This place has lost a customer forever. Ordered my usual beef burrito; when my wife came home what I got was a loose pile of ground beef and lettuce in a take out box. Ok, mixups happen but who servers a burrito with no tortilla?! The worst part of this is that after I drove back to the restaurant and showed them, the guy dug his hand into the box and said here, there's beef in there. I had to specifically insist on a tortilla. BTW the menu clearly describes their burrito in a tortilla wrap. I got no explanation no apology, just a hastily made cold burrito tossed on the counter. On a long drive up into Canada, I was looking for a cheap place to stop and get good food. This was pretty much the only thing that showed up on Yelp. We all got burritos except our youngest, who was too picky. Everything we got was good and cooked to order, and you could tell the food ingredients were high quality. Pro tips: -Park around behind the building and use the entrance at the back which is right at the parking area -You order at the counter and then take the food and sit wherever you want. The Chicken Vera Cruz narrowly won out over the Chicken Club on my lunch today. A couple at the next table had split the un-wrapped Thai Chicken over jasmine rice. They raved about it. We got a curry Thai burrito which I was skeptical about since I wasn't sure how that combination would be but it was one of the most delicious burrito I have had! The flavors were Jam packed and tasted fresh! There are many different tortilla options you can chose from and I chose the curry tortilla flavor. With no real interior design or much color adorning the walls, don't even expect a menu on the wall. There's laminated one pagers listing out the options of wraps, salads, and quesadillas they offer. Staff here has always been rather surly, no big deal since the food was pretty good. But over the last 7 years or so, the food quality has gown steadily down hill along with the service. The staff seems to just choose when they are open or not, regardless of the hours posted on Google or their Facebook page. I've often called after 6pm and just had nobody pick up when they're supposed to be open til 7 (and I'm talking 6:25, not 6:50), or had someone ask me to hold only to never come back to the call. Terrible service and declining food quality have really turned me off of what was once one of my favorite spots in Burlington. I used to live near the original location of New World when it was in Essex Jct and ate there a lot in high school. The pine street location is much larger, but they haven't changed the menu much and the tortillas, if anything, have gotten better. If you like wraps, these are pretty tasty and excellent value. The freshness of the ingredients sang in each bite, and the shear size of the burritos was enough to cover me for both lunch and dinner. More than ten years later, and this place is still making out-of-this-world, delicious food. The Thai chicken peanut burrito is a marvel - so unique and unbelievably tasty, especially with that house-made hot sauce. Grab one of those and a beer, and you're set for the night. ADDICTION!!! I moved away years ago - but whenever I'm in town, this is the FIRST stop. Thai Chicken Wrap is a foodgasm. I get my protein, i get some veggies, i get a wicked good wrap. Remembered back in college how amazing this was. Went back to VT this summer, still the same - consistent. I ate there everyday. I will recommend eating it there - the wrap is the right texture when you eat it on the spot. If you take it with you - you're gambling that the wrap will get a little soft. I enjoy a crunch when I bite into it. Wish there was a New World out here. Making me hungry. The new location is awesome - plenty of parking in the back. New World is one of those places that every so often I will destroy my diet for. I haven't had anything I've disliked on the menu, but I usually gravitate toward the Thai chicken (as several other Yelpers have mentioned). It's a huge portion, but very delicious. The tortillas here are hand made, and not much like "wraps" you buy in the store. They're more substantial, less bland, and just better. That being said, I'd hate to know the calorie and carbohydrate content of them. The good news? Go with a friend, order two plates ("unwrapped" wraps) and get one tortilla to share. You'll have more than enough food, I'm sure. The Vera Cruz chicken is another favorite of mine, when I'm in the mood for something a bit spicier. It's pleasantly spicy, not stupidly hot. The cheese steak was the only thing on the menu I'd probably avoid. It wasn't bad, but it was definitely weak. The service is usually pretty quick, you just have to be listening for when they call your order. It gets busy at lunch though, so you may have to wait a few minutes. Last time, we kept seeing people who ordered after us get their food. Unfortunately it was the one time we were in a bit of a rush too. The decor is kind of strange. The tables and chairs all feel flimsy there. I actually prefer taking my food to go, rather than deal with a chair that feels like it's going to give out (and I am fairly small). They've also packed quite a few tables and chairs into the place so you'll probably hear your neighbors conversation if you're close to someone.
