Dan is a creative, caring, and communicative business owner. His team, led by Seth, was an absolute pleasure to work with - they did a truly fantastic job and were so nice and helpful throughout. After they were done, we had a small issue with drainage (because right after they laid down the patio, there were torrential downpours for days, not allowing our pavers to settle). I'm not kidding when I say within five minutes of emailing Dan on a Friday evening to let him know, he called us to say he and Seth were coming over right away to take a look. Because of continued bad weather, they had to come back a few times over the next few weeks to make sure everything was good. Yes, they made our patio a little slice of heaven, but we were actually the most impressed with their post-project attentiveness and customer-focused desire to make everything right. We made an appointment for him to come out to our house in Wynnewood and look and give me some ideas with an estimate. It may not mean much to some, but he showed up exactly on time! Yes, on time, without a 2 hour window that many companies subject us to. In fact I saw him sitting in his truck out front for a few minutes before he rang the bell. He looked around the house and took copious notes. When he returned he showed me a number of ideas that could really make a difference. My wife and I had some specific ideas as to colors and locations of flowering plants and Alex incorporated them into his plan. He put down stone as a border in a number of places, planted a number of Azaleas and Rhododendrons, he suggested a Crepe Myrtle surrounded by 5 beautiful little accent flowering plants. We had a bit of drainage location problem and he was able to suggest a drainage system that his men implemented making a much more attractive and efficient system. He also included Spring Clean Up and mulching in his plan. He gave us an ala carte proposal that we could pick and choose from. His pricing was very reasonable and his execution of his plan was completed in one day. His men are knowledgable and good technicians and they clean up everything when they are done. I have no hesitation recommending Pat Calabrese & Sons Landscaping with 5 stars out of 5. Alex and his men were a pleasure to work with and I couldn't be happier with the work they did!! They also offer other landscaping services like weeding, trimming, stonework/garden design, but we plan on doing that ourselves. The grass is NOT always greener!!…read more I was fooled by Blue Spruce owner Drew's tale that he is hands-on and he'd be a consultant to look after my lawn and suggest applications to keep it looking good. Nothing could be further from the truth. Blue Spruce doesn't care a little bit. AND Drew is the all-time worst at responding - he doesn't care and doesn't want to be bugged to communicate. He wants to send a crew out to cut grass (sometimes) and then tell you how great they are. Want the truth? *The 1st week we had them to treat our lawn - they treated it right after Scott's and burnt it out (even though I told them not to treat). *When the lawn finally came in mid-summer - they skipped applications and I had to chase him about why there was crabgrass - Everywhere. *They skip mowing 3 times each summer. No call, no note, no rainout - just skipped. The lawn goes 2 weeks without a cut and looks brutal. If I called, Drew would've ignored. When they do come out, they often skip trimming around back border, shed, swing-set, base of trees. *We offered him to renovate all our plantings in the front of the house/around pool. Drew spent 90 minutes "wowing" us with knowledge - and Never followed up with a quote, email, call. AND ignored emails/voice-mails asking for the quote and asking if he wanted the business! Why waste our morning to tell us how much you know if you don't have the professionalism to follow up?!? *After a 18 months of chasing and explaining his service is lackluster -- He said was that he doesn't really need to respond and that their results speak for themselves! Anyone can cut grass and his results Suck. GRUB INFESTATION **I LOST MY LAWN last summer It's DEAD. Grub Infestation because BS didn't care and didn't treat! ONCE AGAIN - I chased Drew about the large dead spots in my front lawn and he agreed to come out...never did. When I caught him - he said it was stressed due to lack of rain (other lawns were green). AND told me I could fix it if he did Another aerate/seed for another $400... And then I was ignored. *Another company agreed to take a look - they pulled out clumps of grass and showed me the grubs everywhere. I got 2nd opinion and they agreed. Front lawn is DEAD until likely 2017. Not only did Blue Spruce's negligence kill my front yard for 2015 - it's shot for 2016 too! *I had to pay another company to aerate/seed in late Fall and again early this Spring. Pictures with hose are from this morning. Yard is shot. This could have been avoided if treated as planned, or even cared enough to come take a look rather than ignore. Drew doesn't have a clue. Worse yet, he doesn't have a care. Save yourself and go with any other outfit. Don't trust your lawn to Blue Spruce. I'll post pics - from last year and again from today. The pics from today have a hose shown.
