The pearl in the oyster of a bookstore. It makes me sad I do not live closer so this could be my regular book haven. The world needs more book stores like this. While I was purusing, I heard the sales associates helpiing others with book searches and book club information. It sounds like they have a number of book clubs going at the same time which makes me green with envy. Somebody please open a bookstore like this in Santa Clarita Valley, Ca.! At the time of my visit there was a children's reading event going on in the children's section. There were young adults picking out their spring break reads. There is also a courtyard and coffee shop somewhat attached. I did not try the coffee, but will the next time I am in Manhattan Beach. This is a charming bookstore, well designed, with sooo many staff picks and recommendations. Make sure to pay them a visit when you are in the area. And if you live close by, I hate you :) I paid to park on the street very close to the shop, however there may be other parking I am not sure. Happy Reading! read more

I absolutely loved my visit to Pages, a friendly neighborhood bookstore. The shelves are well-organized and every genre has a great curated selection. The staff are so helpful in finding exactly what you need and chatting about the books, or letting you browse quietly if that's what you'd prefer. I also wanted to shoutout their online ordering system; I ordered a book that wasn't available due to shipping issues, and their staff reached out to me right away to reimburse me and present some other selections. Pages Bookstore is one of my absolute go-to indie bookstores in the South Bay. Located in the heart of Manhattan Beach, it sits close enough to the ocean that you can practically feel the sea breeze as you browse and that adds to the charm for me! They carry a great selection of books: new releases, children's books, cookbooks, travel guides, gifts, and more. They also host tons of author events, workshops, and community gatherings. The staff is always very helpful and while the prices are what you'd expect for a small, local shop, the experience is worth it. One of my favorite things is the cozy open area they share with the coffee shop next door but you do have to leave your drink outside the entrance to Pages. Parking can be tricky and usually requires paying a meter, but it's a small price to pay for such a great browsing experience. You're almost guaranteed to walk out with something new to read or gift. read more

If I see a bookstore I have to go in. I have to. I'm a lover of book stores. This bookstore is the perfect size. So cozy and carries a lot of books. There is even a children's books corner. Nicely organized with great customer service. What a gem for this town, specially for the kids to come and buy books. They sell greeting cards, puzzles and few other gift items. The prices are reasonable. Great ambiance and service. Check them out when in the area. And it's next to a coffee shop ... that's a plus for me cause that's exactly where I ended up after. read more

My first time in Manhattan Beach for a Yelp event. I happened to see this lovely bookstore across Caffe Luxxe. I love books! I had to take a peek. I am so glad I did. From the side entrance looking in, I thought it is a small store, but surprisingly, it is a good size store with lots of great book selections, games, and other miscellaneous items for adults and children. They have a small table at both entrances for customers to place their foods and drinks before entering the shop. Please respect the request. My eldest daughter and I were here for almost an hour. I ended up buying a wellness book called Stillness Speaks by Eckhart Tolle and a game called Game Room California Trivia. My purchase came with 2 complimentary bookmarks. Thank you! They provide complimentary gift wrapping which I didn't take advantage of this time around since the items were gifts for me and not someone else. I know I could have gotten them at a lower cost online, but that's ok. I love to support local businesses. Staff was exceptionally friendly upon entry and very helpful during our visit. Thank you all for your warm welcome and great service! If I am ever in the Manhattan Beach area again, I will definitely drop on by again to see what's new for me to introduce into my life. I did not catch the name of the person who helped me, but they were absolutely great! They knew their way around the horror/fantasy/sci fi section and made some amazing suggestions I never would have picked up otherwise. There was a great of gifty items too, though I wish it was a little more manhattan beach specific. A lot of New York related things, which I get manhattan beach, island of manhattan, it fits! But I would've preferred more local choices. Now, the prices. Honestly, I thought they were overall fair. You can definitely find these books at a lesser price elsewhere, but I would've preferred something much rather support local bookstores and book sellers. I'm not going to turn around and buy the amazing suggestions and personal experience online just to save a few cents. read more

Pages is a women-owned bookstore in a prime location. Huge selection of books, including books that juuuust came out. They also have bookish gifts and trinkets. I've always experienced great customer service. When I preordered a book, they were also very communicative. They host book clubs as well! I highly suggest reading in the courtyard between here and Cafe Luxxe next door, or of course, taking your new read down to the beach. read more

This bookstore is very cute and cozy inside. They had a decent collections of books. Lots of classics while having recent titles and even having local authors. The staff were really helpful and passionate. They gave loads of recommendations and were knowledgeable to guide us to genres and books to our taste. The prices were decent. I would like to buy more books here and have a good read by the beach. read more

Stumbled upon this charming bookstore while wandering through downtown Manhattan Beach. This well-stocked and beautifully maintained independent bookstore is a book lover's dream. The space is thoughtfully curated and impeccably organized with a great selection of books across all genres. The store also carries puzzles, stationery, and unique little gifts and trinkets. This is a really nice independent bookstore. They have a broad selection of books and a great kid's area. Staff are knowledgeable and go the extra mile to help you find what you are looking for. Beloved by locals they plan lots of great author talks and book readings in the area. They share a courtyard with Caffe Luxxe which is a nice plus. read more

I've been reading a lot more and have found that I'm enjoying having hard copy books lately over listening to them via audible. I decided to stop into pages to see what they had to offer. I've wanted to read Jeannette McCurdys book for quite a while now and thought why not just pick it up if I saw it, which they did! The title is so crazy to me but I know it's going to be a good read. Now the book store itself isn't that big but has a decent variety of genres. Now, if you're looking for a wider selection id definitely just get the book you're looking for online or visiting a Barnes and Noble. In addition, as with most places in Manhattan Beach they're very dog friendly. I'd say they're worth stopping in. read more

When you need a dose of humanity, go to Pages bookstore! I was greeted with a hearty hello and a smile. "Let me know if I can help you find something." There was, actually...I wanted a small book to take on an upcoming trip. Octavia had three suggestions and along the way we chatted about the creative process and our lives. I left with 4 books to choose from and a full heart. Books are beautiful and so is the service at Pages! read more

Located in an amazing spot, right next to a coffee shop and walking distance from the beach. There is meter parking out front. The perfect combination of a self care day of picking up a good read, getting a cup of coffee next door, enjoying the outdoor seating between the two spots, or heading to the beach to enjoy the new read. They do have a few reading spots inside the shop as well. A bookworms happy place, the bookstore is cute and aesthetic with plenty of variety and options. Good value and prices that comparable to other bookstores and chains. I loved the notes that they had which gave more insight and suggestions to reads. The staff was incredibly friendly and helpful in providing book recommendations. I ended up chatting with one of the staff about the same books we've read. Its always such a fun moment getting a different POV and getting to discuss books with others. I'll definitely be coming back. read more

Pages is the kind of bookstore that makes you forget Amazon exists. Great kids' books, sleek modern architecture books, and staff so friendly they offered free gift wrap the second I said "gift." Didn't even cross my mind--but apparently they're better at planning my life than I am. Street parking was shockingly painless too, which in Manhattan Beach is basically a miracle. read more

My husband and I were walking around Manhattan Beach, I saw someone holding a shopping bag from "Pages". If there is a bookstore anywhere in the vicinity I must find it; I'm so glad we did. The store is adorable, the two associates were kind, they shared a few recommendations. I was able to find a signed copy that I am excited to read. The prices are reasonable for a book store, I definitely would recommend coming in if you're in the area. read more

We were out visiting Manhattan Beach and wanted to buy some books. I'm so glad we stumbled upon this bookstore, it's a great little gem! As soon as we walked in we were greeted with a smile. No one hovered over us and we had a few questions that were answered in such a friendly way! The staff was knowledgeable and eager to assist. What a cute little bookstore! First, the staff are so nice and they have little notes throughout the store based on their reading that make suggestions. I just popped in to browse but ended up buying a book. The prices here a definitely reasonable, no different than a Barnes and Noble or similar chain bookstore. I made a customer account because between this and the new coffee shop that just went in across the street, I know I'll be back here for a good book, a good drink, and a peaceful morning/afternoon. read more

A great bookstore here in the South Bay that needs to be visited and supported. I was here the other day with my daughter as we have decided to start visiting local bookstores that don't gave the initials B&N. That store does have its place, but so do these smaller independent stores and we want to see both thrive and survive. I found Pages to be a charming oasis for a book lover like myself. Although it is not a huge store it is filled to the rafters with books. Everything from some of the latest releases, classics, and a wide assortment of books that may have been overlooked when initially released. Their Children's section although not huge has books that you will never see at a larger retail chain. I'll have to bring my wife next time since it's exactly the kind of books she will love. The store of course also has a cooking, biography, and YA section if that's what you're looking for. For puzzle lovers they also have a nice selection spread all over the shelves. I saw they also have events like storytelling, and author visits so check out their website if you plan on stopping by. Overall a great place and I'm looking forward to visiting again. read more

Walked in here with the hubby last Wednesday out of curiosity and was overwhelmed by the amount of books that were contained in this shop. The books were not only covering a various range of topics, but some had small written descriptions about the books as well as a shelf of recommended books from the staff. It was fun looking through the store and picking up books that caught our eye. The staff there was very friendly and welcoming as busy as it was since there was a street event happening at the same time that was bringing large crowds of people. I did end up buying one book and also adding my name into the system because it keeps track of all the books that you have purchased from the store. Excited to come back again to see what my next book purchase will be! read more

I can't EVER pass a bookstore without checking it out. So glad I did! The owner and staff are amazing. Helpful but not pushy. All were very informed and had great recommendations. The store is not huge in area but was very well stocked, had many options, extremely welcoming and well labeled. They even managed to squeeze in a few comfortable reading spots. Lovely way to spend a couple hours between lunching and sunning at the beach. I'll be back! read more

pages is such a great bookstore right by the beach. there were such a variety of books for all different types of readers! i got a book called "Hood Feminism" from the social science section. even though the store is small, it's very welcoming and spacious in there. there were two girls working at cash register and they were so helpful and nice! will definitely be stopping by whenever i'm in manhattan beach! read more

Cute local book store. I popped in since I needed to pick up a book my daughter had been assigned to read while on vacation. I was surprised that the paperback was $18. I got in my car and checked the price at Barnes and noble and it was $11. Wow! What a price mark up! I love to give business to local independent stores but what a price hike! read more

I know what it's like to work in a small business and this place is just doing EVERYTHING right. Came here with a friend to peruse local small bookstores and definitely fell a little in love with this place. The content of this bookstore is for the ones who have a kindle but still require books in their life. Local authors get display time in a very intimate and densely packed bookstore. I wish I could ace time to browse but I attended a sold out event and the staff there was oh so accommodating for the large crowd of 100 people. They had a smooth check in process and visuals for everyone to see. Staff was there to help ensure spelling and photos were done. I surely plan to return without the large crown to view their local pieces. read more

A new independent bookstore! At a time when bookstores are dropping like flies, this is wonderful. They've been open just 2 weeks. Friendly proprietors, cozy children's section with kid-friendly seating, overall very attractive space near MB Pier. The biz card I picked up doubles as a bookmark, just dandy. read more

We've been open for fourteen years. Three bibliophile moms envisioned an independent bookstore in their hometown of Manhattan Beach, and opened one. Our store is a book lover's dream. It was a nice surprise to see a local LA bookstore represented at LAX. Great idea for bookworms, much better selection and reading ideas. Prices are higher, but it's like everything else in the airport. Otherwise, clean, nicely organized. Great place to grab a book before getting on a plane if you forgot yours at home or didn't have time to pack one. I haven't seen many people reading books on planes lately, but maybe this place will lure you into the best way to pass the time while travelling. Way better selection, more titles, more inspiring future reads!

Love this little store. Sure, you have to pay full price & I haven't seen anything on sale here…read moreyet, but it's at the airport so it is what it is. I just like that they sell all kinds of books from all kinds of people and all kinds of cultures. It's not your standard airport store with a book area where all you see are bestsellers and gossip rags. They have a lot of topics to choose from. If you enjoy books and reading, definitely go check it out.

This location offers robust selections of actually used Japanese books and hard to find comics. I ended up spending some $132 just buying up all the books and comics to my heart's contentment. I even found a rarely ever seen or heard of Tezuka Osamu comic too. I have read just about everything he ever published but never seen or heard of this particular anthology collection. I was so thrilled!!!! Additionally, the staff here is very friendly and helpful. They share the same kind of enthusiasm and sense of humor about books as I do, which made me feel instantly happy. And the 2 bucks manga deals?! Unbeatable! I'm looking forward to visit again just to see what I might discover next time!
