General Tso's Chicken with fried rice and House Special Chicken
    Spunkie D.

I absolutely love New Kahala. I go every time I'm in Carbondale. The staff is wonderful. The food is beyond good, especially the fried rice. My latest favorite is the General Tso's Chicken. A little pricey but I pay the extra for the deliciousness and the service. The only downfall so far is the egg drop soup is more like egg drop jelly. Weird!

Came here on a recommendation. I ordered the chili chicken with chicken fried rice and had the two crab ragoons as a side. I liked that I could determine the spiciness of the food, and got a level 1. Overall the food was ok. The chili chicken came with a huge heaping of onions, and very little chicken. I did get a very sizable portion of fried rice. The chicken had a tiny bit of a kick to it, so I would recommend getting maybe a 2 or 3 if you like spicy food. The ragoon did not have a lot of filling in it, and was quite hard to chew into. Food was not terrible, but decent. This was my first time ordering from here, and will come back to try other entrees.

Pretty good food. But you decide if it's worth the price. I usually get the chicken fried rice. I remember when it used to cost around $10.

My favorite restaurant in Carbondale! The portions are huge and the food is amazing. It's better to call ahead but you can also dine in.

The inside has a good amount of seating and a separate area for shabu shabu, so it's well organized. We ordered a ton of dishes to share and everything came out so fast. I was surprised by how fast and friendly the staff was. The jjajangmyeon is vegetarian and this was very similar but just slightly lighter than the Korean one. Still so delicious. The fried tofu is an absolute must order. I don't know how they got it that crispy and crunchy, but it was perfectly flavored too. The grilled tofu was also really good and flavorful. The noodles were great, and we also got the cabbage dish which was a nice balance to some of the heavier, oilier dishes. They offer tea for the table only $1 per person. Overall just a really great experience. It's a bit out of the way and not really surrounded by a lot of other things to do nearby, but worth the trip. Would definitely recommend!

I've had their 3 cup chicken, fried pork chop, other street snacks, braised beef noodle soup. Our recent orders: Stirfry basil with beef (17.99): our favorite Chili's stirfry chicken (14.99): it was better the more you had it, but it was just strange that the chicken was coated in sauce so it didn't make it quite crispy Five spices tofu (13.99): this was pretty good. It's perfectly crispy on the outside and the dipping sauce was not too bad. Next time we want to try this salt and pepper, tofu and the fried pork chop again There's a 2.79% transaction fee for credit cards

I promise it's worth it. Kitchen 95 is a Taiwanese restaurant located off of Page in Overland area. They used to be partners of Taike Shabu Shabu, the biggest Taiwanese restaurant in St Louis area back in the day so you know the food would be fire. My favorite is their fried boneless chicken leg, which would be offered for free if your order is over $50. It tastes almost the same as the one I had in Taiwan. It's crispy on the outside and super tender on the inside. Another dish that I love from here is the braised beef noodles soup. The broth was so flavorful and the meat was super soft. It's the best that I have had in the Stl area. Other dishes that I would recommend are the Hakka stir fried and the fish with black bean sauce but overall you can't really go wrong with anything. What amazes me is that all these amazing dishes were prepared by one person, who was also the owner. It's definitely hard work running this business for them so please be patient, and kind when leaving reviews.

There's something incredibly comforting about sitting down to a bubbling hot pot when it's freezing outside. The first time we tried the extra spicy Sichuan broth, and the second time we went with the chicken broth. Mixing the two creates the perfect balance -- rich, flavorful, and just the right level of heat. We've also tried the sliced chicken, shrimp, and fish. My personal favorite combination is cooking the shrimp and cod together with lots of vegetables. The veggies are fantastic -- especially the corn on the cob, chestnuts, and broccoli. Another fun feature is the toppings bar where you can customize your sauces and garnishes. I love adding sesame seeds for extra crunch, along with chili oil, fresh cilantro, and spring onions. And honestly, even just slurping down the soup at the end is a treat in itself. The service is really great. The ambiance is a bit average, but once you're immersed in the whole hot pot experience and enjoying the food, it honestly doesn't matter. Definitely recommend for a cozy, flavorful meal -- especially on a cold night!
