My go to store for coffee table books! They are so friendly and helpful here. They often have sales which make the price is very affordable. The quality is simply unmatched. Easy 2 hour free parking in the garage nearby.

One of the best art book store in town. I've been a customer for ten plus years and Taschen has not disappoint. Taschen also has another location at the Farmer's Martket at Fairfax and 3rd. Please keep in mind that this is a book publisher's book store. Nothing wrong with that, just keep in mind they only sell books published by Taschen. If you're ok with this, then you will have a pleasant experience. Regardless, Taschen is one of the best art book publisher in the world. Their books are gorgeously printed with the best paper selection and lithographic press reproduction quality and technology. Taschen publishes some of the most exclusive titles and most comprehensive artists body of work from standard book sizing to gigantic XL, XXL or SUMO book sizes and the presentation is nothing less than astounding. Taschen also offers exclusive limited edition releases that are some of the best art books ever published and they are worth the money, if you're a collector of rare first edition and signed art books. You will love their offerings. They always managed to publish and present their releases with meticulous and gorgeous book covers, clamshell, etc. Such exemplary executions of their titles always compliment the artists' body of work perfectly and sumptuously. Their exclusive titles always sells out and is sought after worldwide by collectors. Taschen also publishes regular non-exclusive edition that are more affordable for the budget concious art book lovers. Definitely a great destination for any book worm. But a must for art book lovers. Happy reading and collecting!!

Ran into Taschen walking up Beverly Drive waiting for friends prior to dinner. Taschen is a long narrow bookstore with a great collaboration of artsy type books. Not much books for reading. Lots of books with photographs, art, architecture. They have a few books on display that are 3 feet tall. Cool place to check out. Don't know about the service. No one really said much to me. This place closes early, 7 PM.

Love this store ! Such great customer service! I recently went to look for a gift for my coworker and the lady took a long time to find me the perfect book - it was so perfect just what I was hoping to find Came back for more book gifts ! So unique finds and beautiful wrapped ! The Dali Tarrot book wow awesome Gift !Thank you so much . Danke schön :)

I came here for a book sale and got some great stuff for 50% off. There's just something about the tactile nature of books that can not be replaced. This is not a library or Barne's and Noble, so if you're looking for books to read you will be disappointed. If you love flipping through the colorful pages of photography, architecture, and design books, this is the place. They have a smaller store at the Grove, but with a much smaller collection.

This is the most grand Barnes and Noble I had ever seen, like woah…read more I was in so much awe, like how gorgeous is this store, I love my local Barnes and Noble but comparing it to the one at the Grove is impossible. I did feel a little overwhelmed because there was just so much and I felt a little rushed so I just wandered around a bit. Everyone was pretty friendly and the store was so open and welcoming. They had so many options, from books to magazines, special editions, little trinkets, we always need those and movies. This location hosts a lot of the book signings and it was so cool to finally get to see the store. Definitely need another trip to LA and actually just spend hours here, the ac was great and I like be surrounded by so many of my favorite books.

If I'm spending over $150 in books and games you better validate my parking ticket and we'll get to what happened: I was super nice as I always am towards people who are working. When I said, "oh I need to validate" and his response was, "I'll take a look at that" He looks at the ticket, judges it and then says, "sorry we don't validate if it's over two hours" Luckily in this case...the person I came with arrived the same time I did and was making a purchase next to me, and I asked, "why did she validate his?" These employees looked stopped in their tracks. This was discrimination. He said to me, "oh ummm well it might not work" and I said, "let's see..." He scanned the ticket and it said, "validated" I looked at him and said "hmm looks like that worked..." He didn't apologize, he didn't say anything. He just stood there and looked like he got caught in his shitty customer service. I looked up policy on this and Barnes and Noble are supposed to validate NO MATTER WHAT as long as it's with purchase. THEY COVER UP TO TWO HOURS not "if it's over two hours we don't validate" EVEN AFTER SPENDING MONEY. If i come to the grove, eat, walk around, then shop at Barnes as my last stop because I do spend a lot of time in here because books are my passion then what the fuck does it matter if I'm over by ONE HOUR. "Sorry we can't validate" Validate my two hours, and let me pay for the remaining hours on my dime. Don't worry about if "it doesn't work" If this continues to happen then expect more bad reviews. And I'm getting names next time. Also this has happened three times. I've never made a scene before but the dude at the register just radicalized me. Even my sister who was next to me experiencing his customer service was like, "ew why are people like that. The girl next to him had no problem validating my husbands ticket but he had a problem validating yours" And that's what triggered me. That's what lead to this review.

It's not every day that I receive customer service that makes me create a new account to talk…read moreabout. To begin, this Barnes is a retrofitted movie theater from the 50's, which adds a very unique vibe to the space. It's smaller than some of the other local Barnes, but they carry a wide and varied selection of genres, only missing out on stuff like toys and games. If you're here for books, though, you'll find plenty of them, in a clean and well organized manner. The few times I've been in here, there is always an employee working on moving sections, or deep cleaning shelves; the attention to cleanliness and order is on high display at this location, and clearly a lot of pride goes into the work done by the employees. I've never had an unpleasant interaction with anyone who works here. You can find a lot of the same books for the same prices in Burbank, or over the hill at the grove, but you'll struggle to find employees with this level of care and heart anywhere else in the city, in any industry. When you walk in, and the employees are speaking French to each other, you can feel the camaraderie between them. In addition, many of the workers here seem to be artists/media types of some sort and that shows in the tables, and thought put into the way things are displayed. There is a lot of art in the set up of this location. I was recently in shopping for my kids, and was assisted by many of the workers in different areas of the store. A young woman named Cyriel helped me choose a handful of chapter books, pointing me towards titles I was unfamiliar with but ended up being a home run when the little ones got them. I was also helped by a young man named Jonah, who spent plenty of time discussing comic books with me, and helped me choose a few for myself, and the kids. Once again, I felt like I was listened to, and heard before recommendations were made, and they all ended up being excellent choices. Jonah also helped ring me up, and though there was a long, hectic line of people, he went through the entire transaction with a smile, and held an engaging and meaningful conversation while handling the process. He even directed me to the local comic book store, and helped me pick a restaurant in the neighborhood for lunch! There are a lot of questions at the register these days, but it's clear that whoever is training the cashiers is doing a good job. You don't get the kind and attentive service that this young man provided everywhere these days; this customer service is a diamond in the rough. Overall, this is much more than a Barnes and noble experience, this place feels more like a neighborhood independent book store, with corporate backing, than many of the new ultra sterile Barnes popping up. Go to take a look at the vintage location, but stay to get to know the incredible staff running the place.

Got me some children's books and a non-fiction book, kind of a reading challenge as I'm sadly very occupied with my smartphone. And it's refreshing to see a whole wall of magazines. Every month, if you buy a children's book, you can buy a featured, popular kids' book for $9.99. I took advantage and love the amusing, heavily discounted "Mother Bruce". Many gift options as well- LP's, Legos, journals, mugs, candles, puzzles and stuffed animals, though they are overpriced. The store is in what looks like a converted theater. A big plus is the huge parking lot in the back, for the whole block. Really appreciate having a large, clean brick and mortar bookstore to immerse yourself in.

We are coming from San Diego so it was only a 2ish hour drive, we found parking right away which was really nice and I was so so excited to check it out. As soon as you step in you're greeted by such a whimsical display of books and I was instantly obsessed. The bookstore is really large and has so many great options for romance books, ya and some children's books plus tons of bookish merch. It was really hard to choose which book to get, but I ended up getting a paperback of Eldritch by Keri Lake, a magnetic book marker and a tote bag, thank you to my husband for that. I love the little Ripped Bodice tote, instead of a paper bag, they offered a reusable tote for I think $2-5? Which was a fun little souvenier! Also super dog friendly everyone was so sweet to our little Kodi!

I cannot say enough great things about this romance-focused independent bookstore. But here is a…read morevaliant attempt: 1. Expertise -- If you are new to the contemporary romance publishing scene, walk in here and be amazed. There are sooooooo many romance titles under every conceivable subgenre, and the choices are almost endless. But maybe you're looking to expand your list of favorite authors or dipping your toes into romance for the first time, and you feel overwhelmed. Fear not! Walk right up to the friendly staff and just throw out ideas. My friend asked for recommendations of romance that involves: (a) career women who takes care of everyone and needs to prioritize herself; (b) older women with life experience looking for love; (c) romance by black women about black women, just to name a few. The lovely staff member said, "I got you!" and proceeded to walk us around the store to show us her recommendations and share why she loves them. Her passion is infectious! My friend found a stack of books she's excited to read. 2. Creativity -- from the moment you walk in the door, the fanciful and whimsical decor catches your attention and exudes joy and wonder. But don't just admire the flying books all the way to the ceiling or the pink skeleton in a Ripped Bodice t-shirt. You must check out the "water closet" before you go. Trust me on this one. 3. Inclusion -- The Ripped Bodice doesn't just do romance, they do sex-positive, inclusive representation. You'll find curated selections on romance with disability and LGBTQ+ representation, romance by BIPOC authors, non-fiction books about women's sexual health and pleasure, menopause, polyamory, trans bodies, etc. and a gigantic LGBTQ+ rainbow flag made of romance covers. And have I mentioned their monthly stand-up comedy show, which features different comedians who have relatable and funny materials without the mysogynistic cringe. This place is a safe space for people of all genders and sexual orientations. 4. Community -- The spirit of community is everywhere in this amazing bookshop. You see pictures of the sisters who started and own the shop and their family (including kids) on the wall. They have book clubs for fans of historical, fantasy/paranormal, LGBTQ+ romance and more. They have a writing club that reads a book together and discusses what works and what could be better. They have book launches and author talks, including a ton of local authors as well as national phenoms. They attract people from all over and are ultra-local at the same time. And you feel like you belong, no matter who you are. Bonus: the store is in the heart of Culver City. Farmer's market, fancy ice cream, movie theatre, and a cafe that plays soccer all the time... they're all right here. 'Nuf said. Go check them out!!
