This place wasn't my favorite atmosphere that being said they did a fantastic job on my hair. I don't recommend going to this place if you are in a hurry or expect to be in and out for a hair color. My color correction took 5 hours total for shoulder length hair, but I was very happy with the results. Bring something to read, and expect to share your stylist with at least one or two other clients during your appointment. I was 10 minutes early and he had three clients he worked on while I was in the chair, all of whom left before me. That being said he is extremely nice, very honest and has reasonable prices. If you're a fan of small talk this is not your place, but if you want an affordable color correction and don't want to pay extra to feel pampered this is a place I highly recommend. I had a keratin treatment done a couple days ago and I am very disappointed with the result. When I had the treatment done in January at another location, my hair felt amazing! It didn't tangle, it air dried in record speed, it looked and felt like satin. I expected the same results from New U Salon. Instead, my hair tangles and I still need to straighten it to get it to look how I want. I feel sick to my stomach about the amount of money I wasted. Nidal is very sweet. He gave the client before me an amazing haircut. He also did a great job on my eyebrow waxing. But please save your money and avoid the keratin treatment here. read more

I have been going to Nidal on and off since he was working as an employee in a corporate salon. When he first ventured off on his own, I followed him to downtown Fredericksburg, and just recently to his new location right off of Rt. 3 - only really straying when I moved away for a few years here or there. Obviously I like the quality of his work or I would not follow him through his past 3 locations over at least 15 years. The only change that made me want to review him is I took my 4 year old this time and he was phenomenal with her! His new location is one seat, we we're his only customers so the experience did not feel rushed at all and he cut her hair EXACTLY how she wanted it. He was very patient as 4 year olds can't sit straight for long (or even sit for long) and at a certain point (I guess being a father of younger kids himself) he even had my daughter stand so they could finish. I feel I should add that his prices are very reasonable too compared to other places I've had my hair done through the years. read more

Hello, I highly recommend going to New U Salon! I visited there today. They are friendly, knowledgeable and listened to my needs. I desired to color and get highlights. Nidel accomplished a huge task because my hair had different shades and it needed correcting. The end result is beautiful, soft and natural. My hair looks and feels so healthy. Nidel exceeded my expectations. Also, I did not want a haircut because at the moment I am enjoying my hair being long. I was not pressured into getting it cut which was so nice because many other salons want to cut cut cut. So that also made me happy. The price is comparable to others too. Also, during my hair appointment another patron was getting Microblading done by Nano and WOW, she looked 10 years younger by the time she was finished. Hence, I made an appointment with Nano next. Quick, efficient, and friendly. I got my shoulder length hair cut down to a pixie cut. My first experience with a pixie cut a few years ago was terrible very mannish. This one is soft feminine and makes me look lovely. Can't recommend enough will definitely come back! read more

Run..don't walk away from this place! I had an appointment,had to wait 40 minutes while the stylist ran back and forth working on other customers who were having their hair colored, I was just having a shampoo cut and blow dry. I brought a picture of what I wanted which the stylist promptly ignored, he trimmed my hair, blew it dry, and pretty much had me out of there in 15 minutes! Did not take the time to talk about the cut or what I wanted...he gave priority to the others, I guess because they were spending more money? He did find the time to tell me about getting my eyebrows done for $350.00 dollars. read more

I've been going to New U Salon since I moved here two years ago. I am a fanatic about my hair (it's extremely thick and long, and it's a LOT of bad hair if it isn't done well). It took me years to find a place I was happy with where I used to live. Luckily, I found Nidal at New U very early on after I moved to Fredericksburg and I'm thrilled. I paid $100 even with a 10% first visit coupon for color & cut. In my financial situation, $100 is a lot! I called him before coming, but he didn't tell me he charges for long hair even though he hacked off my long hair and made it medium length. I told him I air dry my hair and that it is very wavy, curly, frizzy. He suggested I get long layers, and I said I hate layers because stylists don't do a good job and they part my hair in the middle, and then I have one side of my hair that is a lot shorter than the other since I part my hair on the left side. I said with layers I look like a cat has been chewing on my hair. Nidal said, "We'll cut long layers though which will look nice." The way he styled it looked nice because he applied severely hot heat from the dryer until my ears felt like they were melting, but now at home I am realizing that my hair is very thinned out from the layers. The right side layers of my hair are about 3 inches shorter than the left side. I can barely put my hair in a pony tail due to the short layers. It looks 50% frizzier than it did before due to the chopped layers also. The cut also adds volume in a strange way in the middle of my face making my head look even more square. It's not flattering. Now, the color is awesome. But I'll never go back because it's too expensive, and now I have to let my hair grow out for 6 months. Plus, my bangs are too long, so I will have to pay someone else to trim my bangs. I basically paid Nidal $100 to experiment with my hair. read more
