We went on a big family trip this month, and in the chaos of packing and leaving for the airport, I forgot to take a book. Thankfully, Book Soup has a little bookstore inside the international terminal at LAX, and I dropped in for a quick shop before it was time to board. I love the main Book Soup in West Hollywood, as well as its larger sister store Vroman's in Pasadena. This airport outpost is less interesting, of course, but it's an excellent airport bookstore, with a good selection of titles organized for easy browsing, plus plenty of gift items to impulse buy near the register. I picked up a copy of Andrew Sean Greer's new novel "Villa Coco," which seemed like the perfect read for a vacation in Europe, and a paperback of "Bunny" by Mona Awad. I also got a cool Los Angeles-themed bookmark for my kid, who recently started reading books on his own. Buying two books for a trip with kids was beyond hopeful (I believe I read 25 pages total before coming home), but they were books I wanted anyway, and I look forward to reading them. If you have more free time on your trip, I'd highly recommend a visit to Book Soup before you go. At the very least, it's a fun place to browse. read more

I have seen many bookstores while travelling in airports all over Europe. In US, not so much, just books inside some stores, but not a specialized one! It was a nice surprise to see a local LA bookstore represented at LAX. Great idea for bookworms, much better selection and reading ideas. Prices are higher, but it's like everything else in the airport. Otherwise, clean, nicely organized. Great place to grab a book before getting on a plane if you forgot yours at home or didn't have time to pack one. I haven't seen many people reading books on planes lately, but maybe this place will lure you into the best way to pass the time while travelling. Love this little store. Sure, you have to pay full price & I haven't seen anything on sale here yet, but it's at the airport so it is what it is. I just like that they sell all kinds of books from all kinds of people and all kinds of cultures. It's not your standard airport store with a book area where all you see are bestsellers and gossip rags. They have a lot of topics to choose from. If you enjoy books and reading, definitely go check it out. read more

This is a nice bookstore for you to peruse if you're a bookworm having a few hours to pass while waiting in the Tom Bradley International Terminal. I dropped in here just before boarding my flight to New Jersey on Thursday night right before their closing. In the 10 minutes that I had before their closing I was able to quickly scan their bookshelves and pick out an perfect biography to read on the plane ride over to the east coast. But I guess I was being too ambitious trying to read a novel on a red eye flight. I ended up sleeping almost through the whole flight. So on my return flight back to LAX today I tried returning the book I never got to read. They were so helpful in all capacities. You have to appreciate great customer service when ever you get it. read more

One of the best bookstores I've encountered at an airport! Book Soup carries a vast selection of books that are kept neatly organized. I saw lots familiar best sellers and many new releases. The store is a bit cramped, but it is the airport after all. Great place to browse while waiting for your flight. I'll have to visit their main store in West Hollywood soon! read more

I never write reviews, much less for a bookstore at an airport but there is one salesperson at the Book Soup in Terminal 7 (United) store that is PHENOMENAL. I believe her name is Octavia and I'm certain the store triples their sales the hours she works. She clearly loves her job and isn't pushy, but if you want a recommendation, man is she knowledgeable. I asked her for a book rec for something my son and I could read together and she got so excited at the assignment. My son devoured the book she recommended on the plane and asked when he could go back to read another. Before that experience it was a pain to get him to read anything. Her enthusiasm really was contagious! I'm so grateful to her and don't even care I spent probably 3x more than intended. Give Octavia a raise! She is a bright light of literary wisdom hidden in an airport bookstore who is turning screen-loving kids into books lovers one at a time. Thank you Octavia!! read more

Time in Tom Bradley Terminal never passed so quickly until I wandered into Book Soup. No surprises for guessing what their main jam is, right? With about a few hours to burn, wandering the well stocked shelves of Book Soup passed at least an hour of terminal time and had me leaving with a few best sellers, a colouring book and more titles marked as "to read" in my Good Reads queue than I care to admit. Suffice to say, if old school reading is your thing, Book Soup is a great spot to while a way a little time while in transit. read more

I was browsing at some books before my flight. An Asian looking lady told me they are closing in 10 minutes. I acknowledged it. After 5 minutes, she came to me and asked quiet rudely, "Are you buying anything?" I intended to buy a book, but she completely ruined my spirit. Awful service. Employees just want to get out of there. Don't blame that everyone is buying reads from Amazon with this customer service! read more

Great selection of books and gifts located in the UAL wing. I stopped in for magazines and a drink and ended up buying a few books, gifts, and Hollywood souvenir. Staff was extremely helpful. They gave me a free book, too!! Lots of items in Book Soup were on sale, too. Saved me when I hadn't bought gifts for family on my way home. On the downside, they had a small selection of drinks and no snacks. read more

Went to Book Soup for the first time since moving to LA last year. It is a great spot for any type of genre. They don't have everything, but chances are you'll be able to find what you're looking for. Helpful staff, great atmosphere. Prices are competitive but not incredibly cheap. Great spot to stop in and browse. I'll be back! read more
