Don't risk your outfit with some "budget designer". Yelena has the friendliest, most time efficient, reasonably priced alterations shop in the area. Her knowledge of sewing and fashion is superior, and the product she delivers does NOT disappoint. I purchased a $200 camouflage blazer on clearance at Kohls a few years ago but the sizing was never right. I didn't want to get it fitted at just "any shop" because it's a unique material and I've had tailors ruin entire outfits before. With my 30th birthday just weeks away, I figured I needed to make a decision ASAP if I wanted to walk the red carpet with this unique look. After scouting my options within a 30 mile radius, I compared estimates, the ratio of customer ratings with the overall star rating, and tried to find a location that was reasonably priced. I narrowed it down to 3 stores and New Look Tailoring was hands down the clear choice. Yelena (the owner) greeted me with a warm smile and was understanding of my concerns. Compared to the other businesses she was by far the most knowledgeable seamstress, yet was also the most affordable. I'm all about saving a few pennies, but I also recognize the value of good work. Even though I purchased the blazer on clearance, I didn't want to risk messing it up too close to my event... on the other hand, I didn't want to spend way more on alterations than I paid for the piece itself (that defeats the point of a bargain). Luckily my bill was only a hair over $40. I was going to get a black dress shirt fitted as well, but I decided to just purchase a new one (already fitted) for half the price. I will definitely be using Yelena in the future and would recommend her to anyone! Bonus tip: Leave your credit card at home and bring cash for payment! read more
