Absolutely terrible and this drycleaner does not stand by their work. I went to this cleaner a couple of times, however the last time was the reason I will never go back. I had brought a silk throw pillow for repair as one of the seams was coming undone. I paid around 15 dollars for the repair and clean of the item. I picked it up with a few items (around a 150 bill total), however when I got home they had only sewed half the seam, and so the other half was still coming apart and ripped. I didnt even get the cover on the pillow before I noticed the damage. I returned and was told by the husband that "it was what I was saying" and I had no proof of what it looked like when I picked it up. I as told I should have checked it when I was paying, and if I wanted the other half of the seam done I would have to pay the full price a second time (it was the same seam.) I even explained I was not mad, or blaming and rather thought it was a fragile fabric, and had come in to see if it was even worth repairing further. That question was never answered as he just continued to blame me and deny there was proof that my story was true (which I could not understand as I was just there to pick it up, and it was clearly the same seam.) The discussion ended with me saying I wouldnt return, and him saying it was my choice. I asked if he was saying I was lying, and he indicated that I was. I was appalled as I did not go in there blaming them, and I have spent at least 300 plus there over the last 6 months (why would I lie about a 15 dollar repair, that is clearly their sewing work????) I was not upset in the least when I went back as I had blamed the fabric, but I certainly was when I left. Did not stand by their work at all, offer any guidance on repair, or comprimise in the least. Paid 15 dollars for nothing, and was a returning customer as I dryclean often but never will go back there again. I also note from other google reviews I wad not the first customer to be called a liar by them. Interesting, and that was before I had even asked them to do anything (was showing them the problem to see if it could be fixed.) I have complained to the BBB, and rncourage others to do the same, as reviews suggest this is a pattern rather than an isolated incident (and I am not the first ti be called liar when I questioned the work.) read more

This is a repost as I have NO idea why it was not recommended! I was very surprised to read the other negative reviews posted. I have been a loyal client for over 2 years and have only had great experiences! I am a busy professional executive and after moving to the south Burnaby area, I had a tough time finding a cleaners that lived up to my standards and expectations. After trying several cleaners in the area I was thrilled to find New West Cleaners as the prices were good and my clothes never looked cleaner! In fact, one of the owners Grace is a VERY talented tailor! I am EXTREMELY particular about the tailoring of my suits and other items and Grace by far exceeds my expectations! My advice, this is the only cleaners worth your while in the new west/south Burnaby area. read more

This is the first and last time I will use this cleaners. I brought in 12 shirts and a pair of pants. I specifically asked how much the charge for the shirts would be to the gentleman at the counter. He stated $3.75. He said some could be more. I asked which ones. He wasn't sure. So, I pick the shirts up today and was charged $7.00 for each shirt. Not sure why there are so many negative reviews for this awesome place, which motivated me to write a review. Had a pair of unique Lululemon pants hemmed here. I brought these pants back to lululemon which they refused to hem as the pant leg has a unique feature. Been to all the alterations stores in Metrotown mall and several other independent places which also refused. New West cleaners took on the task and said she can't make it exactly or any promises. I took an overcoat, with a zip-in hoody, in to get dry cleaned. First off, the cashier zipped the hoody and out and said " 1 coat, 1 vest " . I never had this happened before. I challenged her. I asked how much for coat only; she said $16; I asked how much for coat and hoody; she said $20. I reluctantly agreed.Went to pick it up. She retrieved the clothing. She gave me bill and said $20 for coat and $8 dollars for vest. I told her firmly that is not what we had agreed to when I took article in. I have been coming here for over a year because it's near by. So far, the work has been ok, until today. One week ago I brought in a dress which I had purchased online. The dress has an underlay and over top it has sheer lace. The underlay was too short and exposed my behind so it needed to be removed (the skirt portion) and a new underlay needed to be sewn on. I went to Fabricland and purchased the material. I took it to New West Cleaners and I explained to Grace, the seamstress, what I wanted and what my problem was. She quoted me $35 plus tax. I agreed. Today my mother picked up the dress for me and paid. She brought it over to me and when I tried it on I realized that the hem was uneven by 2 inches. One side was 13 inches in length and the other 15 inches. Basically my butt cheek was peeking on one side. I packed the dress and went over to Grace to show her. She gave me two options after trying to convince me that it was fine: A) hem the other side to be 13 inches as well B) add fabric to the shorter side to make it 15 inches I explained to her that if she hems it, it will be too short. Which defeats the purpose of why I brought it there. And to add fabric will look strange and ugly. I explained that I was very dissatisfied. She asked me what I wanted and I told her to either redo it (even though I would have to purchase fabric AGAIN) or to give me my money back since she didn't do the job correctly. She told me that she won't do it again because it takes too much time and only offered me half of my money back. I said no, that is not good enough because I have to repurchase fabric as well. She would not budge and she began to raise her voice, yell at me and speak over me!!! Great customer service right? It gets worse. She then tried to switch the story and say that I told her to hem it to 13 inches which a) makes no sense because it's too short and b) still doesn't change the fact that it's lopsided!!! She called me a LIAR! Then her husband joined in and started yelling saying that his wife was a professional and that I was "a bad guy" who "always complained". Both false, if I always complained and had issues I wouldn't be a repeat customer. At this point I was fed up with the whole scene. I told her to go ahead and keep my $35 even though she did not deserve it because she didn't do her job. I said if this is how she runs her business that I will never come back there again and I walked out! All she had to do was say you're right, I didn't do what you PAID me to do, how can I make this right? Everyone makes mistakes. If she took that loss to make it RIGHT I would have walked out of there thinking wow that was good customer service. This way I am absolutely appalled!!! I feel completely scammed and disgusted about what happened. They need to learn proper customer service and people skills. SAVE YOUR MONEY, TIME AND NERVES BY AVOIDING THIS PLACE. read more

HORRIBLE SERVICE, HARASSED BY STAFF, CLOTHES CAME BACK DAMAGED. AVOID THIS PLACE!!!! I went with my fiance to pick up his suit and white shirt that he is having tailored for our wedding in 2 weeks. First of all, the owner practically ignored us while talking on the phone. After about 5 minutes she greeted us with "What do you want?" Nice customer service... She immediately asked us to pay before suggesting my fiance TRY ON the clothes that were being altered. I have NEVER been to an alterations business that let me walk away without trying on what the clothing to ensure I was happy with it. I insisted my fiance try it on, and the owner looked annoyed. First thing we noticed was the white shirt had a huge stain right near the breast pocket that was certainly not there when my fiance brought it in. I was with him when he bought it and it did not have a stain, and he has not ever worn it. This, however, was not enough to convince the owners. They insisted that it was our fault, and when we suggested we use some water right there to see if the stain was set she refused saying, "We cannot do that here". Um, you own a drycleaning business... My fiance, being more forgiving than I, still paid for the suit alterations, but refused to pay for the shirt unless the stain came out. The owner's husband came in and finally agreed to try dry cleaning it. They were going to charge us for drycleaning, which I refused! And throughout this the woman literally slapped my fiance's hand away from the shirt, and pulled it out of my hands. At one point, after at least 15 minutes of arguing in English she says, "I don't speak English" and then said "You pay." Does she think we're idiots? As a business owner myself I cannot fathom how you could treat any customer this way. Take my advice and do not bring your clothes here! read more

Went to this cleaner multiple times to get an estimate on wool duvet cleaning. Checked with both owners at different times and was quoted $35. I finally took in my duvet and they come up with excuses that my duvet is different and charges me $45 to get it cleaned. I had asked multiple times for a wool duvet and every time was told $35. This is a scam business where they would quote a lower price then up charge people when they actually go through the time and effort to bring in their items. Is THEFT too strong a word? Probably not. My wife brought in a dress with a large stain on the shoulder. After charging her over $60.00 for the cleaning, they did not get the stain out but said they had worked on it. She did not receive a refund or discount for their failure. We recently brought the same dress to another cleaner. He charged half the price and successfully removed the stain although he was concerned that New West Cleaners may have set the stain with their chemicals. After his cleaning, the dress was perfect, just like brand new. When we picked up the dress he informed us that it was pretty clear THEY DID NOT EVEN WORK ON THE DRESS!! Considering contacting the police. Will likely step in there one last time to give them a piece of mind. Seems like a common thread in the comments about thievery. Enter this place at your own peril. Robert C I experienced the same Richard F. I brought my coat and hat for dry cleaning. I told the male owner, "no hurry". He said $10 for coat, and let's see for the small hat. A week later, I was being charged $24. The wife came out declaring, "I am the owner, he doesn't know the prices" I haggled $15 to $18. The female owner took my coat and hat and kept it inside. beyond furious! we dropped off 14 business shirts (male and female) and 2 pair of pants to be hemmed late last week. My husband picked it all up today and instead of the 45 odd dollars they quoted us in person he had to pay over 80!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ARE YOU KIDDING ME! Oh and the husband or whatever the guy is that works there told us we get a discount of 1 shirt per 10. They made him pay 6 dollars for each of my business shirts (because female business shirts are apparently so different to mens). They classify them as blazers - can someone please give this useless bunch a lesson on fashion standards. No words describe how utterly dodgy and distrustful this husband and wife is. Brought in my linen Jacket, and pointed out stains on the cuff. No notes were taken. When i got the jacket back in about a week the stains were still there. Grace Yoon said nothing and after I insisted that they clean it again she said it would be ready on Friday ( almost another week. I showed up on Friday and the jacket was not there. She said come back on Monday. Having no choice i came back on monday and the jacket had the same stains -- . I wish I would have read the negative reviews before I went there. Took 2 suits. The pants are both too short. 3 Pairs of sports pants. All bad too. Too a very expensive and UNIQUE jacket I bought in Juno, Alaska that I could never replace. Wore it 3 times. Took it to them. Told them specifically to dry clean. When my wife picked it up she was charged for dry-clean BUT the red had run onto the white sleeves. This jacket was washed to save money and charged us more and the jacket now has pink sleeves and it is ruined. I am still shacking mad. read more
