 4 - 5 times to get a response. The last straw was when he claimed to be at the beach checking out the conditions and told me he would get back to me. I took the A train out to Rockaway beach to at least get a few hours in, but it turned out he was lying. He never made it out to the beach that day. Following the refund request, a few half hearted attempts were made and eventually he ceased to return my phone calls or emails. A quick google search for "Tim Nugget" shows a history of similar cases. I.e. requesting sample kites and never returning them or paying for them. This should be fair warning of Tim's character and trustworthiness. Here is a link to a message board where someone seems to have tried to alert future customers. Thankfully they made it pretty easy. Except its a really sick workout. Sore but in a really good way, I forgot to bring water but they gave it to me. I was a little scared at first but it's actually not too bad if you pay attention to the trainer. Very cool. Next I'm learning to kite surf. Wish they taught that too.
