Quick and friendly service. There were two of us for a walk-in massage and we were both able to get seen immediately. The rooms were simple, comfortable, and clean. The therapist I had was very good. There seemed to be only two therapists, as my friend said their therapist kept leaving when someone came into the shop, which is why I didn't give this the full 5 stars. I walked in on a Tuesday afternoon w/o an appointment. The hostess greeted me right away, and I was able to get a masseuse even tho I did not have an appointment. That was a plus. The masseuse asked me to shower before the massage, which was a nice offer I did not expect. Also a plus. After I showered, I went into a spacious room. The masseuse came in and helped me settle into the proper layer of the bedding. Unfortunately in doing so, the masseuse completely exposed me and did not bother to help cover me. I was embarrassed and quite surprised at the brazenness of it. The massage began and things continue to go downhill. The masseuse dug her elbow into my shoulder blades harshly without warning. It caused a lot of discomfort, and when the pain became too much, I asked her to soften up. She responded with "Oh, I am being very gentle". I thought to myself, 'That is not gentle at all, and how can you be so oblivious to the obvious signs that I am in too much pain?' 1/2 way thru the 60-min session, the masseuse turned me over to my back. I was confused by this as she barely massaged my back and hardly touched my legs. A few minutes later, the masseuse's intentions became clear when she offered to "massage" my privates. I immediately said, "No, thank you. I just want a normal massage". The masseuse retorted with, "Are you sure?". I was like, "YES, I AM SURE". Well, that did not go well with this masseuse. She basically stopped massaging all together. Then ended the session prematurely with 15 minutes left. Then she had the gall to ask me to tip her 22 bucks. This was a terrible massage. Weird place. Horrible customer service. Walked in and out while undressing with no regard. Bobo" the massage person asked us to pay prior to receiving services and demanded a tip in addition to that. This place has shady vibes. I asked to speak to the owner Shirley and was told she's not available several times. What a shame, I've been here before and had facials which are good, however the new staff are bringing the place down. Rude and lack of respect for customers. I had to leave since they were asking me to pay while I was in the middle of undressing in the room prior to receiving any services. I'm not a new customer and have been here several times in which they never asked me to pay prior to a massage. On a previous appt. Bobo did not appear to be a trained massage therapist and did not know massage techniques. They also cut the massage short by 10 minutes. I won't be recommending this place any time soon. I decided to give this place a try. I am rather selective of new massage places, as I saw it here on Yelp, as well as driving by. First off, easy parking, the earlier you go the better. I went in and the reception I received was very nice and friendly. I saw a couple massage therapists working. I met a masseuse by the name of BoBo. I explained the kind of massage I wanted, as my back was bothering me. The quality of the massage was excellent. BoBo was great at relieving my back pain, and much more. I felt so good. Okay, I can't complain that much because I got a $150 facial for $50. That said, not sure it was even worth the $50. Pros: 1) The staff was incredibly nice. 2) The treatment was ridiculously cheap (I bought a deal on GroupOn). 3) And while the facilities are pretty bare bones, it felt clean. Cons: The woman doing my facial: 1) Was also answering all incoming calls during my treatment (there for at least seven). For every call, she had to stop my facial and go out to the front desk to check on availability. 2) Seemed to be trying to set a record for how many quick and jerky strokes she could complete within the 90 minute treatment. It felt like I was being treated by a machine that was spinning out of control. Even after I asked for softer, gentler pressure, she went from 100 strokes/min to 99 strokes/min. 3) Halfway through my treatment they brought a second person into the same room to start their treatment! I'm not that shy so it wasn't a huge deal to me but I was a bit surprised that they didn't even warn me. I won't go back. But I do hope that they can improve their overall customer experience because I'd like to see their incredibly kind and enthusiastic staff succeed! read more

Oasis Day Spa is a new spa that just opened up recently in the Richmond District. I use to go to see Shirley at another spa in the inner Richmond, until she opened her own business. Her rates are great and she is very good. I've done the full body massages and facials with her and she does a great job! I recommend the facials, it is 1 hour of heaven!! As you have the mask on, she is also giving you a shoulder rub down, very relaxing! It is always good to give your body a tune up once a month especially if you have a stressful job. Check her out!! I have been on a quest to search for the best facial, and I have been to different spas, including The Fairmont. I must say Oasis is even better than The Fairmont! This includes service and price. Today, I received the "Essential Facial" priced at $55, but for first time customers, Shirley, my esthetician and owner, charged a promotional fee of $38. It's a 60 minute facial, but I ended up having an 80 minute service! I had all sorts of cleansers, masks, creams, and some sort of high frequency machine after my pore extractions, which was, by the way, (extractions) not as painful as other spas! Usually, I dread the extractions, but with Shirley's gentle yet skillful hands, it was much more bearable AND my skin felt so smooth after. All the little bumps on my chin and forehead disappeared. During the mask treatment, she gave me a very relaxing massage on my scalp, chest, arms, shoulders, and entire back! At other salons, I usually only get the chest and shoulders. I also really like the interior decorations. It's definitely not one of those cheap places w/ white walls and a bed. Since it has only opened 6 months ago, the place is brand spanking new, with a relaxing sea foam green painted walls, cream/gold curtains, candles and paintings hanging on the wall, and soft music to listen to. After half a year's worth of searching, I have finally found my favorite esthetician, and I am settling w/ Oasis Day Spa! I am coming back again next month and the next and the next! I bought a groupon for a facial. So admittedly, it was a deal. That said, is it too much to ask, even when getting a discount, that the service leave you feeling less stressed out than when you walked in? They absolutely DO have two clients in one treatment room. I experienced that. Weirded out when I could see the other person next to me, with her mask on. Not very private. But nothing was more irritating than the phone situation. Not only did the technician who was working on my face have to get up FOUR times to answer the main phone line....she ended up answering HER OWN CELL PHONE twice! I am not kidding. Finally, I asked her what was going on and she told me that too many technicians were on vacation. Sorry, but that is not what I needed to hear. Also, there were other technicians in the back, kind of sitting around. I could hear them laughing and talking the entire time I was there. Why don't they answer the phone? At one point, one of them actually yelled out a question to my technician. The wall does not go all the way to the cieling, so the sound came over the top very clearly. I will not go back. The facial was fine I guess. But too many other issues to make it worth a return trip. read more

I have been going to Oasis since it opened. I find all the workers nice and professional. After I have a massage, I get at least two nights of relaxed sleep. I have had pain from driving a lot for work, and from old football injuries. Since the first of my massages, my pain is gone! I told the workers what the problem was and they knew what to do to fix the problem. The prices are reasonable and I recommend Oasis Spa. :o) read more

I've been to this Spa for several times. It's pretty new so clean and nice place. I love thier music, it makes me so calm and relex while I'm having facial and massage. One day i had a bad troubleon my face, I didn't know what to do cause I never had that before but after I had facial two times it's gone!!! Also the owner does everything with her heart. My friend suggest we go to this spa when it advertised their LED Vitamin C Facial on Groupon. The deal seemed great...$50 for a service that normally costs $130! I bought two certificates for my friend and myself. Well a couple of days later, I call the spa to make our appointment. Not realized what time it was (I start work very early in the morning) at 9:55am. After waiting a long time for someone to answer, the phone was finally answered by a woman who never identified. I asked if I had called the Oasis Day Spa and was told that I had but the spa was closed and would not open until 10:00am. OK...what's five minutes! Anyway, I call back later and got the same lady. After telling her I wanted to make an appointment, I was told I would need to make the appointment by email...WOW, now I'm getting nervous!!! I emailed the spa and received a quick response; which relived some of my nervousness. My friend and I arrived at the spa 15 minutes early and was promptly placed in a room to being our facials...GREAT!!! The facial itself was mediocre at best. I mean they spraedy my face with something, steamed my pores, did some light extractions, rubbed my face with with some vibrating instrument, a light, and then slapped this heavy, greasy mask on my face!!! While I waited for the mask to dry, I received a light massage on my neck, back, shoulders, and arms...which was great since my muscles were sore from working out! After the mask was removed, my face was greasy, and my eyes were so goopy (SP?) I could barely see!!! I think if your considering going to a spa, you might want to consider going someplace else. I was glad I only paid $50 (which I still feel was too much) but I would NEVER pay $130 for the LED Vitamin C Facial at this spa. read more

Awful, awful, awful. I will NEVER go here again and I am a person who regularly gets facials and is happy to pay full price at a place that is worth it - Oasis Day Spa is not even worth the discounted Groupon price. The facial was mediocre at best - usually after a facial I have a "glow" to my freshly moisturized and extracted skin - this did not happen with the facial here. It is also not a relaxing place - especially when all you can here is the workers in the next room constantly chatting in their native language. But what really pissed me off, and what I consider to be unforgiveable was what happened when I arrived with my service dog. My animal is a licensed, trained, tagged, vested service animal for my disability. The people at Oasis were telling me he could not come inside and that I had to tie him up outside. I explained several times that he is a service animal and that he is to stay with me at all times. Finally they relented - but only after I threatened to sue for discrimination or call the police as it is ILLEGAL to refuse entry to a service animal. Honestly at this point I should have just walked out and got a refund from groupon because I just laid there annoyed and mad for most of my facial while the girl applied smelly crap to my face with no explanation of what she was doing. read more

I came to Oasis Day Spa for the Groupon Vitamin C facial for $50 or something like that. I thought that was a good deal for a 90 minute facial so I took it. The Salon itself looks clean and inviting. It is located on a quiet corner of Clement in the Richmond, away from the busy parts of Clement, which makes it easier to park. My facial was great. The girl who did it was very friendly and did a great job with the extractions, totally cleaning my face. The masks were so soothing and the music so relaxing I just fell into a deep sleep while waiting for the mask to set! My skin felt very cleansed afterwards and I am slightly peeling, which means it worked! Plus, I felt super relaxed after 90 minutes of nice music and relaxation. The back massage she gave while waiting for the steam to work was definitely a big plus! Overall, I had a pleasant experience. In response to some of the earlier negative comments, the person who did the facial does sometimes have to answer the phone, but it is a small business, so have some flexibility, and you will enjoy the experience! read more

I wanted a facial today and wanted to go someplace close. Called and got an appt. in 30 minutes. When I got there I met Shelly who would do my facial. We talked about my skin and what I wanted. The cost, $55. Which I thought was a great price! First I got my face washed, then a facial scrub and hot towel, steamed to open my pores, She did a lot of extractions. She also put a metal wand over my face, to close my pores. I haven't had a facial for quite sime time.Then I had a mask, she covered my eyes and some sort of mesh over my face before she applied the mask. Whenever you go to a new place, tell the people what you don't like at first. Never assume your expectation will be fulfilled without telling what you want. I simply gave them a call and addressed all my requests. And that's how I got what I wanted. Since they are not native English speakers, they might have communication barriers with customers. But I'm not going there to challenge them. Therefore, using simple words to create a nice communication environment made me felt much better during the treatment. First things first: this place smells funny. You can't advertise yourself as doing aromatherapy and have some weird ass funky smell. Well, clearly you can, but you shouldn't. On top of that, when I walked in, five minutes late for my appointment I admit (damn you Muni! but that's another review), the person who greeted me was in what I can only call a tizzy. Which is not really conducive to the whole spa experience. She repeatedly told me that I was late and she tried to call me and ultimately told me she couldn't do the facial I had scheduled - apparently someone else had dropped in requesting one of their services and they gave my appointment to him. Seriously, you couldn't just wait ten minutes and knock that amount of time off my 90 minute facial? All I can say is if you do go here make sure you are not running a minute late. Ok- so I also went to Oasis for the Groupon special- $50 for a 90 minute facial- a complete steel. I also read the so-so reviews, but I have to say I was pleasantly surprised. The facial was nice and the back massage was great. As someone who has a bit of sun damage from a lot of time in the sun- I can say that the facial and LED treatment left my skin moisturized, refreshed, and with very faded freckles. Yes, the girl left the room to answer the phone and the facial was about 75 minutes not 90- but overall I was quite happy with my experience- and it was $50! Totally worth it. read more

I bought a Gorupon for a facial at Oasis Day Spa. I read the Yelp reviews first and- kicked myself for buying this deal- but decided to suck it up and go get my facial. I laughed when I entered and the "People Love Us On Yelp" sign was displayed on the door. ha. Anyways- long story short, first half of the facial was fine, but what really made the experience bad was when the woman- without explaining a thing- started pouring a cold, thick, smelly mask on my face, without avoiding my eyes, and then left me laying there for over 30 minutes without even once checking on me. Well you're never supposed to put product directly on your eyes like that, and of course the mask started seeping into and burning my eyes, so I eventually started yelling out for help. I've read the reviews & so wanted to have a good experience with this company just so I could come from a positive perspective. I haven't even been yet & already I am yelping due to the aggravation of just trying to get an appt. I realize that some countries dialects come off as short or snippy & I understand they are busy & working on customers at the same time but this is UNBELIEVABLE. I called and asked to speak with the owner, was told she was not there & was promptly hung up on 2x before I even got to say why I was calling. I get not being able to understand 100% of English but learn to answer the phone & put it on hold if you need to get someone who can answer the phone & speak the language. I waited to use my GroopSwoop coupon only because I have extremely sensitive skin and have been having some procedures done the past 6 mths & wanted it to heal before exposing it to anything that may infect it. As my coupon is about to expire I made an appt for last wk but the only thing they had avail was Valentines nite about 30 mins after I get done work. The bus was late & I canceled & rescheduled. I had another treatment done this wknd & my face is actually bleeding a bit like a mans does when he shaves so I called & asked if I could extend the coupon FIVE DAYS. The person who the phone eventually was handed to proceeded to lecture me on how I've "had the coupon all this time & she cannot extend the date. The owner is on vacation & it is my fault I did not use the coupon earlier." Really? Are these people trying to build a business or have a law suit? Granted it is my fault I waited so long to use the coupon. I won't lie to you, the Yelpers didn't have me dying to get there, with reviews that were written. So, I'm supposed to go against my Dr's wishes & use the coupon b/c I'm an idiot for waiting so long or eat the $40 because this company has no customer service etiquette. You've got to be kidding me!!! I called for a limo service last week that I'd gotten from a coupon & the guy was booked & he gave me a code, told me to write it on my coupon & extended the expiration date for a YEAR!!! She can't extend it for a week? These people need a course in customer service. I see another spa w/ the same name closed on Market St & I wouldn't be surprised if it was the same company. & probably for reasons I'd rather not know. Pros: - fantastic massage! - Every massage salon I've ever been to deploys a fragrance or incense of some sort, regardless of the strength, I always walk away super congested from these, Oasis didn't use anything and I walked out with clearer sinuses than I had when I walked in, which was excellent. - 60 minutes for $60, great value. - Selena was the masseuse, I will be requesting her in the future, she was great. - The facial/scalp part was amazing! Cons: - It was a bit cool in the room, I would have preferred the temperature to be 5-10 degrees warmer - She didn't spend enough time on my arms/hands, although the facial/scalp made up for that tenfold... price looked good so gave this place a try. the owner seemed nice and was able to fit me in last minute for a 90 min massage. however, she was busy when i got there and someone else was going to massage me. that's fine, but if you were busy, you really should have said so. the other massage therapist was sick but seemed nice. however, i was lying face down for the whole entire 90 min of massage. i have never had that experience. while she seems to be pretty good with the leg part, the back massage, which she spent over 45 mins on was so so. and since i didn't get to turn around at all, the front arms and legs were not massaged. so all in all, it was just ok and not likely going to go back if i have to get the massage from the same lady in short curly hair. read more
