It puzzles me why this New Leaf only rates 3 1/2 stars. My experience has been absolutely wonderful. The staff is very customer friendly and they go out of their way to help. The store has a knowledgeable, top shelf butcher department. The store is clean and the shelves are fully stocked. The cold food bar has a good assortment of cured olives and beans. If you want treats, they have a bakery department that sells cookies, scones, pies and an assortment of other pastry goodies. I drive over from Gilroy and compared to our local Safeway where there is no customer service and hostile employees, New Leaf gets 5 Stars. As for prices the New Leaf is less expensive than Staff of Life in Watsonville or Santa Cruz and way cheaper than the infamous Gilroy Safeway. read more

I'm semi regular here, only because this place is a 5 minute walk from my house. Most of the employees don't greet you. And the Kid Rock looking employee always glares at me, and gave me dirty looks when I was FIVE CENTS short on a purchese, back in March! I'll glare at him back next time!! read more

The Chipotle Chicken & Bacon Sandwich from New Leaf Community Markets is hands down a 10/10 and my absolute go to order. The chipotle sauce has the perfect smoky kick, the chicken is juicy, and the bacon actually shows up and does its job. Everything is balanced perfectly on a solid French roll that doesn't fall apart halfway through. It's consistently good, filling, and worth every penny. If you don't know what to order, this is the one. No hesitation, no regrets just a really good sandwich every time. Tempeh- you offer this at all of your sandwich bars for a vegan option. Sometimes you have it, and then when you don't, you have no clue how to handle it. Here's how: train your employee to know what tempeh is, how to say it, how to prepare it, and where to find it in the store, so that when a vegan customer is giving you money for one, you give them what you baited them into your store with. Sometimes you have it. Sometimes you're fresh out. Sometimes you go and get some from the shelf (best choice). Sometimes you don't and just want us to choose something else. What else? Chicken? I would be surprised if anyone wanted your FTLAT and would sub animal parts- but maybe your tempeh is good enough for Meatmouths- which is great...so stock your tempeh! And advertise it! Employees being scared stiff and then trying to find a manager to make the easiest decision for them is...well I'm not going to start in on your employees (Itzel from the receipt was great) but your managers can't even agree. At least get on the same level of ineptitude. Sometimes they're two star service sometimes one...I'm looking for at least a three! Maybe I'll Yelp again one day and bump your score. I LOVE going into grocery stores all over the world and the Aptos New Leaf Community Market did not disappoint. The moment you walk in you see fresh and beautiful produce and flowers. The aisles look great and are loaded with snacks, different types of flour and baking items, a wide variety of cheeses and chocolates, fresh meats and fish and so much more. They have the best marionberry pie I've ever had. The crust was flakey and the filling sweet and the perfect consistency. They have a coffee bar, soft serve ice cream by Strauss and prepared food and even a make your own poke bowl. You can wonder around the aisles and have fun getting new food items and cool stuff for your pet, baby or yourself (lotions, organic body stuff). Makes me sad to see only three stars on average - this is a great grocery store! They did a fantastic adaptation of the old apple barn while honoring its history. I shop here often after my run and the service is very friendly. They often have great deals on sale, including sparkling water. Everytime I get one of the Clara's burritos from the hot bar it's something other than advertised. I got a "bacon egg and cheese" wrap and bit into it on my way to work and it was a bean burrito... for $6.99?! read more

I'm gonna give this place a one if I can give them a zero or a negative hundred I would the food was OK. The Oceans is good. I actually like the fact that it's really close to my house, however, in the hot foods area, the fact that they were playing and blasting a song that says rape me. Yes I know it's about a different thing but not everyone knows that and that's a little not OK not client appropriate I had know this cause I've been in customer service for over 30 years and that is not OK to play at work at all in your home OK but in public not OK. Any organization that is OK with that song playing? Yeah, I WANT nothing to do with that and I hope people feel the same way. read more

LOVE this New Leaf location! It's clean, the staff are very friendly and helpful :), they have pretty much everything you'd need, the hot bar is great.... oh and the Sushi bar is KILLER! Their sushi is the best grocery store sushi I've ever had, and the price is super reasonable. I definitely think some of the reviews on here are inappropriate and unfair (you know the ones by "constant complainers" I'm talking about). My husband and I love this New Leaf, and not just because it's a new New Leaf (less than a year since they opened). The employees have always been friendly and kind, and the store is always immaculate and well-organized. After checking in on Yelp today and seeing its 3-star average, I knew something was not right. Case in point: Even during this time of 'Shelter-in-Place' due to the COVID-19 pandemic, this store provides a welcoming (and calm) place to buy our groceries without an ounce of stress. They've even adopted a genius way to send you a text letting you know that you can now enter the store, should there be a line or queue outside. That way you can wait in your car or walk around a bit outside, instead of having to wait in a line 6 feet away from others. This morning, there were only about 20 or so people shopping inside, and staff were visible throughout the store to help us if we needed. We felt 100% safe and comfortable. Keep in mind that they currently are not allowing reusable shopping bags to help reduce risk, so we just left ours off to the side outside, and picked them up when we were done. The guy greeting customers at the door was very friendly, and even offered to take our cart to spray it down with disinfectant when we were done with it. They also offer disinfectant wipes just as you enter the store. Thank you New Leaf Aptos for being such a great local market! Just so you all know, all New Leaf Markets also donate money regularly to local non-profit organizations that aim to help the environment, kids education, etc. They also prioritize local and independent products, so even if their prices may be slightly higher than other big chain stores, it's for a very good reason. :) read more

They have a great selection of drinks if you're a fan of alternative soda, interesting wines, all kinds of kombucha and fermented drinks, and sparkling water. For a smaller store they also have good options for pescatarians/vegetarians. Like all New Leafs you can also get your supplements and vitamins and natural body care there with a great selection. Bulk bins are also great especially if you bring a sack you can really cut down on wasteful packaging. If I could give 3.5 stars I would. Since I can't though, I'll bump it up to 4 stars. There's nothing particularly wrong about this place; they have all the essentials. It's just so... expensive. Like, what-the-heck-did-i-buy expensive. But... - The items are fresh. - Many are organic - There's hardly any waiting in lines (great for "doh, I forgot ingredient XYZ and need it in a hurry" moments.) All n all, I'll be back. New leaf is a joke. i have given it a try so may times and finally decided to stop paying 3 times more and leave with a whole bag of bad attitudes! Last time we were there, my wife finally asked the cashier if New Leaf was a bad place to work since everyone is looks so unhappy and extremely rude and unfriendly. I hate writing reviews, but I think people should know there is a Delux foods just down street with better products and much nicer and genuine people who actually say hello back to you. Needed fruit so stopped in...should have gone to Deluxe! Nectarines at $4 per pound all rotted in tiny spots from rock hard in 2 days. They must have had undetectable bruises. No more shirotaki noodles in the refrigerator case either. Used to spend hundreds of dollars here. And the bagger in the bandana mask was impossible to understand. I like this New Leaf the most vs Westside or Capitola. I mean the other ones are v nice but this one is a little more low key. People complain about prices but this is an inflated world and you're shopping at a high tier store. This isn't Walmart this is a local grocery chain with local produce. I've also been impressed with their produce and other selections as well. Of course I pay more here for canned food or other items like that, but it's clean, not that busy, and I can go here and get everything. read more

This review is specifically a shout out to the men at the fish department who I think do an amazing job preparing the freshest fish. The fan behind the counter is loud and its even more difficult to hear folks ask for what they want cuz of masks. Just want to say I'm grateful I can receive such quality fish and it seems to me like that is a very difficult job already even without the fan and masks. I kinda had to raise my voice to get the tuna I wanted today. No hard feelings! I hope those guys read this and know they are appreciated. First time in grocery store. First is this a Portland thing to put a rainbow flag that says all cultures, all religions, all genders and so on a flag in front of store. I thought all stores accepted everyone. Sales gimmick I don't know. Went in to grab a onion that I forgot at Safeway and thought I'll just stop by here to it. $1.98 for one small onion. After looking around at way overpriced items I was how can people afford these prices. No customer service and employee are glued to there registers and don't say anything. Parking is also crazy. Overall store is way overpriced during this inflation. Try to stay local but This is why people shop at Costco or Walmart. read more

Somehow they opened another New Leaf some five months ago and I was unawares! Now I know. So I had myself a nice visit and came to write a review... I see some serious unfairness to the business here. It's brand new, they need to iron out some wrinkles! Give them a chance folks! I disagree with the tactic of having one poor experience with a business that's been open for just a couple of months, then nailing them with 1-star reviews. Anyway, here's my thoughts: this New Leaf is just like every other New Leaf, and I've been do at least four others. Same prices, same products. And yeah they're not the cheapest game in town, that would be Safeway, but they've got the most outstanding selection of top grade goodies, as always. Folks working there were kind and friendly, as one would expect at a New Leaf. It's just head and shoulders above every other grocery store, and yes you pay a premium for that. Five stars. read more

I went in today around 7:15 there was 3 checkers, only two offer to help me out, a young girl on check stand 4, seem to be hiding behind her phone. Very unwelcoming. I am giving the low score for the horrendous customer "service" at the checkout. Today, as I was in line, there was only one person in front of me. There was a cashier and two other "workers" talking to each other. The cashier started scanning my items and never looked at me, or even said a word - they just kept talking about their shifts to each other. The cashier finally spoke to ask me if I wanted a "printed receipt." How hard is it to greet customers? I wrote a similar review awhile ago for the store in Capitola. The only explanation I can think of is that they must hire people off the street without interviewing them - there certainly can be no training. Won't be going back there often. read more

The glass door on the refrigerator case for milk is broken. It actually has been broken for several weeks. I am glad that this is saving energy trying to keep items cold.
