There's even a sweet, sectioned-off area just for the littles, which is a lovely touch. We didn't manage to spot the store cat (must've been on a break), but we did find some great books, so no complaints there. I feel like these stores aren't usually busy so not sure how necessary self check out was. But it's here and so that's a good thing for fast & easy checkout. I dislike lines and usually end up at Hudson News to avoid a sprawling line at Starbucks or McD's. Their prices are expensive but they have a wide array of drinks and snacks, a few gifts like See's Candies you can bring to others. They don't have a lot of coffee drink options though which will never cease to surprise me. And when you check out your coffee drinks, prepare for sticker shock. A bottled coffee and water cost me $13.33, sigh.

Prices are higher, but it's like everything else in the airport. Otherwise, clean, nicely organized. I haven't seen many people reading books on planes lately, but maybe this place will lure you into the best way to pass the time while travelling. I ask damn ok I wasn't informed can I bring back my books return and repurchase and re up my membership. Now she seemed doubly annoyed and bothered. Come back in a few days she says. I let her know: no no we just walked out with the books they're here. She responds I know just come back in two days..... I look back at the line - empty. Umm so you want me to come back?? Yeah and just talk to whoever is here and explain what you want. Confused I walked out and hear her sigh and when I looked back the three sales associates went back to being huddled and chatting. Double checked policy.... Nope not a policy thing returning books.... TO REPURCHASE WITH MY REUPPED SUB is not against policy. Called a different store they said yeah they should've just done it in the moment. Checked stores hours not close to closing so that's not it. There have been other instances of weird stand off behavior that has left me wondering WTF is going on... Look y'all I'm not gonna tell you how to live your lives or where you should be working, just remember both sides of the counter are human and in a world where being a BIPOC is getting more and more dangerous, a friendlier attitude can go a long way.

Yaszelyn provided outstanding customer service great energy, friendly, helpful, and genuinely passionate about the store. I also had the pleasure of meeting the owner Malik, who is a fantastic man and clearly pours his heart into this place. The selection is incredible, books, backpacks, mugs, gifts, and so much more, all thoughtfully curated. Malik Books isn't just a bookstore, it's a true cultural gem. In need of some LMU-emblazened items to sport during an upcoming Alumni event (dressing the part of an overenthusiastic school-spiriter really breaks the ice with older Alumni that hold those elusive networking ties), I was ecstatic to hear that the Bookstore updated their recorded message to include their Christmas hours (no "holidays hours" found around here; it's all about mad love for Little Baby Jesus) and days they would be closed. Not only did I not have to run over any undergrads, the winter break meant that the gate attendant gave me unofficial permission to "just park anywhere." Although I was tempted to park sideways across three handicap spots, I figured it would feel almost as rebellious to just leave the Prius in the clearly marked loading zone behind Von der Ahe. This being my first visit since the move from Malone, I was quite impressed. Although the higher ceiling was the first thing I noticed, there was much more inventory than I remember and I was even asked if I needed any help. I will say that I didn't think I would see so much stuff available for women in the range of XS-M. I suppose they know their niche pretty well. I had a five-star experience all around, but I still hold a grudge for their insistence that their prices are, in any way, reasonable.
