I cannot recommend P'Dia enough for wedding dress alterations. I took my wedding dress here for a steam and a bustle and the finished product was gorgeous. They also helped me take a video of how to do my bustle and understand step by step instructions for my MOH so she could execute beautifully on our wedding day. While their alterations craft should be enough, Perry and Diane are also kind, warm people to be around. My appointments were delightfully easy, scheduling them was straightforward and on top of it all I found the pricing to be very reasonable. I highly recommend you think ahead and factor in enough time to hire them for your alterations. read more

Exceptional service and people! Also, very fair pricing. I was in a bind to get a dress ended for a wedding I was attending later in the week and found this place online. I gave them a call and the woman was very kind and told me to come in and she'd she what she could do for me. She came up from the back and examined the dress the minute I walked in. I was told she could mend it in the next few days only to get a call letting me know she had worked her magic 2 hours later. I picked up the same day! After chatting with the women I learned that she has years of experience making custom designed pieces. I even got to see a few of her latest pieces/work and everything was very impressive and clearly crafted with care. I'm glad I found this place and will be back! read more

When it comes to a wedding dress, something you spend so much time and effort (and money) picking out, you want to trust alterations to someone who has seen it all and can do it all. You want P'Dia. Had to go in for several quick fittings as they worked through the stages of altering my intricate dress (shortening straps, tightening bust, taking up the bottom hem, adding a bustle - all while working around lace appliqués and beading!), and they were always so kind, and are just the nicest people to work with. Their shop itself is not necessarily glamorous, but it gets the job done right! Highly recommend! Note: parking can be difficult in that neighborhood so allow for extra time. And, they sometimes have a "window dog" in the shop. As someone who is highly allergic to dogs though, I never once had symptoms or saw a single dog hair about and in fact, barely even noticed it was there. (But if you're a dog lover: bonus!) read more

P Dia - Illusion back, lace appliqués, beading, a long train - Diane worked her magic without breaking a sweat! (PC: Brian Slawson Photography) - Sewing & Alterations Near Me - Milwaukee, Wisconsin

Diane and Perry warmly welcomed me into P Dia along with their daughter, grandson, and Bear. I stopped by for some light alteration work, and we had a nice chat about how tailored clothing takes one's appearance to the next level! P Dia is by far the finest tailor shop I've encountered thus far. read more

Took my strapless, lace mermaid wedding dress for major alterations in 2020. Even though my date moved up, she made sure I was able to get my dress in time. There were things I could have gotten adjusted if I allowed enough time but considering how much it needed to be taken in and lace tears fixed since it was a sample she did INCREDIBLE work. I am so happy with how it fit! read more

Diane and Perry were SUCH a pleasure to work with! They altered my wedding dress for me and it turned out PERFECTLY. The timeline they gave worked well, it was easy to get appointments that worked for me, and everything turned out wonderfully! Diane gave me such an easy bustle which I LOVED! It did end up tearing at the end of the night when it got stepped on, but overall with it only being 3 buttons and ties and so easy to do up, I'll take it! read more

Our son was recently married, and as the mother of the groom I wasn't going to take any chances on the alteration of my dress. To complicate matters, we live in a small community about 5 hours north of Milwaukee, and the one and only seamstress in the area was taking a hiatus. With less than a month before the wedding I made the decision to find a seamstress in Milwaukee that I could meet with, then leave my dress there and pick up when I returned, just days before the wedding. A little nerve racking if there had been a problem with it. I chose P'Dia based on the proximity to our wedding accommodations and her 5 star reviews and I'm SO happy that I did - the absolute best decision! Diane and her husband are exceptional people in every sense, and man can that woman sew! I was bring the dress in for a hem, but as soon as I put it on, she immediately picked up on the fact that the shoulders needed a fix. I guess I knew that, but didn't think that sort of reconstruction was possible in such a short amount of time. She pinned it up and assured me everything would be ready by my pick-up date. Three weeks later, I was back in town, I called before stopping in and Paul said, yes - the dress is ready for pick-up. I once again tried the dress on and it was perfect, well near perfect. There was still a little gapping at the front of my arm pits. Diane says, no worries, she pulls out her trusty pins, takes a couple of tucks, I slipped the dress off, she ran two additional darts for me, had it pressed and back on me in the time it would have taken me to change the thread in my machine. The dress fit like a glove! I let my son and his new bride know that they now have a go-to seamstress in Milwaukee, no worrying and wondering about the quality of her work, and now I'm telling all of you. read more

I had a small issue with my work pants ' seams coming off and ran here for help. Ms. Diane came to my rescue. I had to be leaving town in an hour so Miss Diane was willing to accommodate this tight schedule.... luckily she had the black thread in the machine already. Within 5 minutes, she took care of both sides of my pants. I was on the way back with a decent pant in no time. So give this awesome little gem a try the next time you re in town or nearby. They are absolute sweethearts and pros! read more

My go-to tailor/seamstress in Milwaukee area. I have used them several times and always leave very happy.

P'dia was highly recommended to me by multiple people to use for my wedding dress alterations and they did not disappoint. Diane and Perry were such a pleasure to work with! They are so kind and go above and beyond for their customers. I had one appointment that was later in the evening and Perry offered to walk me to my car because it was dark out. My dress turned out beautifully and fit perfect thanks to them. I would HIGHLY recommend working with Diane and Perry! read more

Diane was efficient, creative, and her prices were incredibly fair. Perry was super flexible in fitting me in on Diane's schedule for alterations, even offering times outside of their hours of operation. Above all, Diane and Perry are incredibly kind and extremely pleasant to work with. I sincerely enjoyed their company and they made the process easy and comfortable! I've gone back to them for several bridesmaid dress alterations and their service and prices remain consistent! I'd go back to them every time, even though I've moved further away. read more

Overall my experience was generally very good. I finally got my wedding dress months after ordering of course, but had to leave for a long work trip soon and they managed to get my first fitting in before I left a few days later which was great. The actual alterations also turned out really well. Diane did a great job taking in the waist and hips and even some of the illusion lace at the back where it was gapping without any noticeable seams or anything. The bustle also ended up looking great but it caused some trouble. Now for the one star deduction- we scheduled my pick up for Thursday evening 6pm since I was leaving for my wedding Friday morning. We'd already had one fitting about bustling but decided it needed to be taken up more. First they called earlier in the day asking if I could come at 6:30 instead which was totally fine. When I arrived though the whole family was there waiting to go out to a birthday dinner which made me feel like I was holding them up even though it was not my request to push the time back! Then at that fitting it became clear the bustle still wasn't right so Diane had to do a really quick fix so I could pick it up the next morning before I left. It ended up looking great and they got it done early in the morning, but it's a stressful time to have multiple fittings and add more errands to do the day before the wedding. That aside though I would definitely still recommend any bride I know to come here because the end result was great. read more

Coming from a family of seamstresses, I was a bit nervous about going to a seamstress I found on Yelp but boy was I pleased! P'dia is simply a God send! Diane & Perry, her husband are an amazing pair. I took my wedding gown to her because even after ordering a short, I needed about 5 inches off and to have the corset taken in. Though I needed it rushed since I was getting married in North Carolina, no corners were cut! They were so accommodating with booking appointments and willing to make sure I felt 100% confident with the work being done. Cost were exactly as I was told and any adjustments were given before leaving my appointment. Currently my husband has 5 suits in to be altered. Even being peak wedding season, they were able to get him an appointment and have the suit ready for an event. All in all, P'Dia's has 2 new lifelong customers! Customer service is wonderful, the work is perfect and the timeliness is impeccable. read more

I haven't had anything tailored in years, so when I needed a dress taken up I called P'Dia based on the positive Yelp reviews. First, the owner Diane is very friendly and super accommodating. Normally she runs about 2 weeks for alterations (she's busy for good reason, people!) but she was able to get my item done in less than that because I needed it for an event this weekend. I really, really appreciated that. Second, her prices are very reasonable especially considering the quality of the work. Third, my dress is perfect - it's now exactly the length I wanted it to be & the process was painless. Diane does custom work as well - she's actually making my sister's wedding dress right now. Great service, fair prices and a friendly owner = my new stop for anything I need tailored. read more

I dropped a torn coat off smack in the middle of wedding season and was originally given a three week turn around time (because wedding dresses). Perry worked with me and we settled on one week. Three hours after I dropped it off, Perry called to tell me it was finished. I've gone to P'Dia for alterations as well and the work is amazing. Add this to the outstanding customer service, and I will never go anywhere else. read more

She was awesome! So easy to work with and very knowledgeable. I had a pretty complicated backless wedding dress that ended up needing 5 fittings to make sure everything fit right. I was pretty nervous it wasn't going to turn out the way I wanted it to, but she knew what to do to get it to fit right. She works until she gets it right and takes pride in making sure your dress looks good. I will recommend her to anyone in the future. read more

I have been bringing clothes to Diane and Perry for 6 years and will continue to do so. They are both fantastic. Diane has made both simple and complicated alterations with ease. When a zipper broke along the back of a dress, she reconstructed a new one. If she can tell a pair of pants still don't fit right, she's quick to make adjustments. They are a very busy duo, but her care, attention to detail, and assurance you will love your clothing when she's done is well worth the wait! Can't recommend enough. read more

If you're getting married and you realize you should wear a suit instead of jeans, then realize that you probably need to get it tailored because you have such a slender figure, Diane can help you in a pinch. I'm not saying this happened to me but I'm also not saying this didn't. I'm saying hypothetically if you happen to call up a week and a half before your wedding and try squeeze in a fitting, she'll be flexible. Hypothetically, she would also get you in day of and finish your altering within a week. Though this may cost extra, you can count on it to be quality work. This is a popular shop downtown and it is one that has been around for years. Diane has 40 years worth of tailoring experience and many people know her for the stellar work she does. During peak wedding season or peak winter season it can get busy. Sometimes up to a 3 weeks wait. I had two suits tailored here. My one issue came with my second suit when my pants weren't properly hemmed. I stuck my leg in and it immediately became disconnected. Diane fixed it right there, which was great. For my first visit, I'm definitely impressed. Helpful tips: -Call to schedule a fitting in advance -Prepare for a 2-3 week wait unless you want to pay for rush service -Bring the shoes you want tailored to your pants I have quite a few things that need altering, so I'll be back. P.S. I got my wedding suit tailored here. read more

I brought my wedding dress to Diane for some serious alterations. Not only did she make it fit me like a glove, the prices were completely reasonable. Before you brush this off as just another review, let me provide a little backstory. This was not an off the rack David's Bridal gown--we are talking an $11,000 Vera Wang haute couture that fell into my hands at a sample sale. I was swimming in it, but the price was so amazing I couldn't pass it up. The dress was easily four sizes too big, with a bodice covered in alencon lace. Essentially, this was a recipe for wedding gown alteration disaster; everything you read says don't try to go down more than three sizes with a lace bodice and even that is pushing it. And if you do, you'll make up what you saved on the up-front cost in alteration charges. But the price was right, so I took a gamble. Diane scoffed at the idea that it couldn't be done, and got right to it without batting an eyelash. I think I paid maybe $150 for the whole thing (!?!?!?) which is much less than what other seamstresses were quoting me. And certainly put my net cost for the gown no where NEAR the original price. She was professional, quick, and willing to work within my insane work schedule. If you are looking for someone to perfect the most important dress you'll ever wear, look no further. read more

So far the best tailor/alterations I've found in Milwaukee. One thing that really impressed me about her business savvy was that she was familiar with every Yelp review about her place. Very personable ebullient woman who properly tailored my new but cheap suit, and a properly tailored cheap suit actually looks better than an improperly tailored expensive suit, if you're an overweight man. If you're a thin man, well any suit looks good on you, even double breasted, and please don't stand near me. Because there's a shortage of this profession in town, she's got a somewhat long turnaround time, though she was done exactly when promised. Just make your appointment well in advance of any event, and I think she's your choice for formal or ceremonial wear, new business or work outfits. She does custom dresses, I don't have any way of assessing her skills in that area. read more

This woman works wonders! I had bought a beautiful long beaded dress for my engagement party that was a little loose to begin with. As the date got closer and my stress level got higher- I dropped weight.. a lot of weight. Usually this would make me happy, but not when you have a dress you're set on that needs to fit. I took it to a handful of people to see what I can do with it, and mostly everyone said they would not be able to work with it since it's all beaded. At p dia she not only took It in with short notice, she made it fit like a glove! I was very pleased with the results! Thanks again, I'll be back ! read more

I had never had to use a tailor in Milwaukee in the two years I've lived here, but I needed some suits altered. I tried to find reviews on yelp and other similar services and didn't find much. So, on a whim, I consulted the yellow pages and found that The Tailor Shop was close to me. So, I brought in my suits to see if they could be altered to fit me after losing 60 pounds and getting some hand-me-downs. And boy am I glad that I did. Diane is the tailor here and she does a great job for a reasonable price. I had lots of work done to two suits (jacket altered, waist brought in on pants, and cuffs added to pants) and the total was about $130- she also offers discounts for students. Diane, who is a super nice person, was able to get both of them done in a week and I'm glad that I found her. I'll definitely be bringing all of my tailoring work back to her. read more

I came in here after reading the reviews to get a bridesmaid dress severely altered after the dress shop made the wedding party get very oversized dresses. I was extremely happy with how everything turned out - she and her husband were very friendly and even knew which dress was mine when i came for pick yp though i had met them for less than 5 minutes a month earlier. The fitting took less than 5 minutes and the price was way less than I was expecting ($55) considering the amount of alterations that had to be done (she said she had to take the dress in 7 inches or roughly 3 sizes) and you couldn't even tell the dress had anything done to it. I will be going here again for any alterations I need in the future. read more

I stopped in there on a Friday afternoon to ask about getting some leather work done. I have a nice sheepskin jacket which the pocket had torn from the stitching. Well, after talking to the gal for a few minutes, she told me to stop in the following Thursday to get it done. Come Thursday, I drop off my jacket for her to repair. About two hours later, the shop rings me up and says it's ready. It was very well repaired with extra stitching. All it cost was $10, too! Now, this is a $1,200 replica WWII B-3 Bomber Jacket. I was a bit nervous to leave it with just anyone. But, the shop took great care with it! I may have her fix something else small on it. That can wait til spring. It's still damn cold out! read more

I've been to a number of tailors in the city. Each one has had a major rude 'tude that's left a very bad taste in my mouth. I was glad when I read good reviews of P'Dia, saw that it's a few blocks from my office. And I was EVEN GLADDER when I took a pair of pants there and experienced how incredible they are 1st hand. The owner, Diane, is beyond friendly and approachable. She felt immediately like an old friend. Prices are good and turnaround time is shockingly quick. I brought in my strapless bridesmaid's dress to Diane for alterations. Being the first time I've ever had to wear a strapless dress, I was a bit nervous about feeling uncomfortable wearing one. Not only did Diane fit the dress to me perfectly; she made me feel like I was at a friend's house the entire time I was there. She even kept an eye out for the parking checker while I was changing (if you get to her shop before she opens at 10am, there is no parking allowed at the meters in front on Wisconsin Ave)! Although I've never had to have a dress altered before and can't really compare her prices to anyone else, it definitely seemed reasonable. Highly recommended! read more

I cannot tell you how wonderful Diane and Perry are. I took my original wedding dress to them and Diane was completely honest in telling me that there was nothing she could do to fix it (it looked terrible when I had picked it up and I was not surprised to hear this), which told me she had integrity as others may have attempted to fix a dress that they knew was poorly made. I quickly had to find a new wedding dress and Diane was able to get all of the alterations completed in a shorter than ideal time. My dress looked PERFECT and she made sure it was completed on time.
